@@Paul-ew5st yeah, i saw the movie few times since then and I actually understood what is happening there later and I do not understand why it has reviews around 5/10. It is not aging well, effects etc, but it has amazing atmosphere, music, it is great fantasy, Grace Jones is amazing. It has Neverending Story vibes kinda. Definitely deserves more than 5/10.
My main issue with the 2011 Conan movie is that it suffers from trying to satisfy both the hard-core Robert E. Howard Conan fans and the casual fans who only know Conan from the two Arnie movies and it fails at both. It suffers from the obsession with "motivation" that modern filmmakers and screenwriters have. We did not need the first 20+ minutes of the movie setting up a new origin story for Conan. At the most 5-10 minutes to set up the Hyborian Age and a little montage of Conan's origins being born on the battlefield etc. and then just get into the movie and if you frame it right you may not even need that much. I see Conan being introduced somewhat like they did James Bond. Honestly how much did we really know about Bond's backstory until "Casino Royale" and that was 21 films in. What you need to know about Conan is that he's a wandering barbarian warrior from Cimmeria and then drop him into the action. That being said Jason Mamoa is the closest any actor has ever come to portraying the character as REH wrote him.

Bêlit, the queen of the black coast is what he's referencing. With almost 90 years of Conan material available a script wouldn't be hard. Dark Horse comics did Conan best but now Marvel has the rights again, but apparently Netflix has a series in the works? To do a script you'd only need one Robert E.Howard story combined with two separate comic stories. Combine them into a plot with two subplots. I'd hire Taylor James as Conan instantly. (He played Samson in the most recent film) The guy is perfect for the role.
Fuck. Wasn’t expecting the Robert E. Howard drop. The nod to Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway etc. I agree though, no one has approached this right. And if they did it today it would be big and flashy like all that other bullshit out there (i.e. marvel movies). Conan is brooding, dark, atmospheric and bleak. And existing and surviving and making a way through the world despite that. And what studio would agree to a concept like that? Jesus, what I rant I’ve posted…
''The Queen of the Black Coast'' her name was Belit. She was killed by a demon. I completely agree about the Jason Momoa '''Conan'' movie, the opening ten minutes, that kid was Conan. Had they done the whole movie like that, it would have a better movie than the Milius/Schwarzenegger film. As it was, it just fell completely flat. It was almost like a ''Hercules/Xena'' episode.
I wish Tarentino would make a Conan, it wouldnt be anything like Milius' version. Tarentino's would be a bit more "camp". But it would be better than nothing.
IMO, the dialogues would be too stylized based on his writing and directing style so far. We need someone with Garth Enis, Frank Miller, Alan Moore or Robert Kirkman serious dark toned of story writing cos I'm hoping for Joker and The Dark Knight level of character study, discussing on Frank Castle's mentality.
I can’t believe Tarantino just said the kid in the movie did a great job , he is Jorge Sanz , one of the most known Spanish actors in the 80s and 90s. Now he is broke , drunk and almost homeless.
One of the biggest differences between the two versions was the absolutely fitting and integral Basil Poledouris score. GOAT

The first Conan is one of my cult favorites. A remake isn’t necessary.
Robert E. Howard wrote a hundred tales in the Conan universe, there are plenty of stories to tell
1 out of 2 cartoons is really good
not a remake, it should be a series
Savage Sword of Conan directed by Tarantino make it happen!
Hey Quentin: the kid who played Conan as a kid, is a well known Spanish actor: Jorge Sanz
0:38
He was talking about Belit, queen of the Black Coast, and captain of the Tigress.
Lol I like that Quentin appreciate Conan the Destroyer. It is one of first movies I have ever seen in my life if not the first I remember. I was like 3 or 4 years old when I saw it. I definitely saw first black woman in my life in this movie. It has special place for me and I think it is entertaining flick.
I thought Wilt did a nice job
@@Paul-ew5st yeah, i saw the movie few times since then and I actually understood what is happening there later and I do not understand why it has reviews around 5/10. It is not aging well, effects etc, but it has amazing atmosphere, music, it is great fantasy, Grace Jones is amazing. It has Neverending Story vibes kinda. Definitely deserves more than 5/10.
@@johnhorak2000 It suffers from the standard sequel issues. They cut the budget and made it PG instead of R.
The story is called Queen of the Black Coast and is a Robert E Howard short story.
I wanted that Sgt. Rock movie Quentin was in the talks to make
My main issue with the 2011 Conan movie is that it suffers from trying to satisfy both the hard-core Robert E.
There can't be another Conan movie cause there won't be another Poledouris
Great point.
