      1 owe a £100 fine for my 21-22 and it's been pending for 10 days now ..
      Is this normal?

    The biggest part that fried my brain before watching this video was the 50% "plus" payment made on January. I kept thinking why am I paying money on what I haven't earned yet. But after watching this I now understand. Thanks!

    Just viewed this having been working part time for 20 years since I retired!! As I do my SE Tax Return myself, it did clarify a number of points I had not been sure about. Luckily, nothing that I got wrong. Very reassuring. However, understandably, you were focusing on much younger people so a few things weren’t covered that applied to me, like receiving state and work pension, not having to pay NI contributions. Thank you Adam for a very thorough explanation for 99% of viewers

    Brilliant video. I knew how to file my self assessment but I have a company and had employment under IR35. Been battling through this and couldn't get through to HMRC for days as I owed tax based on the calculation. Your step by step approach with the added explanation of being able to offset losses of the company against employment income turned my taxes around.     Excellent video mate. I've watched your other video as well about declaring the income made from CZcams and I'd like to kindly request or suggest a topic for a future video.
    How to complete the foreign income section of the tax return?
    I'm a construction dude by day and blogger by night :)) and I receive commisions in more than one currency. Sometimes those commissions land straight into my uk bank account and sometimes they land in the paypal account.
    So I receive pounds and dollars...
    It's a bit complicated to get my head around it so a video on this topic would be very helpful indeed.

    Thanks for your videos, they are really helpful. I have a few questions on the '2. Tell us about you' section and would appreciate your comments please. It asks... "Did you receive notification from Student Loans Company that repayment of an Income Contingent Student Loan began before 6 April 2022?" ... a) If I made payments to my student loan in the 2021-22 tax year, do I answer yes to this? b) I fully paid off my student loan in the 2021-22 year, do I include the amounts that I paid?     Hi Adam, thanks so much for helping me. Regarding the final payment PLUS your half year upfront to play catchup. - Surly this only applies the FIRST time you do your self assessment?
    I paid 6k + 3K on my first year. then another 3k in july. Now it is my 2nd time to do my return and it's the same - 6k + 3k? then another 3k in July. That can't be right? Should it not be a smooth 3k each time since I played catchup at the beginning?
    Appreciate any help!

    Thank you. When you were skipping through the tax calculation summary towards the end, it there is no charge for NICs class 2. Why is this, given that the taxable profit was well above the threshold? Also, the amount that the NIC class 4 calculation was based on, was more than the taxable profit (by £ 3,002). Why was this?

    This very helpful! Just a quick question: if I'm filling it out now, for the "date your books or accounts are made up to" would I still put 05/04/2022? And would I then only calculate my turnover up to that date not anything past it? It's my first time filling out a tax return, so I don't want to make a mistake!

    Great video, very helpful! The trouble I am having is getting an 'ERROR' message when entering my Turnover, saying my business exceeds the maximum annualised amount. Any help would be great!
