    What's the furthest you've pushed your bike past the fuel light? How far did you go before running out, or chickening out? Let me know in the comments below!

    This was awesome. I have only taken mine up to 97 miles before refilling and I was nervous! Good to know I can probably take it to 110 miles if I really had to. I normally pull over and fill up when I hit 85 miles. Literally the ONLY drawback of the bike is its range. Thanks for taking one for the team.

    Fuel light came on at 98 miles and I got home with 30 miles showing on the reserve trip so 128 miles. It was showing around 42mpg.
    I filled it on the side stand so if I had filled it upright I could have got a little more fuel in

  • @RichDunn
    @RichDunn Před 3 lety +2

    I managed exactly 26 miles today running it in Street mode, keeping it on a steady throttle at 4k, and pulling in the clutch and coasting down the hills. Terrifying! 😀 I think that although the manual quotes 3.52 UK Gal (4.22 US), it is actually 'US' gallons,. Because after riding 26 miles with the low fuel light on (which we know from your 26.1 test it's on vapors), it took exactly 3.52 'US' Gal to fill it to the filler, with the bike bolt upright.

    • @projector7141
      @projector7141 Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you so much for that data. Curious why the computer said 39.8 mpg, because that doesn't compute even taking that into account. This is why I do this test on every vehicle I own. Most accurate was surprisingly my Alfa Romeo, which has an exact reserve of 7 litres and 63 litres total. I know I get 5-6 miles per litre on that. Fuel pumps in the UK sell in litres, so the sensible unit IMHO is miles per litre. Because I travel miles and buy litres. In Europe it should be km/litre. Then you only have to do one operation to know how long before you get stranded, or how much fuel to buy. This litres/100km nonsense means you have to do two math sums to know your remaining range. Trusting the computer is something you do ONCE before you get stuck. I drove my Jeep across Europe and ran out of fuel 5 miles from home. I got towed like 900 yards to a petrol station free of charge because I was on a dual carriageway hard shoulder that was well-monitored.

    • @projector7141
      @projector7141 Před 3 měsíci

      Also, on UK motorways (highways), I think they have to have a petrol station every 27 miles, with perhaps up to a mile or two of slip roads to get to them. So if your fuel light comes on when you're on a motorway here - you can't count on getting to another petrol station before you get stranded! Unless you are 1/3 of the way there! Hah that is why you need a fuel gauge.

    • @RichDunn
      @RichDunn Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@projector7141The US and UK gallons are slightly different capacities, and relying on the computer to work out your average mpg is a stranded vehicle by the side of the road waiting to happen. Best to test it from full until empty, then always reset the trip every time you fill up. Or reset the trip whenever you go onto reserve and know (test) how long you can run it until it dies, as we did. It's definitely handy to know. The most accurate bike gauges I've tested are BMW GS/GSA gauges. Those German's know a thing or two about pedantic accuracy.

The ONLY thing I don't like about the streetfighter is that it doesn't have cruise control, like the bmw does, and it doesn't have a visual guage to let you see how low you are on the gas.
