The only thing that matters here is the finely established gentleman in crocs in the blind

The man is back!
So glad to see your name pop up. Missed your videos man can’t wait for this year !
I appreciate you watching brother! Gonna be lots of new content coming soon!
Been a minute for sure...nice hunt! Call sounds great! Can't wait to see the other hunts from this trip and how the dog is progressing.
Thanks Aaron! The rest of the trip didn't disappoint, let's just say that the wigeon action got even better..
Been missin ya! My favorite content to watch comes directly from your channel;)
Just needed a little break! I appreciate the patience, got a bunch of videos that I'll be dropping from here on out and through the fall!
Welcome back
Great shot @ 6:15 Your cinematography has vastly improved over the years keep it up!
nice hunt buddy❤
Glad to have another hunting video. Love your stuff
I appreciate you watching! Got videos from the rest of this trip coming very soon!
Love your show. Looking forward to more kayak hunts too. Glad to see you back with new footage.
Thanks Jason! Hoping I’ll be able to do a bunch of kayak hunts this coming season!
The wigeon is by far my favorite duck… this is the hunt of my dreams. Awesome hunt and awesome footage man.
Thanks brother! They're one of my favorites to so this was truly a dream come true
Can't wait for the dove hunts
Got a couple really good ones from last season that I'll be dropping in a couple weeks!
Glad to see you’re back posting, awesome hunt and great sounding call
Not having any management stuff up here in MN has put a bit of a damper on my desire to make off-season content. Hoping to find a place to do some work on at some point!
Thomas I like seeing you hunting around the country sampling the different flyways as well as varieties of birds. Back n my day , well at least in the last years I hunted the shooting would last 10 - 15 mins and still dark except against the sky we had a hard time not just distinguishing species but gender and for while we were on the point system where a Susie mallard counted 70 points while the drakes were 25 each. We generally only had mallards with a few Woodies , squealers , mixed in. I learned the Greenheads would typically let mamma fly ahead and to watch for the black V when they got up flying away on their tail feathers. Killing a hen mallard first bird severely limited your bag limit. I don't recall the point nos Woodies carried but at least a pair without any big ducks would have been correct. It may seem like I'm joking about the time birds here fly to morning feed but we got used to shooting untill the morning flight was over # 15 min then picking up so as to not spook a flight out retrieving a bird. This worked untill nontoxic required shot limited us to use steel and we learned it would knock birds down but if not retrieved time they splashed down they could get hid and possibly lost. I never hunted without a lab untill my last few years and it adds so much to a hunt to not lose cripples nearly as often as well as watching some well remembered retrieves my buddies occasionally made. ( They were worth their selves in a dove field too)
You are an awesome duck hunter and a lab on your team would be an asset I garentee.
Good luck, hunt safe my friend.
@@HokeOutdoors Totally get it. Maybe you can find a land owner that will let you work on the property. I have found trading services works very well. Posting property, clearing overgrown access, removing beavers and controlling invasive weeds have been my go-to for bartering land access. Good luck!
@@Yellowlab247_NC_Outdoors I leased a couple of ponds years ago that for whatever reason always had a few ringnecks coming from a large natural lake that's a refuge , I believe. It worked great for a couple years , good shooting , for black heads anyway and I had permission to fish. They were loaded with bass and I'd get off night shift just right to fish a couple hours topwater. Its tough with most land being deer hunting clubs and that's to be expected. If any club also has some duck shooting, many do the members soon shoot it out.
After Thanksgiving it's hard to see more than a kingfisher visiting. Beavers have been the biggest blessing to the freelance duck hunter but lately they do everything but carpet bomb with B 52 s at the sight of a beaver dam. Some of the prettiest and best duck habitat was the work of a family of beavers.
Good luck looking. I duck hunted 12 months a year looking for the next best spot. One thing they all had in common.
Something always ended each spot either shot out, trees and cover died out, no hunting signs came out, I finally wore out, lol. I.did enough damage and loved every hunt.
Welcome back Thomas. Hope life is treating you well. Tick tick the summer is creeping by 😶
Great video! Keep up the good work!
Looks like north central texas right there!! Always enjoyed good duck shoots out around Crowell
It’s an awesome area up there for sure! Can’t wait to get back in that neck of the woods already
Nice video Thomas
I've never seen such large flocks of Wigeon !
Thanks Don! Those were certainly the biggest flocks of ducks that I've ever seen!
Boy this a dry spot in my mouth I just can’t wait
Great to see you guys making videos again!!! Glad to be back into duck season. Excited to see this year annual goose float down the river.
I appreciate you watching them! Unfortunately I'm expecting to miss out on the goose float this year. Gonna be up exploring the last frontier instead.
Glad you're back!!!!
@HokeOutdoors Watching lots of your content! Helps inspire mine!!! Keep it up man!
Been waiting on a new video from you wasn’t expecting a never seen hunt. Time to start getting ready for this season hope it goes well for ya. Central Louisiana here.
Thanks Keith! Got about a dozen never before seen hunts that I'll be dropping throughout this month and into the fall. How are things looking down your way for the season? Looks like a pretty good hatch this year up this way!
@@HokeOutdoors well waters pretty low this year but we’ve still got some. Hoping for some good cold fronts to push some birds down. We open on November 18th. Counting it down man!
Thomas, love the videos! Please start back uploading.
I appreciate you watching them! Just dropped another one a few minutes ago!
Thomas, your videos are great. I would love to see some dove hunts from the upcoming September season. Hope you have a good season this year!
I appreciate it! I have a few dove hunts from last season that I'll be posting towards the end of August but I'm planning on spending this September in Alaska so I don't think theres much opportunity for doves up there
@@HokeOutdoors but there you can hunt mosquitos of the same size of doves 🤷😂
I thought something bad happened to you or you've got sick.. glad to see you again bro.
