Can I EXPAND FASTER than the RISE OF ISLAM?

- Today, we look at an EU4 mod - specifically the EU4 Extended Timeline mod! We're going to see if we can expand and conquer faster than the Rashidun and Umayyad Caliphates during the time of the Rise of Islam. To help, we get some incredibly OP modifiers, such as stacked discipline and morale of armies, making EU4 Prussia look like childs play. Definitely one of the best EU4 mods out there, so let's see, can I EXPAND FASTER than the RISE OF ISLAM?

Restoring Western Rome as Soissons at the 476 start date could be a fun challenge
and restoring Hellenism as state faith as a bonus objective :D
In my game italy was ironically the biggest obstacle, i had to bleed them in the mountains for years
I did that once, I was great power n.1, 200k troops and infinite money in the 800s, but then gave up bc I converted to Catharism, thinking that I would get good mechanics, but it gave me nothing.
Indeed
did that once, it's easy actually
the byzantines really blew a 150k troop lead 😮💨
They just weren’t ready for the smoke, what can I say 🤷♂️
Yarmouk moment
This is hands down one of the most chaotic campaigns I've ever played in eu4, glad to see you taking it on!
We’ve not even got started yet... stay tuned for my other video ideas.
@@TheSocialStreamers great vid hope there’s a part 2!!!👌🏽
Love the different scenarios you guys are playing. Hope to see one about retaking Iberia in eu4 with Asturias.
Ohhh this is a great one! Thanks!
@Ruben Brouwer retaking isnt actually a correct term. more like taking it as Asturias, as there isnt really any historical link between visigoths and catholic kingdoms that came after muslim invasion
@@alvarodominguez9362 the Visigoths were Christians at the end. Reconquista was about retaking the land for Christianity, which is a pretty powerful link.
@@markpozsar5785 yeah thats wrong. reconquista wasnt even a term until 19th century when with the birth and growth of nationalism, it was a perfect event to look up to. in reality, leonese, castilian y galician kings didn't feel it was an obligation or a casus belli to take that muslim land. they were just kings wanting more land, noting religious in it
@@alvarodominguez9362 If it wasn’t religious the Muslims wouldn’t been expelled out of Hispania. It definitely was. And there is a link, Spaniards are before getting mutt mixed white. Asturians mostly are.
play as a Germanic tribe and invade Rome there’s a modifier that make it easy to take lots of territory during the war against them.
This could be a lot of fun!
@@TheSocialStreamers in the migration age, you have a core when you invade a province but you will lose all your previous cores and provinces after the war.
The reason khalid has little fire is because his battles were truly cavalry ones, the way he could be depicted is having 9 shock or smth
9 shock and 9 mobility lol
@@jamesson1154 9 mobility is a bit much
@@Cecilia-ky3uw it’s impossible to accurately portray legendary figures in games without feeling like the character is a cheat. Khalid beat 60,000 Persians with a rag tag army of just 15,000. Then he beats an allied Roman/Persian army of 150,000 with just 40,000. To achieve those types of wins is impossible without cheating in EU4. It’s the same w/ the mongol empire, except w/ horde mechanics it better represents how easy conquest was for them.
@@jamesson1154Also, the mongols didn't need to trade for their food. They're called hordes for a reason - most of the "biomass" in a mongol horde is cattle and horses... and everything else they need to live. This is part of the reason they were so succesful in large battles, because they could just field more men for very little cost.
@@sandercohen5543pls tell me the name of the game
It hurts to see both Persian and roman empire fall to some dessert boys trolling but it's fun
Kinda happened in real life. Persia died and then Eastern Rome slowly withered away before falling to the Ottomans.
@@joshuapittman4663 after that persia somewhat recoverd itself into a shia empire but in the 16 century afterwards it was just declining ...
It hurt just as much seeing the might persian empire fall to a bunch of naked skirted femboys
If only Persia and Byzantium didn't pass the last century battling themselves, they could have faced the Arabs in a good state and maybe don't fall to them
@@GRANFRA99 yeah . poor persians recived the atack just after ther gained egypt and with no man power or morale they got beatten haaard
Rather interested to see if you can make the Rashidun Caliphate last longer than it did historically speaking.
