From the hateful, polarizing climate that still consumes my country , to my wife's alcoholism that led to her taking her own life recently.

glad I found your music I am dealing with a lot of guilt and shame from 30 years ago I am suicidal but you would never know to see me, your music has helped me deal with the pain and Darkness fly high Ren the world is your canvas
Have you tried juice feasting/raw vegan? i know what it feels like to want to die many times over and i suggest the only stuff i tried that helped me. Mentally changing is not always possible on its own and this new age guilt tripping we get of be grateful etc does not help. There is a lot wrong with what we as human being consume. The human body is full of shit. It effects us and stops us from processing emotions. We get stuck emotions and trauma in the body that builds and we get ill and confused.I've had glimses of true Clarity in what a preach. I still need to practice what i preach more but still i cannot help but suggest the stuff that i can guarantee will help. If you don't feel better after 6 months raw vegan or esp 2 months juice feasting then tell me i am wrong. I will be trying to do it too.

Today I went to a cardiologist who literally started to laugh when I had to list out my medical history. Cyclical vomiting syndrome, migraines, POTS, psychosis, and a few other lesser issues. The ultimate answer was drink water, eat salt. I came home to find this and started crying for the first time in a year. Thank you so much Ren, for everything you've done, you've helped so many people.
One of my favorite things about you Ren is not just that your duly earned, collective wisdom transcends time, spirituality, culture, or the human body but that you possess the will to act on it. That you choose to epitomize the meaning of life in any situation, and that's creation. That you have given yourself to this conviction and therefore given yourself to us. Given us, no matter what stage of development or time in our life, a lucid reminder of what we are and what we can be, should we find the courage and conviction to act on it. It's beyond infectious. Its purpose that you exemplify. We all have purpose and let's act on it or discover it together, because if we don't share it, then we might as well never have it.
Bless you and stay strong brother because while you may appear strong right now, I know that this power and responsibility you accept grows and tests your limits. It speaks to me very much as well it is liberating. I suffer from Adhd and bipolar disorder as well.
No matter how dark it gets, you’re not alone. You might not know them, they might not know you, but when it feels like there is absolutely nothing left to give and everything feels hopeless, remember there are people going through similar situations. Seek them out when you can and help them get through it together, it’s the only way I’ve managed the last 15 years with chronic pain, and the repercussions of trying to fix it. Laughing at myself helps, but there’s nothing quite like someone else understanding it.
My wife has been there besides me the whole time and she understood. Unfortunately she recently got diagnosed with a chronic issue and her realization of how bad it can get was a bit eye opening for both of us. I learned to open up more about the bad days and it’s helped quite a bit.
Not everyone has someone as close, though we often don’t know how much our friends/family are also struggling, and it’s a good rule of thumb to not trust, and open up, to random people on the internet, but there are some really good communities out there.

I am early stage Parkinsons and your music spoke to and of my disease and the battles I will be facing in the coming years and gave me hope. Today, I watched your Cover of I shot the Sheriff. Bob Marley stood for Peace, Love and Humanity. You are the Bob Marley of our time. The continuation of his message. The essence of his being. You are a prophet my brother. About 5 years ago, I lost my dad due to cancer. My dad was my favorite person in the whole world, and he simply wasn't there anymore. Then, about 2 months ago, when I was sure I got over that pain, I lost my mom due to freaky accident. The pain and the hurt of being alone I don't wish on anybody.
But, then I remembered I found your music about 2 weeks before my mom died, and I think there is a reason for that. Thank you Ren for your music and for giving me the strenght to keep on breathing in this world that is sudenly just too big and empty. And, when I have bad days, your music keep on saving my life every day. ❤

Thank you for sharing this here. Reading it yesterday made me decide to visit my dad today. My mum died 4 years ago when I was 14 and it absolutely wracked my dad to the point where he couldn't care for me anymore and so I had to move to by grandparents. I love my dad and the idea of him being alone and in pain is so terrible I can't even find words to describe it, but at the same time the fear of loosing him or contributing to his pain just by being there keeps me from visiting as often as I actually want to...it's a very strange and fine line to wander. About a year ago when things where really bad I even almost convinced myself that he was already gone just so that this weird...responsibility could be lifted from my shoulders.
But I can still talk to him. I can still hold his hand. I can still assure him that I love him. I am rich in these possibilities and 29 days of the month I decide not to honour them...I can't promise I won't retreat anymore but your comment just had this impact on me that I visited him outside our usual date and it was a good visit. I think I'm growing strong enough to do more.

