There’s clearly a story behind this video and it should be shared. It’s not just them singing a song. This is Karinya Chen. A 15 year old girl who had battled terminal bone cancer for 5 years. She was at “Hospice Austin” and had tickets to go see a Florence and the Machine concert. She couldn’t due to health concerns. But the hospice reached out to Florence and was able to explain the situation and Florence came to sing just to her. With that being said this day was clearly something very special and since unfortunately Kenya has passed away. These acts of kindness are what makes this world so nice to be in and makes us realize how precious not only life is but how important something as simple as music can be to us in times of need.

I'm sorry for your loss, Tyrone. I hope you've healed a bit and I hope you can love another again. You're worthy of more love, kindness, compassion, and you're worthy of being held in someone's arms again. "When does a man die? When he is hit by a bullet? No! When he suffers a disease? No! When he ate a soup made out of a poisonous mushroom? No! A man dies when he is forgotten!"
Obviously a lot of awesome stuff in this video. But one small observation, Florence mentioned "they don't really do this acoustically" and right on the spot, not only did they figure it out between the two of them, but they absolutely killed. It was like they've done it this way a million times. What talent.
@@Nursegirlalexandra Sorry I wasn't clear- I meant she put herself in a bad singing position just so she could hold the girl's hand, which was a lovely touch.
I was lucky enough to work security at a one of her recent concerts. Florence has a wonderful gift. Her fans adore her for good reason. I watched her memorize them for two hours. This women was touched by an angel.
"I met the devil. He gave me a choice. A golden heart, or a golden voice," she says at the end of "Girls Against God." Seems like she got both anyway 😁
the emotion in her voice, I can see she comforting her touching her hand at moments and giving her all love and good vibes on her way too. I love this.
GOOD LORD THIS IS SO POWERFUL. Also makes me feel so stupid for sometimes thinking I have it hard. I come in from a bad day at work and think my life sucks because I have to work a job I hate. Then along comes this incredible woman laying in bed who would give anything to have my health and be able to get up and go to ANY job, however bad it might be. I can't imagine what this poor girl has been through. Yet just having someone she likes come in and sing a song for her is enough to forget the world, lay back, and enjoy the music and the moment. Kind of puts things in perspective. My little problems are so stupid. I have good health, good family, financial security, and many more years to give. Thank-you, Ms. Chen, for helping this man to appreciate the things I have in life. I hope and believe you are in a place where you have nothing but good things.
I felt that in my bones, we’re so blessed with so many things that we forget to be grateful enough for, I’ve been feeling a bit sad the very few days due to things I did wrong and blaming myself for past mistakes, then youtube recommended this video for me and it’s the first thing I watched in the morning and It’s just what I needed, what we needed I guess, health is precious and it should never be taken for granted because we don’t know what life hides for us.
I simply can't imagine being able to sing well enough to sound like THAT, sat on a bed in a hospice room but, that wonderful voice pales in comparison to Florence's wonderful heart. Rest in peace Karinya.
Don't care about your sexist comments. I said what I said and I meant what I said. Are you jealous you don't look like that or? Coz all I did was appreciate his good looks. Don't have time for this bull
When she sat down and held her hand, it got me 😢 this was a beautiful video. The smile on the girls face even with everything she is going through. Beautiful brave strong woman 😊
I've watched this a few times now, not to indulge in sadness or anyone's pain, but because it's such a beautiful reminder of why simple kindness is important.
I have watched it a bunch too. I love the energy, joy, and love. Florence (and the machine that altered the guitar) gave such an incredible performance. Every note was perfect, and I could feel the passion. It makes me cry every time.
Indulgence and compassion are very, very different. Don't feel shame for being empathetic. That's the importance of kindness you're speaking of on an even deeper level. ;)
She died in October. She had got much better, she had left the hospice. There is an interview with her on a channel called xcan. She died in her sleep. She will be missed by thousands.
Just now seeing this. Florence is the most talented female singer of my generation. But the other amazing thing is you can see how kind, sincere and humble she is. She gave her one of the best experiences. I think I saw below that she passed away. RIP sweetie. I'm hoping you're in Heaven now and can hear Florence whenever you want. 💕
Music is a universal language that transcends culture, race, religion and breaks the barriers between us. It is something we all can feel and understand and connect to. Through it we find a common ground where we can be united in hope, love and harmony with one another. This intimate performance might just be the very best example of that.
Florace and the machine are banned in a few Islamic countries for being 'unislamic'. Same with Beyonce, and Cher to name a few. Music isnt some cure to hate as we put it on a pedestal. Its just sound waves we relate to real world feelings and emotions. Sorry