I think it auto flips to the umayyads at a certain date
@@YNWMellyREAL probably does that if you chose uthman instead of Ali since the killing of uthman while caliph and the inaction of Ali to punish the killers is said to be the reason for Ma'awiyah bin abi sufyan to begin the ummayad uprising. Idk if the mod considers that but if it does then choosing Ali both avoids the schism (still happened technically upon the prophets death but for gameplay purposes no) and the cause of the ummayad uprising.
If im not wrong, you have to lose to the Ummayad rebels, that switches your country to the Ummayads, they have a different goberment, monarchic caliphate, but they lose the province integration event sadly
@@YNWMellyREAL Yes I played that mod. If he lets the pretenders win then it will flip to them
@@KarmaTheNarrator23 Does switching to the ummayads give you permanent wargoals and possibly cores on north Africa and Spain at least?
Amazing gameplay, but I gots to see more of anbennar soon, man! One of my favorite mods on steam right now
I always like to think about what would have transpired had the rise of Islam gone differently. Like, I remember that one of the Byzantine emperors was supposedly friendly with the religion early on (I am remembering only super vague details, but it was something along that line). What would have happened if the Roman’s had actively built relations with the Arabs during the conquests? What would the world look like if the eastern Roman Empire had co-opted the religion as the Roman’s had done with Christianity? Just kinda fun to think about.
Thing is, originally islam started as a Christian heresy. Think Arianism vs Chalcedonian. It only became what it is now, later on. So its much less “Byzantium converting to islam” and much more “Christian flavour being changed”. That’s why it wasn’t far stretched to even consider the idea.
@@marcofontinha6296 Citation needed, please.
@@brutusthebear9050 PfanderFilms' series with Thomas Alexander would be a good place to start. The Abbasids invented Islam.
@@DankusMemicus kinda cringe.

Significantly more cringe.
Loved the way you told us you knew everything about this timeline, then immediately forgot that Ali was assassinated!
straight from stream to video, awesome content mate
Thanks mate!
Really like the style of this video, i would definetly not mind seeing more videos like this. the scenario also seems very fun, maybe play byzantium next?
Do a campaign in extended timeline in the 1300s when the Ottomans appear (Technically irl the Ottomans appeared in Sogut in 1299 but in the mod its northeast of Sogut in the 1330s or so) and try to reach their irl borders in 1683. That might be a cool challenge!
Can’t out Rashid the Rashidun, may Allah be pleased with them. Great video tho 🤣🤣
Yo fellas this was a great video
One video idea I had was restoring the Persian Empire as the Bavandids in Mazandaran - you've probably read this from the three other comments I left on other videos, which I'll keep doing
much love :)
The Kushan empire (Indo-Greek kingdom) is also a pretty fun one!
Would it be funny if instead of continuing in Europe. You just decided to put your focus on China ?
I don't know how that works in this mod. But surely would make you soooo much stronger. And might also be a bit of a challenge, if you're up against the Han dynasty.
If you stick to it and manage to deal with governing capacity issues, the Rashidun mission tree sets you up for easy WC if it weren’t for that. The permanent modifiers you can stack from controlling entire areas and flipping them to Muslim are absolutely insane and OP AF.
It doesn’t really matter if you go after the Chinese or Europe. Altho it’s far easier imho to get the bonuses from European conquests since there are much more of those rather than in India and China. Also since they’re scattered among multiple countries, and weaker, makes it much easier too.
u have no idea how painful it was to watch it happen again man. good job. now I can feel a glimpse of the pain of my ancestors . 10/10
@@Babbling_Coconut I am the weirdest combination u can find . a north Iranian daylamite with partial Arab ancestry form Syria or yeman + Turkic azeri ancestry. I am sad guy in every single history class.
haha feels great as the other side
Ayo this is a phenomenal campaign, I'd love to see it continued
When is the Ulm meetup planned? There's a huge discout on train travel in Germany right now so I hope it's soon, othersise it'll cost a fortune to go
hands down one of the most entertaining and chaotic gameplay
It would be cool to see you play during the taifa period and maybe as an end goal avenge the bettle at Tours and conquer France
Cool mod, probably gonna check it out now. Looks a bit unbalanced tho
Historically accurate
The modifiers are tuned to make sure the AI is able to expand with historical success, in the player hands, you *will* go apeshit with them
It’s great!
