I have mixed feelings about this one. I don't like that Kyle is so quick to dismiss and invalidate Crystal. She's very determined to portray Crystal as someone who makes baseless accusations. However, I do think Crystal ultimately was wrong in the interaction with Sutton, regardless of how she felt. I feel like Crystal likening her situation to Garcelle's in this video is a bit of a reach/stretch given Crystal blatantly lying about a "dark comment", but that doesn't make it right for Kyle to void ANY feeling Crystal had, especially speaking from her perspective as a woman of color.

I think crystal may have had problems being heard in her life so she uses hyperbole and exaggeration whenever speaking to make sure what she’s saying is validated but in essence lies and tells some damaging lies which is troublesome. I also think she did have a discomfort which she should be able to share but because she exaggerates no one is listening.
exactly. even though she was messy with her words, it's terrible to invalidate crystal and her experiences. literally everyone is proving her point with how anti-asian bias sometimes gets overlooked
I sometimes wish for anyone in these kinds of situations (including myself) the ability to slow down in order to reflect and find calm. If that isn’t possible in the moment then there are almost always opportunities for introspection and to “own” (thank you for ruining that, Rinna) our shit. A little humility, true remorse and self insight goes a long way to earning forgiveness and respect from our peers (or our audiences-ha.)
For Crystal it seems likely that she was already feeling extra vigilant from being the newest housewife and so was quick to turn on someone (like Sutton) to divert some of that discomfort.
Even when there isn’t a camera and millions of viewers it can be easy to drown in social situations and find yourself clawing to stay afloat. I know I’ve made comments and become entangled in conflicts which would have been easier to avoid if I were able to practice mindfulness.
I think most people can appreciate that and all Crystal needs is to be honest about it. “I was uncomfortable. I was feeling resentful of Sutton. I was impulsive. I was embarrassed. Then I felt trapped. I fucked up and I’m trying to make amends.”
A little vulnerability and sincere accountability is a magical combination for redemption.
All of this ego, alcohol and attention is chaos making. It does make great television right?
Ultimately I think crystal was a bit off here but her standing up to Kyle felt good lol

Crystal seems fake to me. I remember when she used the word “violated” and said that she didn’t mean it in a derogatory way and that it was just how she felt.
Yet we saw her having a conversation with Dorit and someone else where she said multiple times that Sutton was being creepy when she entered her room.

Furthermore, Crystal suffers from AD so yeah being caught off guard by someone you don't even get along with while you're undressing will feel like a violation. Sutton was a whole Karen the season Crystal joined the show and it was weird, she felt intimated by the newbie but luckily she got over it and they're both in a better place now.

Crystal is in a tough position. She and Sutton have amicably moved past their issue but since Crystal is no longer talking about it, they are going to call her a liar until she spills the beans. I know Crystal's "Dark Comment" was exaggerated and dangerous. However, in the argument with Kyle, she clearly referred to it being the initial issue between Sutton & Crystal. Kyle saying "No You Need to Stop." Is once again a Microagression. I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle is done after this Season because despite using her Sisters as stepping stones at the risk of their relationships she wants to be famous so badly, and now with her family's Netflix show coming she thinks she's to the Kardashian level. The semantics are important because the way you have it worded frames Crystal as the person in the wrong, when it was KYLE who was being absolutely atrocious. Denying Crystal’s experience, not understanding the concept of micro aggressions, calling her a liar multiple times. And to top it off Andy was doing the same thing to her. It was just terrible to watch.
Kyle’s dismissive and skeptical attitude with Crystal goes so much deeper than the surface.
She thinks she has paid her dues in race relations with Garcelle last season and thus doesn’t need to afford Crystal the same thing, nor does she think the audience will care if she flat out dismisses Crystal’s experience. In her core, Kyle does not believe Asians deserve a seat at the table when racism is being discussed. All she can comprehend are black vs white issues, and not very well at that. Only enough for optics.
And it’s clear Andy thinks the same way. Yuck.