That says something terrible about man’s religious beliefs though, not the power and transcendence of music. Anything that has the power to bring people together will always be seen as a threat by institutions, it always has been that way, and likely always will. And technically yes you are right, but its only sound waves if you’ve never been moved and stirred inside by good music. To me that proves it’s much more than just that.
@@xfreyax1556 There was an offensive comment making fun of Yaya's death above mine that I was referring to- not the poster's comment! It's apparently been deleted now.
Damn. This touched me.. I used to go play for the folks in hospice.. it was a beautiful and heavy experience.. some don’t have family to visit, some had dementia, some cancer.. but you could always see the suffering eased just a little whenever I played them the songs they loved. Dammit.. I’m crying. Need to start doing that again. If you have a musical gift, this is one of the most sacred ways to use it. Please do it if you can ♥️🙏
Awwww sweety humanity is everywhere you look! Babies smiling, people letting you cross the road, hugs, saying hello to strabgers, petting a dog or a cat, helping someone by holding a door open. Be that which you seek and it will find you. Those who bring sunshine to the life of others cannot keep it from their own.
Sometimes I get so fed up with humanity, and then there are times I'm at awe. You are defined by your actions. Choose to make the world a better place. Bless you Florence. I love you all.
I recently watched a TikTok about Karinya’s story and how Florence came and performed for her. Her vocals are amazing and paired with the story makes for an emotional experience. Bravo to her for pulling this off.
I saw Florence live in New Orleans in 2015 and she was incredible. Her energy was insane. Probably the most passionate performance I’ve ever seen live.
Jesse Sammut god damnit, you're right. Your so goddamn right, ugh I swear I'm not crying.. I've just been infested with ninjas cutting.. onions.. Who am I kiddingg, I'm weeping.
I’ve been bawling my eyes out over this video for 20 mins. I just can’t stop crying. Even in the hardest, final moments music can still touch the human heart.
I don't know how how she did it. I would be breaking down so hard. This is such a beautiful moment and so impactful for both of them. I am sure Florence was full of emotion during this just knowing how she came for this private concert. I love her so much for changing this beautiful girl's life like she did
She's like a nurse giving a whole different kind of medicine. When she sits with her and sings directly to her giving her this intangible gift. THIS is the power of music.
This is the most amazing performance I think I have ever seen. So raw and full of emotion and compassion. God bless Florence and the guitarist and the sweet angel who has passed on.
Whenever I think life is tough I revert to this video. Always changes my perspective, makes me cry, and reminds me to be grateful for every moment in life
I think when you realise that this isn't a hospital, but a hospice centre, makes this video hit so much harder. The fact that she chose this song, it puts a positive spin on death. The pain is over. The dog days are over. The dog days are done. RIP Karinya.
Wow... another reason to love Florence and the Machine... I lost a cousin that was like a brother to me at 19, he was 18 and 23 years later I will never forget him... Thank you for this video.
Second day watching this. The happiness in the girl's eyes really tears me up. We're here to try and make one another happy in a sometimes shitty world. That's it.
When she starts the feels and just grabs for her friend, and florence sits and holds her. Feels. I'm sure her family loves this moment and the rest of the world feels their sorrow and love with them
I come back to this video every time I feel like I’m struggling or sad or angry or something. It makes me angry at myself for being ungrateful or being selfish. It makes me realize that I need to stop making excuses in my life for everything and do what I’m scared to do and work harder for what I want and be kinder and be nicer and be more grateful for everything I have.
That's really beautiful. I wish all the love and strength to you in all you do and wish to do. You'll be successful In whatever you put your heart and soul into.
The video is the story of a day in the life of Angel Karinya; being filmed by her loving Mom. (channel owner) Florence learnt they had tickets for her concert. However, Angel Karinya battling cancer fell too ill to attend. So the beautiful Florence brought the concert to them! Yes those dog days are over!
Incredible video. Imagine being asked to sing dog days are over for someone who is only a teenager and in hospice because they have battled bone cancer for 5 years out of 15 they have lived. This whole moment is why every moment matters in life. Enjoy every second you are alive.
This sweet girl was in the room next to my son, when he was just starting his cancer journey. I never got a chance to meet her, but I saw her alot the first week we were at the hospital. RIP
Anytime I need a good cry I watch this vid. Just watching that little girl and the joy that she felt at that moment is priceless. Florence gave her everything she had. It’s one of the most selfless things I’ve ever seen. Brings tears to my eyes.
What comes to my mind is that sweet girl, hauling down the road in a convertible, hair flying in the wind, music cranked and feeling no pain or sadness. I hope that was how she made it to the ever-after.
I'm normally quite the ice queen, but this has got me tearing like a baby, what a lovely and humble thing to do. Bless her, rest in peace little lady :(
Indeed, and Florence also yet again proved that she's a natural talent in the art of singing. No autotuned bullshit, natural talent as much as it can get. :)