@@gabeat_ Yet u have christians cry over the fall on the byzantine because of "internal issues" like the muslims did not had any.
History isn't exactly balanced
“Gonna go with Ali” 😅😅😅😅
It was a tough call, end of the day all the boys are talented enough to take the field but I made the choice I thought was best.
It’s a special bunch and I’m sure we’ll go far this season.

Laith saying "oh Jesus" as rebels rise up is pretty funny
Holy shit. When the fitna hits, it HITS
The Sasanidian empire was a persian zoroastrian empire they completly fell to the rashudin caliphate.
A few years before the rashudin caliphate invaded the sasanidian empire they had a failed invation of the byzantine/ eastern roman empire.
Dang that chad general especially khalid ibn-walid
By the way, it doesn't matter if anyone gets into your land during war. You can let their entire army in, and their provinces will be free to take. It doesn't matter what they occupy because the war won't end with a peace deal if you siege every province.
I have posted this under Zlewik's video as well, but during the fall of WRE reduce yourself to Italy only, unally the Byzantines and survive :) I think it is quite challenging
Great editing!!
very fun challenge: reach roman empire borders as rashiduns before the 'rise of islam' modifier runs out, so you technically only have 40 years.
Having vassal to fight your rebels is always useful
DUDE. What you do with the first and seconds Fitnas is you let them occupy your land. Then you'll transform into the Ummayads (and Abbasids with the second Fitna). Don't waste your time fighting them, keep your armies (and your manpower) far from the rebel stacks.
Fantastic video keep it up your doing amazing job
Thanks man!
I would love to see more of this!
Great video!!! But i am curious Can you try qurish(the first tribe how fought muslims) and win?
Its better to just let the rebels do their thing and accept muawiah as the caliphate, but if you defeats them as fast as they spawn the fitna will end and the name will change from rashidun to alids
Rather not have umawiah considering the shit he did historically like killing and drinking the blood of hz mohammads sons
Maybe Francia in one of the early dates (theyre playable already in year 58 or whatever the first date is) and conquer as much as you can, a couple centuries early?
10:38 you dont have to state the province you want to move your Main trading city to btw.
mashallah my man just expanded the first caliphat
How about restoring hellenism or druidism or something like that? I think the faiths are still around in like 700 AD somewhere, I'd like to see you have a more challenging start ;)
play as avalites in year 56 take all the techs via cheats and go for a world conquest. the fun is dealing with rebels and letting some client states do your job for you(or not and later dealing with them)
Imagine if the rashidun caliphate had cars and gas? Shit would’ve been world record WC
If toyata existed back then they def be funding every single war in europe/asia
Camapign really became vic2 by the end
ah yes, the islamic golden age of rebels.
its a great episode please continue
I hope you do the reconquista of Hispania with Asturias, that would be great
Nice video
Tunisia world conquest when?
1 min after posting.
Love your videos✌️
Thank for being early mate!
Give this save game to Zlevic lmao
You should have chosen the other ruler!
The Umar guy set up the Ummayad dynasty.
In the Game it says you that “more ummayads are joining”
This wouldn’t have happned as bad
11:22 why do you click the thing before moving ur units closer? you have 6 months to get ur units close so u dont get seperatism
It would be cool to do a scenario where you try to beat the spanish in the 80 years war
It's ilke twitch chat rising those rebelions. XD
Maybe founding the Carolingian Empire in EU4?
Two things, next time, hold as byzantium or as zoroastrian persia, or maybe make an alt hist with someone in india fighting the rashidun lol, in particular a persian run would be interesting
"I mean pretty big, but not like massive."
That's what she said.
i need part 2!!!
