    Hey, one key thing for basing is to glue down your large pieces (rocks, logs, etc.) first, then lay down your sediment, then paint, then seal with Matt/gloss coat then lay on your static grass/tufts. By putting the big stuff down first it get edged in your finer sediment and looks hella more natural. If your using big rocks like in this project it pays to have some transitional medium size stones. Paint the bigger rocks a different tone than the sediment. If you are using tufts then lay them on top of grass. Doing these things take no effort and make the base a lot more realistic. A good base goes a long way.

      James Flanagan got to give that a shot. Working on some cool minis, I will definitely need those tips.

    Fantastic build...as usual. Got some talent, son. The cloak is very dynamic, shows good motion and the detail and texture are great. The fireball...yeah, I'm gonna steal that. Nice job.

    Bad ass build Franky!!!
    When I do my bases, I tend to put baking soda down, followed by drops of liquid superglue. Then on top of that, I add some general construction sand like they use in concrete; then I dust more baking soda and super glue.

    • @FrankyDCrafter
      @FrankyDCrafter  Před 4 lety

      Franklin G. Roberts III I tend to forget about the base.

  • @LandvaettrsLair
    @LandvaettrsLair Před 4 lety +3

    Loved it! I think it looks damn glorious. The towering pose, the very nice purple ragged coat and the spot on OSL effect...Actually the skrew running through the base seems like the most sound option imo for a kitbach this size lol.

    That's amazing! And now I finally have a use for that bag of skull beads I bought on Amazon last October. The idea occurred to me not too long ago to make a custom Gravelord Nito using a little Ninja Turtle toy that I found at a Goodwill as a starting point, largely due to its automatically hunched posture and weird proportions (particularly its big, splayed-out arms).

  • @SparkSovereign
    @SparkSovereign Před 3 lety

    Great stuff! You asked for suggestions, so here goes; the cardinal rule of OSL is that illuminated areas should be brighter than not illuminated parts. The weird effect on the terminator where red gives away to base color can be avoided if you either 1) use glazes to do the darker colors in the light or 2) set things up so the shadowed side is even darker. Often, I'll do something not unlike zenithal priming, but coming from the light source, when I'm prepping the model; here, basically just imagine your initial drybrushing got much brighter as you approached the flame. You can get some really dramatic atmospheric effects doing this!
    I hope that inspires you to try something cool the way this is inspiring me to get my hands on more clay and order tons of dollar store skeletons!

      Bearsan Hatestrike ive gotten really bad clay from them before. But now honestly, you take a gamble no matter where you buy it from. This clay is supposed to be super white, so when you buy it and it’s off white then it’s not the right mix. Idk why they do that.
