    I used to travel by bus from Bhatkal, Karnataka ( West Coast) to Nagpur, Maharashtra, in 1990/1991. At that time the train route from Mangalore to Mumbai (konkan railway) was not in existence. I used to catch a private bus from Anantwadi ( near Murudeshwar) to Pune. This bus used to go via pune because the bridge on river at Punjim (Goa) had collapsed. I used reach pune early in the morning, and aas there was no bus from pune to Nagpur in mornings, ( all buses bound to Nagpur used to leave pune in the afternoon) I used to go to Nashik and catch Nashik to Nagpur bus at around 11 am and reach Nagpur late in the night.
    It used to be a long travel by buses and I had to catch three different buses which also contributed to a very long travel time.

    I am also from karnataka.. main reason for this is neglecting Railway line development in karnataka by Central government in past... in every state they prefer train, bus is secondary mode of transportation... and whenever a new train is announced for karnataka it will be travelling hardly 100 to 150 km in karnataka... not through full length of karnataka... but slowly things are changing..

    Why most of the long routes are from Rajasthan and Bangalore?

    • @consciousliving8922
      @consciousliving8922 Před 3 lety +1

      Because of Geography and Economic opportunities. Bangalore is in deep down in South from which any place in North India is far. Trivandrum is further south but unlike Bangalore Trivandum does not entice so many educated youth and businesses to set-up base in Bangalore. One may argue about Mumbai to Eastern India too. But Mumbai and Delhi do not boast about a strong upper middle class economy because of which the elite will prefer flight and the poor and the middle class will prefer trains which is much more cheaper. Bangalore is the only city which is so far away which can have flight passengers, train passengers also bus passengers as it can afford and sees lot of people in various upper middle class categories who need to get to point B at any cost.
      A similar case is with Hyderabad too which also commands similar kind of white collar working class.
      I don't think this list is complete and accurate but yes it has some facts.
