Shell LEAVES South Africa After 122 Years! (Thanks BEE)

  • Shell is leaving South Africa due to a fallout with their BEE partner, which is owned by the ANC.
The BEE partner valued their share in Shell at 4 billion rand and demanded the cash, but Shell refused.
The ANC's greed for dividends and the grift of BEE are causing foreign companies to see South Africa as a risky investment.
The lack of regulatory certainty and policy stability in South Africa is a major concern for businesses.

_The average ANC voter has yet to suffer enough to stop voting for them._
Assuming we can trust the polls, as you guys have also been speculating, it seems a done deal that the ANC will win the next election but will lose their majority. A question you might want to poll your audience with, _what will they do if the ANC forms a EFF/MK coalition?_
In that eventuality, I will be taking my family out of South Africa as fast as I feasibly can, as will any sane person who's a member of the 'wrong' race. We should believe Malema when he tells us how he hates whites and wants to kill them, and a coalition with him will rip the mask off the ANC once and for all. As if we didn't know already.
At that point this country will no longer be South Africa, and its economy (the small part not yet looted or destroyed by the ANC) will equally cease to exist.
Also at that point, the racist ANC voters will discover their jubilation at the prospect of a 'blacks only' country will be _very_ short lived. When they start to cry that there's no jobs, no power, no water, no roads etc, I won't even laugh. I won't care except about a small group of friends still trapped here.

Why is your video full of lies... That's now how BEE works... If it does, explain McDonald's... Cyril sold all his interest in McDonald's just before campaigning to be President of SA, and McDonald's didn['t do another BEE deal, yet continues to HAPPILY LOVE IT in South Africa (see what I did there, so definately smarter and more informed than you) as they're considered EMPOWERED after the Shanduka deal...in fact FNB's BEE partners recently sold half their stake in FNB, FNB still empowered beside being below the threshold of the minimum BEE shareholding...
But at least now I know why we have the wort white people in the world here in South Africa...it's liers, pretenders, and geneally making-up-stuff ignorant wanna-be's making sure theyir own are and will always be misinformed and unable to think through any issues critically...
The saddest thing about South Africa is that WHITE SOUTH AFRICANS THE BENEFICIARIES OF APARTHEID, WHOM THE ANC IMPROVED LIFE FOR BETTER THAN THE NATIONAL RACIST, HUMAN-RIGHTS VIOLATING, MASS-MURDERING, RAPIST, National Party SCUM, and even pulled more of them out of poverty in 20 years than their own abusive racist party was going in another 60 years have never stopped to think...just to think...and actually appreciate how far better off than most of the world we are... A true picture of the concept and foolishness of WHITE-SUPREMACY... You're just making a whole generation ignorant and unable to solve their own problems,, and the day will come in a generation or two when this will come back to bite... And you'll talk of native South Africans like the USA now talks about China!!! Mark my words...and there'll be nothing white people know at that time to help themselves becuase they'll be used to blame it all on other peopel whom they lable and call derogatory names!!! GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THAT!!!

Shell may actually be correct in stating the BEE partner shares are worthless. If Shell structured the BEE shares by way of loan accounts, meaning Shell issues shares worth $X millions, then Shell would concurrently issue a loan account on their balance sheet that the BEE partner would have to settle in the future.
The BEE partner would earn dividends and have the option of settling the loan account.
If the BEE partner doesn’t settle the loan account, then the loan account will accrue interest and will upon sale of shares be offset against the loan account.
The opportunity for the BEE partner is to facilitate the growth of Shell. If Shell grows then BEE partner earns more dividends and the value of their share increase and hopefully out grow the value of the loan account.
Upon execution of the sale of the shares the BEE partner would received the difference between share value and loan account debt.
Shell is correct: Shell more than likely didn’t grow over last 25 years therefore their value remained stagnant while the loan account remained unserviced and growing, exceeding the value of the BEE shares.
One cannot decolonize maths and accounting.

It has steadily and deliberately been selling downstream assets for over a decade. In 2011, it announced its intention to divest most of its shareholding in its African downstream business (excluding South Africa). This included Botswana, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Kenya and Namibia. In 2014, it sold its Australian downstream oil assets (including 900 service stations) to Vitol and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
In 2016, it got rid of its Danish downstream assets (230 retail stations) and last year it disposed of downstream assets in Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia (a total of over 250 service stations).