I consider myself a stoic. Apart from this being my favorite song of all time, the palpable compassion of Florence Welch and obvious love in that room made me cry.
Stoics cry, too. It might even mean more when we do because those tears are held and only released for the things which touch our souls. I cried, as well. Always do w/ this video - the emotion in that room bridges time and space. Here we are 7 years later and yet transported in time to join all the love in that room with our tears mixed in.
I have a handful of videos that I watch when I need to get my head on straight and get some humility and perspective. This is one of them. Yes Florence is lovely and incredible here - but Karinya’s light also shines so gloriously. You can feel that she was a beautiful young woman and it is impossible to accept that she had to fight cancer and die so young. And yet, we all stand skin to skin with the shadow of death every day, though we like to tell ourselves “not me.” Deep down, we know we are always on the razors edge and that someday, it will come. And I don’t know if it’s worse to fight the long battle she fought - or to die suddenly having never had the chance to come to terms with death, get Your affairs in order, and say your precious goodbyes. What I know is that this video and the incredible people who made it happen, her hospice in Austin, her friends and family, and yes Florence and her crew, has brought Karinya and her light and her fight into the hearts of so many. She will stand as a beacon to thousands, even millions, for always. A beautiful frail reminder of our own mortality and how precious each moment is. Strip away what doesn’t matter. Forgive. Expand and widen your circle of love so that you have it to hold you up when YOU are frail, let go of your petty hatreds and focus your energy on those who love you back - adore them, revel in them, take time for silence and nature and yoga and walking - as well as time for adventure and fun and doing what scares you! And do that one thing you’ve been meaning to do to make the world better. Start today. Stop making excuses and take the first three small steps so that when your time comes, you’ve left a small legacy - you’ve made the world just a little bit better by being in it. Expand your kindness. Get crazy generous and compassionate. Don’t get bitter. Practice your gratitude. Breathe in your life while you are still fortunate enough to have breath in your lungs. 💛. Thank your Karinya for sharing your vulnerable time with so many of us. Your light will not soon be forgotten. You mattered. We honor your beautiful smile, and your short but important life. May the good people who knew you wrap your mother up when she needs it. For no one could ever touch the pain of a mother who loses her precious baby girl. My deepest love to her and to you and to Florence and to everyone who watches this video. Kindness is the way. It is the only way. 💛

I just imagine as your falling "THANK YOoooouuu" as it gets quieter
Haha but she won't cause she's nice💖
Same lol
LMAO
Whenever i need a good cry i come here. Not because the video is sad but because it carries so much hope, compassion, friendship and love 💕
This is the side of humanity that gives me hope
the emotion in her voice, I can see she comforting her touching her hand at moments and giving her all love and good vibes on her way too. I love this.
Love, kindness, and loving touch such as hugs or handholding heals.