I love the channel and hope you guys will continue for many years. I would love to see a challenge where you tries to remake the Persian Empire from your own Muslime Caliphate
One run you could do is the 3 kingdoms period
Leader Rashidun (Khulafaur Rasyidin) :
-Abu Bakr (Abu Bakar)
-Umar ibn Khattab
-Usman ibn Affan
-Ali ibn Abi Thalib
those were the names of the Rashidun leaders, it should have been Usman first who became the third Caliph but you chose Ali so there is a historical change
I remember once playing as Rashidun, then overcome First Fitna, somehow i stay Rashidun but one of my vassal in Ethiopia (i forgot the name sry, the one just opposite of Yemen, there is a strait connecting them) suddenly become Ummayad.
And yes, they stay as my vassal, idk why or how
Is it possible that somehow the rebel got into my vassal territory while i didn't see, and manage to force it to accept their demand while i was busy doing something else??
Islam was literally the definition of an Age of Empires monk. Wololooo..
Hey laith you should play as Cao Cao in extended timeline
Now survive as the sassanids, i want suffering
I've seen an AI Sassanids beat the Rashiduns in a war, so it wouldn't be that hard.
what arab nation is laith from?
Tunisia!
@@TheSocialStreamers oh thanks man did not think you would reply after a day of the upload. thanks again.

I wonder if you can avoid the First Fitna by going with Uthman and keeping him alive, since theoretically that would avoid the Battle of the Camel and thus the death of Mu'awiya comrade's and if Uthman is alive Ali cannot be accused of his assassination, meaning Mu'awiya can't use that as a reason to declare war, plus Mu'awiya is related to Uthman
Or maybe the mod just forces Uthman to die, thus electing Ali and inevitably heading towards the First Fitna
Ali R.A. wasn't accused for Uthman assassination what are you even talking
@@NaderBerbish the people that supported Ali RA were the same people that assassinated Othman thus making some people suggest that it was planned by ali RA, although him and his children were at Othman’s house to protect him from the would be assassins

How does "Shia" even exist in a universe where Ali is appointed the successor to Muhammed lol
I guess shia is a more ali focused religion and the sunnis don't want to accept ali?
@@user-py1gl6xm4f The Sunni accept Ali as the fourth Caliph, they just think Abu-Bakr was the rightful successor to Muhammed. The disagreement isn't whether or not Ali is a legitimate Caliph, it's the order of succession. Since in this universe Ali is actually Muhammed's successor, a schism doesn't make much sense.
@@willa5891 i meant in the context of the mod, since the rashidun stayed alive, ali's descendant became caliph, so rather than in real life where the shia disagreed on ali not becoming 2nd caliph rather the shia's are more or less like a personality cult around ali(and his family) , or at least that's what i gathered from the short time i played the mod
@@user-py1gl6xm4f we shia believe in 12 divinely appointed Imams starting with Ali (as) and then his eldest son Hasan then Hussain, and then through a line of sons from Hussain. We believe the first 3 caliphs to be usurpers and basically they messed up Islam and fabricated all those hadith that you see the Sunnis have
edit: the sunnis believe that the leader of the Ummah should be decided by election and there are a number of points as to why that is invalid
theres never been a religious election before
peoples hearts can change and they may not vote on the actual best person
Ali was chosen by the Prophet anyway
You can play first Göktürks or Attila the Hun.
Wasnt this mod bugged? Havent played E.T for a long time now. They say Ai troops does not move after some centuries and rebels breaking countries...
It was a rebellion that claimed he was a prophet after the prophet Muhammad, if I'm not mistaken
Is there a timeline where it would be Rashidi Arabia today?
im so surprised he didn't use the missions which give him free troops to also do a simultaneous war against the byz. Also i always start at 622 because you get more time for the Rise of Islam modifier to expand
I also add a custom to Rub' al Khali so that i inherit it because i hate the random gap that is there
I one time tried doing it when the Rashidun’s first appear in I think 630…? Whenever the tag first appears with Muhammad, but the game constantly got bugged that even with Muhammad around, the Rise of Islam event that spawns the Rashiduns in that offers you the chance to switch to them, with Muhammad as ruler would keep happening. And so even if Muhammad swaps for Muhammad, since his death or him no longer being leader triggers the Death of Muhammad event, which starts the long event chain leading to the general chaos following his death, you’re trapped losing him and the crap that follows. Ruined that game.
