Business Analyst Interview Questions and Answers | 35 Essential Questions

- Practicing business analyst interview questions and answers are a key part of BA interview preparation. In addition to researching the industry and companies you will be interviewing with, being equipped with sample interview questions that are likely to be asked will be your biggest asset toward landing your next business analyst job. In this video, I’ll be sharing my list of the 35 essential business analyst interview questions and answers. The example answers provided are from my experience as an experienced business analyst. However, the answers can be useful for individuals with no formal business analyst experience as well. You would just need to reframe the responses to convey what you “would do” instead of what you have done in past. You can also pull from any similar experiences from the past that may also demonstrate some of the same skill sets. Also, be sure to incorporate the business analysis best practices that are provided in the examples.
In addition to the business analyst interview questions and answers, I will also provide the most common “types” of interview question formats and provide general tips on how to approach the questions when formulating your responses.

I don't believe this 😲😲 i thought that business analytics is all about using tools like excel,tableau, power bi, etc.
But after this I guess I need to work more on such questions and different business scenarios 😲.
You are correct, actually. That's because business analytics is slightly different from business analysis. Business analysis involves identifying business needs and determining solutions to business problems. Business analytics, on the other hand, involves the use of data, statistical analysis, and quantitative methods to derive insights and make data-driven decisions within an organization. Essentially, business analytics is a sub-set of business analysis since a business analyst may utilize analytics to help determine a solution. Also, there may be some difference in the role titles. For business analysis, the title is usually called a Business Analyst. For business analytics, the title is often call a Business Data Analyst. I hope that helps!

2) what was the most challenging and difficult situation you face in the current project - Generally, the most challenging situations on projects from a BA perspective revolve around stakeholders with conflicting priorities and trying to negotiate with the stakeholders to come up with a solution design that everyone is happy with. Another challenging situation might be overbearing stakeholders that derail the meetings. The way to address these types of situations is in the video I provided above.
3)describe yourself and why should we hire you - This question is another way of asking "what's your elevator pitch"? You can revisit question 35 from this video for a proper response to this.

You said test cases facilitated through acceptance criteria can be validated thru BDD or UAT
BDD ( u mean automated testing as referred with behavior driven) ?

Absolutely! They can be suitable for individuals with a wide range of experience. What's important is knowing how to answer the questions adequately based on your previous experience in addition to knowing how to apply BA best practices to situations that you may not have encountered yet.
