I think even in the 6 States of US where there is inheritance tax, the max is 18%?? I am open to correction. Pitroda's family live in Illinois where there is no inheritance tax?? One can be sure that a lot of investments will go out of India if such a tax is introduced. Instead, a progressive income tax regime would be better and the poor can be provided subsidies etc. Perhaps this maybe already happening.
