The old lady who was dancing towards the end of the video is Zohra Sehgal, one of the biggest names in Indian theatre. She started off her career as a dancer in the troupe of Uday Shankar (brother of Pandit Ravi Shankar), one of India's pioneering modern dancers. She eventually moved into theatre and movies. We were lucky to have had her for over a 100 years. But more than anything, she was a symbol of a progressive India.

Ur right Rick.....SRK is definitely underestimated.... atleast when it comes to his acting coz most of the time it's his stardom overshadowing his actor's side... If people see him as SRK the actor rather than "SUPERSTAR" SRK.... they would realise that he truly is a gem of an actor😍😍❤️❤️

The location is the apparent "God's own country" - Kerala 😌😌
    Here's the Malayalam part lyrics-
    Punchiri thanji konjikko
    Smile and flirt with me
    Munthiri mutholi chinthikko
Think of kisses sweet as grape
    Monjani varna chundari vaave
    Oh, you beautiful girl.
    Thaankunakka thakathimi
(drum beats basically, there's no meaning here)
    aadum thankanilaave, hoy
    Dance in the golden moonlight
    Thanka kolusalle
Aren't you like a golden anklet?
    Kurukum kuyilalle
Aren't you like a cooing koel?
    Maaran-a mayilalley
    Aren't you your lover's peacock?
    Punchiri thanji konjikko
    Smile and flirt with me
    Munthiri mutholi chinthikko
Think of kisses sweet as grape
    Monjani varna chundari vaave
    Oh, you beautiful girl.
    Thaankunakka thakathimi
(drum beats basically, there's no meaning here)
    aadum thankanilaave, hoy
    Dance in the golden moonlight

Anurag Kashyap the director who is one of the best in India right now is actually a fan of SRK and thinks that SRK is underutilized actually has said that he wants to do at least 1 film with SRK before he retires. Tighmanshu Dhulia another great contemporary director in his interview actually said that as per him the only main stream Megastar capable of doing a world class role is SRK. Please don't compare SRK with people like Ranveer (Ranveer is a very good actor) because had SRK been given scripts in 90s that Ranveer gets now he would have given memorable performances. Naseeruddin Shah once said that SRK had the potential to be the next Amitabh Bacchan or the next Naseeruddin and he chose to be Amitabh referring to the fact that just like Big B he had great talent but just as young Big B chose to be a star rather than exploring the brilliance of his talent SRK did the same. If you really want to know him as an actor watch his earlier short films which very few people have seen.

  • @anantsharma6365
    @anantsharma6365 Před 4 lety +57

Most of SRK's popular movies from that time aren't actually good movies that you guys would enjoy watching...but he has some really good movies which didn't work out commercially as people didn't want him to experiment much..he was typecast as the romance king, & whenever he tried to do something new, the audience rejected him
There are popular SRK movies, there are good SRK movies, & then there are great SRK movies
Sadly the popularity & box-office numbers of his films are usually inversely proportional to what the movie has to offer, barring a few exceptions

This video made me emotional for some reason... thinking of how a bit over a year ago you knew nothing and now you call the singer by her first name, and the confidence with which you're talking about the films/songs/artists... I guess it reminds me of myself when I became a fan of Indian cinema, and also Dil Se is one of my all time favourite movies, but mostly I think I need to go to bed lmao 😂

Watch 'Pardes'..an amazing SRK movie. It has got some cheese (as you call it), many dramatic sequences, but it is surely one the best 90s movies with which every Indian and western audience can relate to. And it is always running on our channels, so we have kind of grown up watching this movie.

Yep all of Dil Se's songs are a total banger, and AR Rahman is definitely a huge reason for that. Loved your reaction to this one. And that longest running film is DDLJ. And I LOVED LOVED LOVED your words about SRK because, all true.

Watch this movie !! IT IS A MASTERPIECE !
The classics you are talking about were good fun for us THEN, but i dont know how much you will like them. DIL SE was a flop. It was ahead of its time. You would want to watch this movie over the romantic fare he is in.
