    i am an autistic girl and it's hard to count how much i cried watching the four episodes available on Netflix (in my country it's only 4 so far). I am a type 1 anxious autistic so i am a little different than her, but even in the drama it is explained how autism is a spectrum! But i do relate to her so so so much, i feel so happy with this drama. I couldn't stop crying when she had that little romantic scene with the other protagonist, this show really is showing how we autistic people are also humans, able to feel love, sadness, happiness, all emotions! It's so rare to see autistic representation in movies and stuff, and usually when it has it is always the same stereotype (male, never expresses any emotions, no romance or friends) when we autistic people are as diverse as neurotypicals. We really need more representation like this.

    Spring Sunshine scene is one of the deepest scenes I've seen in film making. It came out of the blue. They were supposed to be joking around and things went deep down my heart in a split second. I was both in awe and tearing up. What a delicate true gem of a show. Hallyu is real.

      It's genuinely one of my favorite scenes in the whole show. I got the impression that Su-Yeon is very used to being appreciated for her looks (and make no mistake, they're important to her too), so to have someone so directly and unabashedly lay out why they appreciate her as a person really pulled the rug out from under her. Even people who did know her on that level probably would have still complimented her appearance, but Young-Woo just doesn't even see that note and her comments hit just that much closer to home for it.

      Su Yuon and woo young were not friends in law school but still su yuon helped out woo young in many small ways that woo young deeply appreciated but was unable to express that. Here in that scene su yuon learns just how much she meant to woo young. She expected a humorous nick name based on her looks but got something she didn’t expect. Something much deeper It’s a great scene.

    This show is absolutely BRILLIANT. As the Father of a Son on the Autism spectrum, there is so much that Eun-bin really encapsulates, things maybe someone who is unfamiliar with Autism or a family member of an Autistic person would recognize. The fact that she never looks anyone directly in the eyes and when she does it's only for a brief second or two is something that really stood out to me immediately. I have cried so many times and laughed so many more watching this brilliant work of art. I can only attribute God for giving these amazing actors and writers the wisdom to compassionately show the truly extraordinary condition of Autism!

      As a person who works with autistic people, I feel very happy with this drama because it has shown with delicacy and respect what it is like to live with autism. In particular I am incredibly impressed with Park Eun Bin as she has been careful with a lot of details, even in the smallest, she is admirable. Park Eun Bin is a psychologist in real life and that explains why she has so much knowledge and respect for the autism spectrum. She said that she wanted to be the first to understand and respect Woo Young Woo. In addition, she is a virtuous and prodigious actress, that is why this series has conquered hearts all over the world and is showing the authentic beauty and characteristics of these people, taking us through a delicate journey to a better understanding. When you see Park Eun Bin playing piano or violin, or riding a horse brandishing a sword interpreting a king masterfully (in the king’s afeection) you realize that you are facing an actress like few are seen in each century!!

    • @hnam528
      @hnam528 Před rokem

      @@jass254 it's when autistic people observe how people socialize and try to learn and mimic what they are doing as a way to blend in with everyone else. in the process of doing so, they suppress a lot of their "autistic traits" because of their desire to fit in. girls are more likely to behave in this way (although boys can certainly do this as well) and appear "normal", which is why girls are massively underdiagnosed compared to boys.

Astrid, like Woo, is an autistic savant but Astric helps solve crimes. You can see that Sarah Mortenson's Astrid is likely the model for Woo. Mortenson does a brilliant job as Astrid. If you enjoy Woo, I highly recommend Astrid. Both actors are remarkable in their respective roles.

You get the feeling that the people who know her best and understand her never talk down to her. They treat her like a neurotypical but then fill her in or give her tips if she's doing something due to anxiety or her executive functioning is compromised at a certain time or whatnot. I love that because I tend to infodump when anxious too and then I often feel more anxious later. I am anxious so much of the time that I immediately clicked with her character for wearing her headphones all the time.

