I think you are wrong about The Abyss not being sought after. There is a huge buzz about it.
Agreed, definitely! People have been waiting for this for a long time now!
Oh I’m sure there are people that have been waiting for it, I just think the demand for the other two is probably a bit more.
Yes from the comments I think I definitely misjudged the level of interest in it.
Like a lot of movies, I think it's popularity has grown since it first released. It wasn't a box office hit when it came out, and I think most of the reviews for it tended to be more negative than positive.
Speak for ya self , The Abyss is the only one out of them that i want. Each to there own!

Nah. I think the order of desirability is ALIENS, THE ABYSS and then TRUE LIES. There's a pretty decent fanbase of people who have been waiting for an anamorphic BluRay of THE ABYSS for a LOOOOOOOONG time.
From some of the comments I think I may have underestimated the demand for it!
Possible. I’m just glad we got all three on a version that’s not over 15 years old!
I think the abyss is the only one worth getting and a release that we needed. I mean who doesn’t already own the alien anthology on Blu-ray which is fantastic and I don’t see true lies benefiting from 4K or HDR in anyway like the abyss will coming from DVD.
The fact that The Abyss nor True Lies ever even really had a blu-ray, at least in the US is just very odd. At least Aliens does have the blu-ray, hell Im sure I’m going to keep my anniversary edition blu-ray of it even with the 4K.
The Abyss is a big movie. Maybe not Aliens but a big movie most people have been waiting on.

I was desperate to get this as my only other version is a non-anamorphic DVD. I am, however, a bit nervous about the DNR - I prefer grain- but I have taken the plunge and just hope I don’t hate it.
I got the the 4K I love it. Looks like a new film. Still waiting for MovieGuy365 to review it for a way better review
I think you will probably still enjoy it. Still looks really good even with the bit of DNR.

My homework? I was unaware that was some statistical data on how many people were waiting for the Abyss on 4K 😅
I received my copy which I preordered on Tuesday and love love love the looks. I don’t understand why so many people don’t like movies with no grains or minimal at best due to lose of detail but not true. It’s looks absolutely amazing and reference quality. It’s one of my best in my library. It still keeps all the details as grain lovers complain that it loses but again not true.
These high end 4k HDR TV’s pushes technology with higher FPS and 4k HDR. Don’t understand why people also don’t like higher FPS than 24FPS. This is like 100 years old technology and today we can do 48, 60 and 120FPS on these movies making the movie look absolutely amazing for today standards. Dolby Atmos is referenced quality as well. If you prefer grains than you may not like this much, for me it’s one of my BEST and highly recommend.
I think it is just a personal preference for some people. Some like the more natural look and some like the more digital filmed look. Nobody is right or wrong on it, it’s just what you like. I’m glad you enjoy it!
Yeah for someone who isn’t a big film grain fan, this will be great for them. Just depends on what you like.
I’m waiting for my copy to arrive, I live in the UK where the movie has been banned because of the Rat scene, some do gooder has decided it depicts cruelty to animals so unless the scene was deleted the movie was going to be banned 🤷♂️, I don’t care fir cruelty to animals but this is just taking things too far, typical British film board 😩, I’ve had to import my copy, hopefully it will arrive some time next week 🤞🏻
Yeah I heard about that. Considering the rat in the scene was perfectly fine, I don’t know why someone would complain. Probably someone who never even saw the movie, just heard about it and doesn’t even know the context. Glad you are able to get a copy anyway!
In Ireland here and I imported it as well! I think Cameron refused to remove the rat scene. It's kind of important in showing what the fluid does, but your laws don't allow it unfortunately. A bit silly if you ask me. Anyway, The Abyss is arriving in a couple of weeks for me so I can't wait. Didn't bother with Aliens. I think the blu ray is sufficient. And I'm not enough of a fan to buy True Lies in 4K- plus it looks woeful.

Don't care much for True Lies but The Abyss and Aliens are two I've pre-ordered.
I’m still waiting for Aliens to arrive. Not sure why it is taking longer, ordered all three at the same time.

@jamesa9278 I was in Walmart and saw Aliens. Picked it up and cancelled my Amazon pre-order. Still waiting for The Abyss. ETA is ... April 9th.
The Abyss is long awaited on a better format than the heavily letterboxed 4:3 release DVD I still have.
Screw Disney btw including for not doing Physical Media releases in Australia and leaving me paying a premium to get The Abyss 4K & Bluray imported.
Arrived today and is in my PC drive ripping (No Extra Compression) for my media player as I type this! :)
Yeah that sucks that you have to pay extra to import a copy. It’s crazy to see how some major movies are still only available on DVD! Not everything will have 4K but at least should have a blu-ray version!!
I also preordered Aliens on Amazon, then a day after release saw it was out of stock and they would notify mewhen I could expect a delivery date for my order - which means to me they sold more preorders than they knew they would have the stock to fill. So canceled the order and bought on the W site and expecting delivery tomorrow. ;)
Nice! I have seen that some people have had luck at Walmart as well. My Walmart sucks so I’m not expecting much when I go. Amazon gave me a release date of Match 25th for Aliens so I’m hoping it comes soon! Glad you are getting yours!
@@StraightToBluray Ordered it on their website. My local stores usually don't have a great selection, either - although they have added a steebook rack, which is a start. I did the abbreviation and left out certain words because CZcams initially deleted my post and I wasn't sure what was setting off what flags ;)
@@supertrexandroidx Yeah my store got the steelbook rack as well, which was a shock. I'll really be shocked if they keep it stocked however lol.

Disagree with your take about The Abyss not being highly demanded. Of the 3 new Cameron releases, it's the one I want most because I have Aliens in many high def formats but Abyss and True Lies haven't had home media releases since dvd. And The Abyss is a better movie than True Lies. So for me, The Abyss is the one I want the most, followed by Aliens which is one of my all-time favs. True Lies I will get if it hits the bargain bin.
Hopefully you enjoy the transfer! I’m just glad all three now have a 4K release!

That sucks. Can you still order it and have it shipped? 4K should be universal and not region locked.

@@jamesa9278Yes, at a higher cost plus import duty. All because of that scene with the rat they immersed in liquid oxygen. It didn't die, was fine.

Yeah unfortunately it seems like a lot of people have been having to wait on 1 or all 3 of the movies to arrive. Hopefully you get them soon!!
Can anyone confirm that the Blu-ray's"Not the Uhd" are in fact Region free and not locked to 1?
The Blu-ray disk that is included does say A,B,C on the actual disk art that is on the blu-ray disk, but I can’t 100% say for sure because I only have a region A player.
I can't comment on the quality even though I placed this order at Amazon as soon as it was posted months ago ... Well they did it to me again. I still haven't gotten it now it's out of stock everywhere last time I make a pre order with them it's not like I ordered at the last minute they do this all the time guess even though we pay for prime we must be on their "screw this guy" list or something
That sucks. It really is a pain when you preorder something well in advance when it shows that it is available and then you don’t get it when it is released. I’ve heard some people having luck at Walmart getting a copy, I haven’t checked mine out to see. Hopefully you are able to find a copy.
Very wrong about The Abyss... The cinephiles have been chomping at the bit for that one for a decade or more.