The power of love.
I feel this sentiment too. But remember, your pain and struggles are always still valid.❤
I simply can't imagine being able to sing well enough to sound like THAT, sat on a bed in a hospice room but, that wonderful voice pales in comparison to Florence's wonderful heart. Rest in peace Karinya.
I love how she made sure she sang the whole song and gave her all the time she deserved 👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Your body is just..wow
@big carp catcher she must be a horny little devil ain't?!?! Especially making a sexual comment on such a sad video clip about a dying child. Oh my...
@big carp catcher oh hell no.. And he didn't even respond to it because it's just not the time nor place.i was suprised when I Saw that

How do you know she died tho?😢
meandendo she died of what?
When she sat down and held her hand, it got me 😢 this was a beautiful video. The smile on the girls face even with everything she is going through. Beautiful brave strong woman 😊
I've watched this a few times now, not to indulge in sadness or anyone's pain, but because it's such a beautiful reminder of why simple kindness is important.
I have watched it a bunch too.
I love the energy, joy, and love.
Florence (and the machine that altered the guitar) gave such an incredible performance. Every note was perfect, and I could feel the passion.
It makes me cry every time.
I completely agree. Those of us who are healthy should embrace EVERY SINGLE DAY WE HAVE! And share it with loved ones!
This is a wonderful statement about the compassion of music. Period
Absolutely
Indulgence and compassion are very, very different. Don't feel shame for being empathetic. That's the importance of kindness you're speaking of on an even deeper level. ;)
rest in peace karinya you will be missed by thousands, thank you for leaving an everlasting print on me🙏🏼❤️
Wait? Did the girl on the bed die? :c
Dylan Ng yes 💔xx
Cameron Hill so sad! God bless her and her family
She died in October. She had got much better, she had left the hospice. There is an interview with her on a channel called xcan. She died in her sleep. She will be missed by thousands.
what she had guys? ):
Her voice is so gorgeous even in a little room with just a guitar. This song must hit hard after battling illness
Both beautiful souls.
Roger Moreno some say music is evil
Black White you’re really missing the point here
@@RainyRunningRiver would say that is true. But music is great. 2% of people in the world don't feel emotion when listening to music

Please do it if you can ♥️🙏
That's beautiful. ❤
Wow. I have a whole new admiration for Florence and her talent.
I needed something to help me believe in humanity again. This helped. Even if only a little.
Linds Tee don’t put you’re trust in humanity. You will be deceived.
Same....Unfortunately these acts, such as this one, are too far and far between.
That's smart but don't live your life looking over your shoulder . Also Florence is a goddess
I don't want to be mean but how this helped you to believe in humanity?
Awwww sweety humanity is everywhere you look! Babies smiling, people letting you cross the road, hugs, saying hello to strabgers, petting a dog or a cat, helping someone by holding a door open.
Be that which you seek and it will find you. Those who bring sunshine to the life of others cannot keep it from their own.

Probably the most passionate performance I’ve ever seen live.
if that girl can smile then so can I

But he will remember and look back on this as a very special moment in time for his sister and be glad that he witnessed it.
i think he knows what was going on, it was his sister.
I thought the same exact thing.. no idea
I’ve been bawling my eyes out over this video for 20 mins. I just can’t stop crying. Even in the hardest, final moments music can still touch the human heart.
Gotta love Florence, no sadness just a tidal wave of joy, even when faced with a beautiful girl in her final days. Made my heart smile.
I don't know how how she did it. I would be breaking down so hard. This is such a beautiful moment and so impactful for both of them. I am sure Florence was full of emotion during this just knowing how she came for this private concert. I love her so much for changing this beautiful girl's life like she did
I think she got a little shaky when the girl started to cry but she knew she had to keep singing and doing her best because it was important.
Florence was amazing. Her lyrics are wonderful as well so, when she's singing, shes singing directly to your soul and spreading positivity and love.
She's like a nurse giving a whole different kind of medicine. When she sits with her and sings directly to her giving her this intangible gift. THIS is the power of music.
The lyrics are so beautiful. It was almost as of the song was setting her soul free.
yes.....

Yes. One version treats symptoms. The other HEALS.
She's like a doctor.
I'm so sorry to hear she's passed. Just stumbled across this video, it left me in tears. Such a beautiful girl

I think when you realise that this isn't a hospital, but a hospice centre, makes this video hit so much harder. The fact that she chose this song, it puts a positive spin on death. The pain is over. The dog days are over. The dog days are done. RIP Karinya.
Beautifully thought out and articulated.

This is the most beautiful thing ive seen today. RIP to the young soul. Dog days are over sweetheart 💖
