I have no Native blood, but the preservation of culture and tradition that is so evident in watching this is truly inspiring. I have family from the Smokies in NC and have seen stickball played by Cherokee when I've visited with family members and it was incredible to me. I feel like we can all learn from the ideals that are presented here and it makes me realize how important it is to honor those who have come before us and paved the way for us. Thank you for this video
I feel lucky to be part of a tribe that never let the traditions die. So many others have such fragmented blood, lost culture, and basically just borrow their traditions from plains "pan-indian" culture. But the Choctaws have kept our own dances, songs, dress, language, music, jewelry, basketry and even cuisine.
This is my first time watching Choctaw stick ball , we have a version in Ireland called hurling it's also sometimes called stickball. It is very popular. Often for the final we have 80k spectators .. you should look up the GAA in Ireland to see if they might pay yee guys to come to Ireland to play a demonstration. The Choctaws are well respected in Ireland ,due to their generous donation to our nation when we had a great famine in the 1850
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS FILM! GREAT JOB! I SHARED IT ALREADY WITH A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, WHO LIKE IT! I am Louisiana (Bayou Lacombe) Choctaw. I have never been to Oklahoma. MISSISSIPPI BAND OF CHOCTAW! CONEHATTA!!! YAKOKE!
Thank you, I appreciate your words. The Alabama Coushatta's around Livingston are getting involved with stickball and is catching on very fast. Happy you enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Great Video! My family hails from Talihina, and ever since I was enrolled with the Nation and learned about that part of my background I've wished that the sport would catch on here in Texas.

Hello, I am a Choctaw Tribal member and I am doing a presentation, Thursday Dec. 12th, 2013, on the Choctaws in the 5th grade at my daughters school. I have done several presentations on Choctaw heritage and culture and thought that your video would be great addition to the presentation. I know the class is very interested in learning about stick ball, and I thought your video "The Little Brother of War" would be perfect for the class to get a better understanding of stickball. I would love to be able to download your video to share with the class. Would it be possible to download this from you? Thank you for taking the time to make this and to share a piece of our culture. Sarah