If this man makes this movie it will be an automatic Blockbuster but it's all up to him
I want to see a Conan movie starting TECHNOVIKING…
I could listen to them talk all day
It makes sense that Tarantino would like John Milius.
It makes sence I can breath oxygen....
@@user-dc1dr9kr8x "sense"
@Syntax "troglodytes" ?
Oh my god are you for real?
John Milius is one of the best directors of all times.
Is he a troglodyte because "syntax from the internet" Doesn't share his political views?
@Syntax no dude, i am definitely not simpatico with Milius right wing political views, but his movies are definitely masterpieces. The Lion and the wind, farewell to the king, Conan, big Wednesday.. The guy even wrote apocalypse now , dirty Harry and Jeremiah Johnson.
Hè is a symbol of the New Hollywood.
If you Can't understand his movies, you probably understand nothing at all About movies.
I was hoping you were mad because of his political views but that's not the case, well then i feel sad for You.
@Syntax yeah I'm aggressive and you're a wise movie critic.
I mean it's Not like You started this calling Tarantino and millius "troglodytes".
Nah, it's me who is being aggressive without any reason.
QT: "That f**king kid killed it as young Conan"
*Kids name is Leo Howard
QT: *starts getting misty eyes😢
Big Bass Cut here on the audio
queen of the black coast. yes, one of the best conan stuff. this guy has taste.
He knows his Marvel Conan comics...I think the female pirate leader he's talking about is Belit
This feels like Joe tying to do inception on Quentin. I hope it works.
Well now that he stopped his talkshow he would be up for it for sure!
Oh, not Conan O'Brien. Forget it.
He should write the script for it at least.
Was the audio for this clip recorded through an old telephone?
Not me thinking that were talking about a Conan O'Brien Movie 😂
Why does the audio quality sounds like a 1980's radio show?
It's piracy
Like 80% of these views were people clicking on here hoping Tarantino's 10th film would be a Conan O'Brien biopic
I want to see Quentin do something he's never done before...make something different than all of his past work.
All his movies are already completely different from each other. Except kill bills.
@@MikeSmith-qp2vt that's what I'm saying!
@@startervisions Star Trek. 😂
@@MikeSmith-qp2vt Tarantino goes SciFi!!!
yes a hardcore pornography
Joe voice sounds like crackling ice on a lake :)
Joe is clueless + Promoting Jason Momoa to QT = mess 🤣
Arnold was great.. cool movie
yes please make these movies quentin
Yoooo some love for Leo Howard (kid Conan)🙌🏾
.
.
I always feel like his being brushed off as a pretty boy.
I always thought the 1st Schwarzenegger one was classic. It stands up even now except for the special effects
I think some of the special effects still hold up well.....like the witch turning into a fireball and soaring off into the night.
I just saw it at the amc. The giant snake scene holds up great. Some fantastic practical effects.
Ngl thought the title meant Conan, the late night host
why is the audio so bad?
Belit Queen of the Black Coast is what he was thinking of
robert e. howard is an ultimate pulp subject. who better to do a movie then QT, the king of pulp?
a true conan story would be fing amazing
''The Queen of the Black Coast'' her name was Belit. She was killed by a demon. I completely agree about the Jason Momoa '''Conan'' movie, the opening ten minutes, that kid was Conan. Had they done the whole movie like that, it would have a better movie than the Milius/Schwarzenegger film. As it was, it just fell completely flat. It was almost like a ''Hercules/Xena'' episode.
Tarantino doing Conan, would be 2h of Conan doing unimportant random shit, with a 70s soundtrack.
Don't forget the side characters that add nothing to the plot.
Just don't ignore Conan The Destroyer
Tarantino's talking about the Dark Horse Conan series, thats from the mid 2000s, I had no clue Tarantino read comics that recent.
marvel did it back in the 70s.
I wish Tarentino would make a Conan, it wouldnt be anything like Milius' version. Tarentino's would be a bit more "camp". But it would be better than nothing.
Imagine A PUNISHER Movie . . . That was his. That would be out of this world awesome
Conan the destroyer is my favorite one.
I own the entire run
Joe must be talking about Conan O Brien.
Rogan slightly caught out there... 'Oh shit, this guy also really knows his Conan !! '
The Savage Sword of Conan
I can’t believe Tarantino just said the kid in the movie did a great job , he is Jorge Sanz , one of the most known Spanish actors in the 80s and 90s. Now he is broke , drunk and almost homeless.
I think he meant the kid from the 2011 version of Conan
WTF is wrong with the audio?
