- Would you be able to tell a Deutsch DT Connector from a Deutsch DTM - or Deutsch DTP Connector? Follow along with Steve from WireCare® for a basic overview as he covers contacts, wire gauge, amperage rating, housing designs, and more for each of these connectors.

thank you for the clear explaination.
This comes in handy! Thanks
Finally ...thanks for the explanation much appreciated..
You got it!
Nice info. Thanks
Exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks!
Excellent! Great information! Thanks
Thank you!
Would be nice if you included mm² cross-section (international cable categorization acc to IEC 60228) as well. Not only American Wire Gauge (AWG). Would make things way easier for international viewers.
Yes, that is definitely something we will do moving forward.
Yes, yes, yes. AWG doesn't mean much outside of USA. Why not reference mm2 cable size at the same time?
@graham6137 You are correct! Outside the US, AWG is meaningless. We may be able to add some text to the video.
are the dutch stamped and solid pins interchangeable?
@juanarredondo9601 Unfortunately, they are not interchangeable.
Thanks for the video very ilustrative however there is something I can´t get it, wath are the keys and and wath is the diference???
Keying is something that Deutsch uses so that you cannot mate incompatible connector housing. For instance, a DT 12 pin connector has A, B, C and D Keying. This ensures that a C Key plug cannot be mated with a D Key Receptacle. Basically it is a tab on the plug that slides into a slot on the receptacle. These must align for them to mate. I hope that makes sense.
No DT series that will handle 24 AWG?
The DT series, size 16 contacts, will accept 14 - 20 awg wire.
@@WireCare Yes, I know, but 24 is smaller than 20 and no DTx connector appears to handle smaller than 22 gauge (DTM series) unfortunately. I have a device that uses only 24 AWG and it appears nobody makes a weatheright connector specified for wire this small.
@ltvoyager
I have heard of people (tinning) g th he wire to make it 1 or2 sizes bigger. Don’t know if that helps you.
@@marshallcollins8634 That might work, but I decided to use a JWPF connector instead of Deutsch.
They dont make it easy for customers add in autosport connectors. I also like how the rate in amps at what voltage and ac or dc ? Get ready to part with money make mistakes and part with more money.
Yes, the autosports are a bit more complicated to understand. The dielectric strength on the DT connectors would be 1500 VAC.
It's hilarious how basically every description of DTM makes no mention that it is physically smaller
You are correct....the DTM series housing is physically smaller.
It’s right there in the designation DT Mini
He says it denotes miniature what more do you want?