I was so scared to watch it because so many times the media gets it wrong and I've felt like there is no one i can relate too when I am watching tv shows and dramas. It feels isolating and like I am constantly doing something wrong.
    I spent 18 years of my life undiagnosed and not knowing what was wrong with me. Then I got my diagnosis but I was just thrown into the world to figure it all out myself. When I started the show, I knew what made me autistic and how my autism makes me different, but as I've watched each episode I've found myself discovering new things about myself and its pushed me too actually learn how the disorder works on neurological level rather than just be ashamed of it and how to hide it away.

It is common for different countries to make their own spin of foreign TV shows that reflects their own cultures. Anyway, Astrid is about an autisitc records clerk with idectic memory that becomes a police consultant. Sarah Mortenson does a remarkable job as Astrid and you can see the influence that show has on Woo. Woo though I think develops a more intriguing plot, but Astrid tends to be more case oriented. If you enjoyed Woo, I may also suggest the French Astrid et Raphaëlle on Prime. I believe that Woo is a South Korean re-make of Astrid (no disrespect intended, countries quite frequently remake popular foreign TV shows with their own cultural spin).

      @kpaxian6044 Před rokem +16

      I agree. I am on the spectrum and for the first time in my life I saw a character do something I have always done but never knew was due to being autistic. (I make the same humming sound in my throat sometimes before I answer or when I am thinking. I also noticed that I do mildly repeat the words of people sometimes...but I never thought of it as echolalia. It was not scripted or thought through...it just came out as if on autopilot. Today someone was joking about her kids being all talk, and I nodded and said "all talk" but have been paying more attention to when I do this now. It's usually not a long sentence. For me it's short, sometimes said quickly and almost without thought. I find it happens more when I am stressed.
      So this show has taught me more about myself too. So I could never be angry about Park Eun-bin playing such a role. I do think more autistics would like to see others on the spectrum be considered but in this case it looks like it was a fantastic fit. The issue some have too is not just that a neurotypical is playing an autistic but that some who are not autistic can make a mockery of the neurotype and I think it creates anxiety. But in this case I think she was a perfect choice. Absolutely adore her character and her acting is top notch!

Park Eun Bin is a psychologist in real life and that explains why she has so much knowledge and respect for the autism spectrum. I beleive that she may have studied Mortenson's role in Astrid. If you enjoyed Woo, I may also suggest the French Astrid et Raphaëlle on Prime. I believe that Woo is a South Korean re-make of Astrid (no disrespect intended, countries quite frequently remake popular foreign TV shows with their own cultural spin). Astrid, like Woo, is an autistic savant but Astric helps solve crimes. You can see that Sarah Mortenson's Astrid is likely the model for Woo. Mortenson does a brilliant job as Astrid. If you enjoy Woo, I highly recommend Astrid. Both actors are remarkable in their respective roles but I am guessing that Woo borrows heavily from Astrid, and that is not a bad thing.

    She’s definitely one of the greatest actresses among her peers. She has a depth understanding of her character, i love the way she explains everything. I hope park eunbin will be bigger than ever, as I heard now she’s sweeping the whole kdrama scene with youngwoo’s syndrome.

If you are reading this and don't understand Korean language or like watching dramas with English sub=titles , you are missing out on watching one of the greatest dramas this year . Park Eun Bin acting puts her in a high class of Korean actresses. Her acting makes you want to watch any of her movies or dramas. What a sweet lady she is.

They are 31 years old but the girl is unmarried nowadays but I commend her because she was the one who taking good care of her twin brother who is autistic. I may not know them personally but hearing their story, you and your brother also is amazing! He's lucky to have you. You're lucky to have him also. 😍🤗❤✨

    I found the series "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" out of the blue on Netflix, probably because I had been searching for legal dramas. Little did I know before starting that I was on one of the best shows I've ever seen. The performances by Park Eun-bin is just exquisite and SOOO captivating. I'm no expert in autism, but can't fail to find my self engaged and forced to bring my attention the issue. Pretty much all other performances are excellent as well, and the different cases are interesting AND the multiple story plots progress nicely into an inspiring and impactful conclusion. I also got to learn a bit about South Korea which is very nice.
    But at the end of the day, Woo Young-Woo is such a fascinating and inspiring character full of positive inspirations. This show feels like once in a lifetime show.
