I regret not having found Paul Auster earlier. I love the way he has woven politics, philosophy, and basic human emotions all into 4321. He is now one of my favourite authors. 👏🏻👏🏻

A wonderful novel which thrilled me. And this theme of « what if I turn left (instead of right) » never ceases to haunt me. We all could have had many different lives. The morality of this being that we just have to make the very best of the one which is ours. And books (novels) such as this one certainly gives one a strong sense of humanness and relationship to others. A very powerful work of literary art here. And a great interviewe as well. It is always fascinating to hear an author read his own novel and comment on it - the how, the why, the when. Loved it all. 👏

Paul Auster is so dense and grey and I mean that in a neutral sense. I love his work, but the man and the work are so different. I love hearing him talk about anything. He seems like he's lived a lot. And his writing is sublime. This one sounds like being in bed trying to sleep and remembering your past via Blanchots book to come.

"There is no need for parenthesis" - Paul Auster

I'm thinking of making an archive of Auster's readings of his books. Anyone who has any idea how it should be done, hit me up