Crystal lied this season just so she could have a story and drama to stay on this show. Watch her aftershow appearances, the two conversations in Lake Tahoe (one with Kyle and Sutton and one with Sutton alone), watch her go behind Sutton's back airing the "dark" claims to the other women, and watch Crystal on WWHL. The evidence is all there on camera. She changed her stories, contradicted herself repeatedly and deliberately became vague, ambiguous and deflective when her scheming didn't yield the support she was expecting from the other women including Garcelle. Sutton apologized because Crystal felt hurt and to avoid any further conflict or damage to her reputation.
Kyle is wrong most of the time. But in this instance she was right.

I don't think Crystal is good at articulating how she feels. Imagine a lady you don't know coming up to you to tell you a story about her daughter at a pool with a Black friend, Asian friend, and a red head friend. I think it is cringey. I don't think Sutton's intentions were bad though but I can see why Crystal felt uncomfortable.
@@bizzy1586 Is the story cringy, yes. If she felt uncomfortable she should just have said it the story made me uncomfortable and it was awkward when the group was asking for context. She was weirdly coy about describing the story when the group was pressing questions and said it wasn’t related to the story of her daughters friends. She kept on saying comments Sutton made (that weren’t on camera) were “dark” making everyone infer the worst. Just tell the group what made it awkward for you. This could be a learning experience for the group and viewers. It blew up when it didn’t need to be.
Crystal agreed to not bring it up again on camera after Sutton apologized. The other ladies kept bringing it up.
I'll give Crystal another season if she stands up for herself and doesn't take people's bullshit but she needs a better storyline
Crystal may have worded things about her and Sutton’s conversation in a way that could have damaged Sutton, but that microagression was still real to HER. Kyle was wrong to nitpick at it, because she won’t ever understand. But Crystal did word things in a way that i was a little taken aback.
It is frustrating to see Kyle respond differently to garcelle's issue and Crystal's issue. Light Crystal said, not everything is going to be resolved cleanly. There are people that have said things to me that have microaggressions wrapped all inside of them. Garcelle and Kyle have a different connection because garcelle is close to Kathy, so Kyle's going to be more inclined to work things out with garcelle even if she doesn't necessarily wholeheartedly believe that she did something wrong. Kyle can act her true self to Crystal because she doesn't lose anything by upsetting crystal. Crystal's not one of the Fox Force five, and she's also not close with her sister. People feel like when they express a microaggression that the recipient of the statement is just supposed to forgive them. In reality, if you say something that offends me, I don't really have to forgive you. It's nice to have the conversation, but the person that is wronged isn't required to do anything. At first I didn't understand Crystal's point, but now hearing that she and Sutton had a conversation, and sudden asked her to basically not bring it up again, show that Krystal is honoring a promise to Sutton over full transparency to people that may not ever understand it. And I feel like crystal is right. I feel that Kyle is one of those people that rationalizes why someone is upset with her because of how she would handle the situation and that's not the issue.
It's obvious that Sutton said something to Crystal, and Crystal taught her its severity. Sutton keeps skating pass this subject. Idk why they are acting like Crystal made this up in her head. I feel like they are using her mental health against her. She keeps having internal episodes and that's where the disconnect is coming from. She's not concerned about these produced storylines because she is in her head so much. As someone with CPTSD I know what Crystal means, even when she's being cunning. That doesn't take away from her experience with Sutton. Plus she's the only Asian cast member, so just like she's quiet for Garcelle's issues, they likely wouldn't relate to her issues. 🙄
It takes a very strong mental stability to be on this show. Many of the women are just horrible to each other. Like Rinna, Erika, Kyle, Dorit etc.
That said, I believe Crystal was wrong in this case. If she has personal issues or is mentally not strong enough to handle this show, she should not be on it, because E, R will not spare her. Just the way they handled her eating disorder was shocking. But Crystals entire story of the alleged "dark" comment doesn't exist. If you go back and watch the 2 conversations, she had with Sutton up in Lake Tahoe, which are both on camera and compare to her making rounds to the other women behind Sutton's back accusing Sutton of having said something dark, damaging, horrible etc you will see she isn't being honest. When she doesn't get the support, she had hoped for from the other women including Garcelle, she changes her story and become more vague, ambiguous and deflective. Even Garcelle asks her several times because the implication is that Sutton is a rascicst and Garcelle can't have a friend like that. Crystal then goes on WWHL and when asked by Andy she actually laughs, deflects and once again changes her story. Also when she was asked about it on the aftershow, she again laughed it off and deflected.
If Crystal was in the right and truthful she would have called out Sutton there and then, both in her talk with Kyle and Sutton and the one with Sutton only. It's not like Crystal said nothing, she was assertive and spoke her mind. She even baited Sutton with the "tell me you are that girl who doesn't see color" and took offense to Sutton saying she in fact didn't see color. So Sutton is not allowed to feel and have her truth, only Crystal is. Others have to conform to how Crystal wants them to feel.
Gacelle was right about Crystal; Sutton "should watch her back". It's dangerous to make up things and insinuate something factually untrue and non existing to make your own drama and story in order to continue on this show. Crystal also believes that people should not be pressumed innocent, until proven guilty. That's why, she felt Kathy requesting music by MJ was "problematic". The fact that he was acquitted by a court of law on all accounts does not faze Crystal. That's dangerous.
Rasicsm exists and its horrible and inexcusable. But we have to be careful to not throw that word around casually, insinuate it and label others, just because we don't like them or something they said.
I love Garcelle. She is by far my favorite. The only voice of reason. Classy, smart and a woman who has her friends back and doesn't tear other women down. They came for her. Her child. She is still standing. What a woman!

