As someone who is mostly a spectator, it conceptually makes sense to switch to a Top X of each region system. I would like to see the best of the best compete, and you need to find some way to define that.
I recognize it sucks for players because the only way to lock in their invite is through the auto invite system or to be in the upper 25% of each region’s Top number.
It does, as stated in this episode and elsewhere, make it easier for TPC to plan the event if they have a solid idea of how many people will attend (+/- 10%)
I do wish the smaller regions had more invite slots. I’m not from the Middle East or South Africa but I recognize that their invite numbers are tiny.
One thing with the Regional planning, All of the twitter rumors had Louisville for Sept 28, which is the same date as Germany and Brazil, but it will also be the first weekend of Stellar Crown legal. My guess is that the Louisville convention center gave a better rate in October than Sept and they took the cheap out. So when I see regionals in future years, I think there will always be some repeats.
You do not need to learn spanish for the puerto rican Special event(if it happens), Puerto ricans mostly know english (as it is a part of the USA). (TBH shouldn't san juan tournament be just a NA regional?)
Older formats took more skill than current. All you need to do in modern day is Net deck limitless and make a few changes to face the meta. You can grind online tournaments and locals to get the fundamentals down. Back then you could run into some insane deck you've never seen before and you'd have to improvise. The lack of information made it harder to navigate games and matchups because you had less of an idea of what to expect.
1:28:00 slight correction here, the guardian counts as one of the 2 spectator badges the senior gets so its the same as masters.
I’m honestly surprised by the quality of guests that call in 😅
Gabriel's ban sets an extremely bad precedent - he was very obviously banned for his Twitter post, meaning you effectively are not allowed to question or give pushback to TPCI on any punishment, ever. The content of the post was in no way "bad sportsmanlike"; he simply stated what happened, rejected the unproven & nonsensical allegations against him (that he for some reason stacked his deck immediately before declaring an attack for game). That judge's action was extremely questionable, and he should be exposed and criticized. But what TPCI is essentially declaring is that no judge can ever be questioned, and you are never allowed to give your side of the story or go to the community for support, or else you will face escalating punishments, possibly up to a lifetime ban. The mere fact that your speech on social media - which should be completely outside the purview of TPCI - is now in question, is EXTREMELY concerning.
We now have even the people defending Gabriel demanding that others also get banned for "racist and xenophobic" jokes on Twitter, instead of demanding NO ONE be banned for speech. Disgusting.
Honestly, that's not a corporation nor a community I wish to spend my money supporting.
Would love to get on a call and talk about it from a Oceania region perspective 😮💨 it’s over for us
If this was a random player they wouldnt of got banned. players whose name is recongized and known will always be made a example of. Been proven in many card games
Who is the Gabriel they are talking about?
Gabriel Fernandez, Brazilian senior and the number one player in the senior Division world wide afaik
@@emilands3635 thanks!
Jason has 3 worlds PLUS he won multiple of the largest tournaments before world's existed. which are equivalent to world's. tord has literal zero world's. im not sure how you can compare that.
The skill of the players has changed drastically since jason won those 3 world and the amount of players at each regionals and IC and tripled if not quadrupled. Worlds only happens once a year which makes luck and meta calling more of a factor than other tournaments. Not taking away from Jason but when an IC happens 3 (4 previously) times a year and one person has won 5 while top cutting multiple others is much harder
Regarding the Gabe situation. Ive seen that it wasnt a straight DQ, but was first a warning for looking at his deck while shuffling, and then when doing it again recived the DQ after the warning.
Azul gonna get banned for talking about it
