    Hey just wanted to say thank you for the insight about being able to adjust the unloader valve on a non-identical, or perhaps original, pump in response to the engine having trouble keeping up. Very much appreciated.

    Best advice I've heard,dont over tighten..I changed the unloader on a AR pump yesterday and i was replacing the water inlet and over tightened it and cracked the pump head at the threads

    So I learned about squeezing the wand an letting water go through before starting the engine, and learned about adjusting the pump. Thanks again for your videos. Merry Christmas.

    Hey Bruce, Good news! I did what I had proposed I was going to do. I used the garden hose to back flush the pump in the opposite direction and got water to flow. Then I reattached the hose at the normal input and water flowed as you would expect. I reattached the pressure hose and wane. Purged the pump and started the engine. Working great again. Perhaps this fix might help you sometime.

    Great video Bruce! I like how the quick connect for the wand can spin to keep the hose from twisting.

    I appreciate your thoughts. I'm thinking that one or more of the 6 valves may be stuck closed. Tomorrow I'm going to try back flushing with the garden hose and see if water will flow in the opposite direction. My son picked this up on the side of road. My biggest expense thus far has been replacing the plastic fuel tank. Evidently it sat in the sun too long and the plastic fuel tank developed cracks. I think I can replace the whole pump for 100 or pump head for 80. Possibly replace the 6 valves for even less. I have zero experience working on these. I am a subscriber by the way and enjoy your videos.

  • @davish50
    @davish50 Před 4 lety +1

    I did. The engine runs fine. Usually you purge water thru the pump before you start the engine. Something must be blocking the flow of water thru the pump. I removed the unloader valve off and cleaned and reinstalled, did not make any difference.

    Hi Bruce. Whilst recently travelling with 4 Canadians one of them said they found my Australian accent hard to understand. Funnily enough I had no problem with theirs. Now Bruce, I am only two years younger than you so enough of this old stuff, we are wise not old. However, when you mentioned the loop of rope, I could only think of the emergency one I have hanging from the rafters in case I survive a nuclear attack. I liked the way you deliberately dropped in "Allen Fey" just to see if we were all paying attention. I would like to say that I do the same thing with my videos, however in my case I am just the worlds worst speller. ;-)

It descends about an inch and then seems to get jammed against something. I'm reluctant to use much force for fear of damaging the output shaft. Is there a secret position or something to get it to slide off?

    • @BrucesShop

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  Před 5 lety

      Yes. I would cut along the area over the key. It is thinner and if you dig through you will hit the key and not the motor shaft. In this video i did NOT do this and nicked that engine shaft. But it worked out. This was a horizontal pump.

I been fixing lawn morrow, bicycle,weed eater and power washers. I have a simoniz 3000 psi gas powered power washer to fix. The owner left it in the garage over the winter without winterizing it. Now when the water is hooked up the water flows out the drain tube by the unloader valve. I removed unloader value it looks OK to me. Do you have any ideas, could pump be cracked inside, I don't understand the purpose of the drain hose after seeing how the unloader is suppose to work. Pressure washers don't have a drain hose. That hose is a chemical/soap injection hose. You stick the open end in your bucket/tank of chemical/soap and with the correct wand/tip configuration your chemical/soap will be siphoned in, mixed with the water, and sprayed out the wand.

      There was no pump on it when I got it. How I remember is a friend brought it to me from a landfill This is still my washer today.

    It seems the homeowner washers are coming down in price to the point where a new unit will be cheaper than buying a new pump in the future. I think that's their goal. LOL

    Sometimes when you buy new pressure washer pumps they don't put enough oil in them

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  Před 6 lety

      That could well be true for obvious reasons.

    Looks like the replacement pump I got...Wasn't quite the same as the original, blocked the oil drain plug...Oh well

      Right You have to take these apart to change the oil. I don't think that will happen.
