Japan is a country which heavily relies on fossil fuel to get its energy. Japan is very late in terms of adopting to renewable enrgy. But there is a catch. I don't believe Bangladesh should put much emphasis on renewable energy. Bangaldesh is not that big of a contributor in terms of climate change. Even if Bangladesh's 40% energy comes from renewable sources, that won't make much difference. But It might hurt our current economical progress. The global community should focus on reducing carbon emissions of bigger contributors like US or China, other than forcing us to do so. I'm not saying we should not focus on renewable energy, but that shouldn't be our main concern.

Bangladesh is not industrialised, that's why we don't produce CO2 that much. But as we progress towards a developed country, heavy industries will be established in the country, so the consumption of energy will increase too. We also need to keep in mind that our country is the most densly populated country in the world apart from the city states, so clean energy like renewable energy is important to keep our environment clean, to some extant.

The localized effects of climate change on our country is far higher than much larger countries. So for Bangladesh pollution is a death sentence!
Very constructive comment! Renewable energy should be the prime focus of the developed nations who are the major contributors of world pollution and climate change. Countries like us should be focusing on other aspects of development.
Policy suggestions coming from Japan is actually an initiative of Jera. Jera is a partner of Summit Power International based out of Singapore. Jera in Japan is a JV between Tokyo and Chubu Electric. They are major brokers in the global LNG sector. I think you can solve the math from this.😋

Biomass concept can be used for renewable energy source. Energy can be generated in comperatively much lower cost . No large area needed for production. And its carbon free. we can get not only electricty but also biofuel (biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas, gasoline etc) .

স্বাভাবিক নির্লোভ মানুষ যেমন চায় নিজের পরিবার উন্নতি করুক, স্বাবলম্বী হোক। তেমনি নির্লোভ সৎ মানুষ তার দেশের উন্নয়ন হোক সেই স্বপ্ন দেখে। বাংলাদেশ যেমনই হোক, এটা আমার জন্মভূমি। জানিনা আসলে কী, খালি ভাবতে ইচ্ছা করে দেশটা নানা কালো হাত থেকে নিরাপদ থাকবে ও সঠিক উন্নয়নের দিকে এগিয়ে যাবে। আমরা সবাই যদি হালাল কাজ করতাম, দেশটা কি আদৌ এমন থাকতো? 🙂

i have been working in solar energy for last 7 yrs. we already built one solar plant. yes, solar is a good option as you said but we face so many problems in land acquisition.
Why not on freely available lands? Roadside, government roof, private roofs.

সোলার তো বৃষ্টির সময় কাজ কম করবে কারন আকাশ মেঘলা থাকবে।

I don’t have detailed knowledge of renewable energy. But the least I know is, their establishment cost is much higher than traditional ones. But what about maintainence cost?
Is our economy has reached that standpoint where we can maintain and upgrade them all by ourself? Because, we can somehow manage a developed country to help us build them, but they won't aid us for maintainence. And the question of cost must not be answered with our total economy, rather, we have to find out, shall we be able generate enough revenue for that maintainence - from the sectors who will be using these energy?
Another question remains, which form of renewable energy is most suitable for us? Irregular rainy days are challenge for solar panels, Cluster of windmill that yields insufficient energy - do we have that constant flow?
Geo politics of suppressing the upcoming countries like Bangladesh by virtue of materials like fuel - must also be considered.

because those are cheaper. solar, wind and nuclear are very expensive and thus the initial investment is very high. coal power plants are super cheap.
everyone is committed to renewable energy nominally. In reality, renewable energy is neither cheap, nor reliable adn, in some cases, not event environment friendly.

Coal fossil fuel can be obtained from any country in the world. This means that even if the world is in turmoil, we can obtain fuel from each country relatively safely.
Japan, like Bangladesh, is a country that is very prone to disasters. Japan, in particular, has suffered from flood disasters for a long time. G7 countries other than Japan rarely experience disasters as big as ours. The energy policies of disaster-prone countries are unique. Renewable energy is an ideal energy policy, but it is difficult to implement unless you have a large area of flat land with mild weather. Solar panels require huge amounts of land. This means that if we increase the use of solar panels, we will need to clear down a lot of forest. And this equipment is very vulnerable to disasters.
Fossil fuels are expensive, but they prevent all energy from being lost in a disaster. Disaster-prone countries need to gradually prepare for energy in every possible way. The history of energy in Japan began with thermal power generation and hydroelectric power generation. I believe that Bangladesh will consider nuclear power generation after the science and economy of Bangladesh as a whole develops. This power generation requires many highly qualified scientists, so a large number of Bangladeshi people need to study for this purpose. The situation in Bangladesh is similar to Japan a few decades ago, so I believe that Bangladesh will grow rapidly in the future.
Tbh I would argue that initially we shouldn’t go for renewable rather use the conventional sources of power as building them is cheap and easy. When we have developed much then we should go renewable or fusion.