For some reason I think that maybe Sutton did say something that was wrong maybe with a hint of a micoragrestion but not purposefully. For example, Sutton has said on the show where she said she didn’t see color. Maybe what Sutton said was along those lines. However, I think Crystal started to like Sutton after they discussed it and moved on and didn’t want to say what she said. Crystal does need to communicate better and carefully as now she sees how people could use it against her. Also Kyle was going mad hard on her when she really should’ve done that for her sisters !

It was particularly glaring that Kyle said that Garcelle's case was "a very clean situation," which it is not. It was obvious that Kyle wanted to embarrass Garcelle. Otherwise Kyle wouldn't have waited to tell Garcelle that she never paid during the reunion. I thought Kyle was being petty, and for sure that she would never have ambushed any another housewife like that - but I don't think Kyle was feeding into a stereotype. I think Kyle simply felt entitled to embarrass Garcelle to take her down a peg, and that feeling was emboldened by race. --- A completely different read than what Garcelle took issue with on camera.

I always believed Cyrstal when she said Sutton said something off colour because of the way Sutton was the first season, the fact that Sutton never denied it herself is also proof that she did have the conversation with Crystal and she did apologise. The ladies only wanted to use this to invalidate Crystal and to turn her into a liar which she isn't. I'm glad Crystal and Sutton are in a better place now and as we see, none of the other women have changed. Kyle is vile.

THIS is not true. When Kathy told them about how MJ and herself said they don't see color, Garcelle cried: "When you don't see color, you don't see me". Crystal told them Sutton said the exact same thing. Yet, Garcelle didn't find it problematic when Sutton said it. Now, they only show the pool clip AS IF we all did not see the clip when Sutton said: "I don't see color". Calling Crystal a liar validates y'all are racist against Asians.
I don't think Crystal lied. I think that's how Crystal received what Sutton said. And then I think possibly more was said, that wasn't necessarily racist, but rather coming from a white person, ignorant or uncomfortable. And I think Crystal doesn't want to address it on camera because then if takes on another life and paints Sutton who may have said something insensitive as a racist when that wasn't her intention and I think Crystal is aware of that so she purposely skates around it. Also explaining your perspective to non minorities is not easy because they have not experienced it so it's normal convo to them but insensitive to you

Kyle has many issues, but… Crystal absolutely lied regarding Sutton. Her first major kerfuffle on this show was implying that Sutton is a racist, which is way worse than what annoying Annemarie is currently doing to Sutton (implying she doesn’t have a narrow esophagus - so stupid). I think it’s because she (Crystal. And Annemarie too I guess) came on and wanted to be with the “in” group, and what better way to do that than by going after Sutton. Having said all that Crystal and Sutton have since made amends… plus I have really grown to like Crystal. Her best moment was removing Jax, a child, from the situation of being cussed out by Erika at his own mother’s birthday party. Major respect and kudos to Crystal for that.
