- Marine mammal scientists from around the country remove rope and fishing gear tangled around large whales. The first clip shows a dangerous and ultimately successful effort in Georgia in 2017 to remove a long rope and a snow crab pot from a right whale named Ruffian.

It’s really awful how much fishing tackle, and garbage are put in the oceans by humans.
Last year I went fishing off of a small pier, and my line kept getting tangled up in gobs of tackle in the water!
I feel really sad and shame... thank you guys for what you doing.. you guys are the heroes!!

The people doing this illegally won’t use tags and they’re the problem. Japan sells whale meat in their markets.
poor whales :( i thank you for what you do, but that hook at 3:34 seems dangerours to maneuver. i understand that it's not possible everytime, but i prefer the savings where people go in the water and calm the whales down. they seem to know humans are there to save them and they colaborate.
wish all the fishermen understood the harm they are doing with their fishing methods.

Watching whales get tangled in nets is so infuriating. These rescuers were able to save these whales but what about the whales that weren’t saved.
