Ice Skating: Backward Stopping Tutorial

- In this video I show you how to stop on ice while skating backwards. It's a little bit more difficult then when skating forward but many concepts stay the same!
We start with three options, beginning with the easiest and progressing from there:
1. Backward snowplow
2. Backward one-foot snowplow
3. Backward hockey stop
After explaining all three variations I show you multiple camera angle of stopping in slow motion, so that you can see how your blades need to work in order to do a really good stop!

Hey Marcel, great vid as always. Thanks. Any chance you'd teach how to get those really quick, short-step "hopping" crossovers? Not demanding. Just asking. It's hard to find info anywhere on those (how to get them both backwards and frontwards) and you were doing such great ones in this video. Thanks! And thanks for the vids.

Yeah when I was growing up in Canada my rink was about 10x20m.
Here it’s 10x5, where our garage is actually supposed to be built someday. We actually have a decent lot for German standards and the garden on the other side of the house could have about a 10x15 ODR, but that side gets more sun.

Maybe you feel like explaining something about the following two movement sequences:
(1) How do we train safe and correct left as well as right turns from medium speed forward skating into backward skating and vice versa (from backward skating into forward skating)?
(2) What are the movement sequences for tight backward arcs or backward Scandinavians?

Wie lange brauche ich, bis ich es sehr gut kann? Und kannst du nochmal ein Video machen, wie man die wichtigsten Sachen schnell lernst?

Das ist schwer zu beantworten. “Sehr gut” ist für mich so 10 000 Stunden Training. Um Eishockey in einer Mannschaft zu spielen brauchst du vielleicht ein Jahr mit 3-4 Trainings die Woche, im Sommer dann auf Inliner.
Eigentlich alle Videos die ich poste sind wichtig. Das wichtigste für dich wäre dann mein “Basics” playlist.

Nein seit dem 9.3 nicht mehr. Ich filme alles meistens in 2-3 Tage sonst wird es zu aufwendig.