Love the videos man that franchi is looking rough man might be time to retire it and maybe pick you up a benelli😂
I might pick up a 20 or 28 ga Benelli at some point but gonna keep the Franchi as long as she's spitting out shells!
Nice hunt! I've seen more beautiful blinds but the important thing is that it worked well 😂 😂
It was definitely on the simpler side but can't knock it if it works!
Great video as usual. I have not seen your videos for a long time. Hope you are doing well. Looking forward to your new hunting videos.
All the best
Thanks Nasser! Everything has been going well, just a busy past few months between the puppy and work. How have you been?
@@HokeOutdoors Doing good thanks for asking. Love to see more river goose hunting videos this year.
@@nasserkuzbari2205 unfortunately I think I’m gonna miss out on the September goose floats this year due to being in Alaska
@@HokeOutdoors Hopefully you will be hunting in Alaska!!! Best of luck on your trip.
Two months till opening day in NYS! October 7th can't come quick enough!
It'll be here before we know it! How were y'alls breeding numbers up there this year?
@@HokeOutdoors, saw quite a few wood ducks and mallards while spring turkey hunting. Good enough for us to get an increase in the amount of mallards we can take! Went from 2 mallards only 1 hen to 4 mallards only 2 hens!
Happy you’re back. Was wondering if you retired from CZcams. Hope all is well.
Thanks Maurice! Just needed to take a little break so that I could focus on training the pup and didn't get burnt out on making videos!
@@HokeOutdoors yeah I hear y’a. You were pumping out videos left right and centre. Keep up the good work. We really enjoy your videos.
Good to see a good widgeon flight in a loaf pond instead of a dry field every time you see widgeon hunts they're always in some dry field or something like that!!! Good video
Great to see you uploading! Hope the summer has been good and the pup is progressing along. Did you apply for a SD non-resident license this year?
The pup is doing well (down at the trainers for FF right now) and I did pull the SD 10-day for this year. Not sure when I'll be able to swing down there quite yet but if you want to get together for some hunts just give me a holler!
Great hunt. My favorite is getting the limit and watching them still come in. What kind of mount for a iPhone holder would you recommend? We hunt panel blinds so something I could secure to a panel blind. Keep it up!!
Thanks Matt! I don’t use any iPhone mounts so I can’t offer much in that unfortunately. In general I would try to find something that can clip onto a stake or tree branch though cause the blind typically moves at least a little throughout the hunt
dude wasnt really picking up the widgeon. he was showing off dudes crocs
Something tells me if you were back East, that would not be enough Hide 😁
You are probably correct, although as a general rule of thumb I would say that wigeon tend to be one of the least wary species from my experience
Is that your old franchi affinity? How is it holding up? Thinking of buyine one, any problems all these years? thanks,
Awesome hunt man. Love seeing those ducks just do it. What is that bag you have? It’s like a backpack and it looks waterproof?
Thanks buddy! That's the Final Approach waterfowl backpack. I really like the design but unfortunately the zippers on it didn't hold up last year. Hoping they'll make improvements on it for this season
Is this around the whitesborough area?
Your buddies need to hold on a little on the shots and wait until everyone has the opportunity to shoot.
I felt like they did a pretty solid job of picking their shots. Always gonna be a few mess ups on every hunt but there were plenty of birds to go around
Incredible hunt! How’s that puppy?
He's doing well! He's down at Dynamic Retrievers right now for force fetch. Looking forward to getting him back in a month or two!
Can't wait until I get my pup back as well he's been gone for 7 months
How’s the pup?
Doing well! He’s down at the trainers for a couple months for force fetch at the moment
Around 18:40 ish did you guys pull off a double ??? Definitely reminds me of filter " thats why i say hey man nice shot """""*"""""
Haha yeah my buddy Chase pulled a scotch double on that flock! Better to be lucky than good!
“Wring his neck.” Seriously. Time to invest in some Finishers.
I've had a finisher, wringing their neck is a quicker way of dispatching them in my opinion
Where do y’all hunt
This was in Texas but I've been lucky enough to hunt a few different states over the last couple years!
Do you see many widgeon in Virginia
Not many at all. You can find some out by the coast but they don't seem to come inland much at all
Hopefully people see in my comments that I said at the start I was going to be on your neck but I was hoping you got better and weren't water squatting birds but immediately you cease to amaze me
For those of you all that don't understand what's going on this man is shooting birds before shoot time and after shoot time he's shooting birds on the water when it's literally like shooting fish in a barrel duck hunters out there or youth hunters thinking about getting into duck hunting please do not do this nobody cares how many birds you killed it's all about the experience and the sportsmanship if you can call in a wild animal and get them into your decoy spread than yes by all means take the animal!!!! However it is not fair Chase anymore if you're shooting a 12-gauge shotgun 25 yd away at something on the water!!! Shoot the bird in flight that is why it's called duck hunting not shooting just like fishing is fishing because you don't get to just snag them!!!! What do you think about fishermen that go out just nagging fish there MR HOKE!!!???? It's the same exact concept shooting birds on the water!!!!! Unethical and unsportsmanlike to say the least the only time you shoot a bird and the water is to finish them off if needed...otherwise it's in range AKA no skyscraper!!! And in ✈️ flight!!!! Duh
I'm on your neck again kid you doing a little better actually shooting birds in the air and not shooting them too far let's try not crippling birds this year and not wasting the resource!!!! You're getting better
You had me at stick blind. What an awesome hunt!
Thanks buddy! Definitely took some inspiration from you in the design!
I can’t imagine how fun that would be. Love to see y’all smoke those ducks!👍