I've only just discovered you a couple of months ago. From the first time I sobbed along with "Hi Ren", I was hooked! There are a few pieces I haven't heard yet, but I'm getting there. You, Sir, inspire the hell out of me!! I'm a 55-year-old woman who struggles with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. You've allowed my brain to find new ways to cope with it all.
Watching the reaction videos has been amazing as well since it reminds me of the first feelings I felt when watching each video for the first time. Thank you, Ren. Thank you for your RAW and brutal honesty. Thank you for your talent and the skills you've honed. I only recently accidentally discovered you Ren, when on CZcams I randomly saw "Hi Ren" & was immediately blown away!! As a 58 year old man who has all my life been incredibly embraced by music, but really never one to listen to lyrics (Sad I know but to me it has always been the rhythm/melody that have grabbed me first) I found your lyrics, portrayal & music in that video to be completely unique & like Velcro or a spiders web, I was immediately hooked! I had to hear more!! I have since listened to & watched as many of your songs as I can find. Almost EVERY single song is as hard, intelligent, of our time, real, touching....I could go on, but It's hard to find the same words that you seem to find so easily, in order to describe your talent! I am truly astounded by the depth of feeling, empathy & wisdom of your lyrics! There are a lot of musicians out there who have songs that can be considered their "usual stuff". One of the things I love about Ren is he has nothing in the neighborhood of "usual stuff". Yes Ren, What an amazing human being you are, stay strong and keep on keeping on. I lived in Brighton and Hove in the 90's, DJ'd on the seafront near where your Hunger video was shot. Its great seeing you walk around the streets doing your thang. All the US reactors love each setting of your videos and obviously the extraordinary musical talent and lyrics you spit, sing and display. You are a breath of fresh air in a claustrophobic world. We all have that persistent negative self talk to some extent. That’s why we can relate to this so strongly. I’m still pushing back against my mother’s voice and I’m in my 60s!

Keep breathing, keep living, the clouds will pass- or you may realize that sunny days are over rated anyway, and a slight overcast can actually help you see better. My 20's seemed rather hopeless, while everyone around me was having the time of their life, I was in an apathetic fog, as the years rolled on, I slowly lived through this, and now I am blessed with an insightful philosophy that allows me to appreciate life as I never could have imagined.
It may not seem "normal" to feel down, but with rest and introspection comes wisdom. I hope and wish the best in your struggle. Keep it together, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You are NOT alone, you can make it, others have, you will, keep breathing, keep living.

I'm a recently returned member to AA and hopefully I stay there, not just for myself, but also to help guide others who are living with this battle within. I have finally come off the waiting list for an appointment with a psychologist. I had my first appointment last week. I liked her, she was very supportive. I'm also lucky to have found a supportive Doctor at last! Today I am in recovery and I do feel blessed. You Ren are a big part of my inspiration to keep going and get well and back on track again. First, I would love to thank you for spreading such a beautiful message, you are a true humanitarian Ren and have such a wonderful heart and soul. I was introduced to your platform and style via CZcams on a whim. You’re a true performer with a magnanimity of talent; a true chameleon so to speak. I’ve had this long journey with my sick mother, 27 yrs of battles with cancer and mental deficits. Went into healthcare to better educate myself to help others and her along with my sister, who now works beside me. Your message of the constant battle between dark/light resonates deep with those going through grievances and hardships. It took years to get to accepting that control doesn’t exist. Flowing with what is and being translucent makes the process easier. I guess what I’m saying is this: sometimes you have to lose to gain. It sucks when going through it but when you come out stronger at the end of each day, that’s the dam reward. I love finding people who are unique and you definitely have brought me on to your musicality. I love how diverse you are and hope that your message is received in the same light it came to me; with love. Cheers to your success and please don’t ever lose hope . I know this video is old, but I’ve only discovered you very recently. This past week…your music has kept me alive. And I mean that very literally. I’ve been on a never ending journey with my mental illness my entire life and recently after losing the job of my dreams and many other other things that have happened I’ve fallen into a deeper hole than the one I usually live in. It’s dark here…darker than I’m accustomed to. And just when I was ready to accept that darkness I happened across Chalk Outlines while listening to Chinchilla.
From there I found Hi Ren and I can honestly say I was floored, I did not expect to click on a video and see a live action remake of my own mind plays out daily. This is the first time I have EVER found someone who I immediately stopped and thought “holy shit, he’s like me. He IS me.”
There’s a lot more I’d love to bore you with the details but I truly just want you to know…even now, just this week..your art has saved someone. When all I could see was darkness, you handed me a flashlight. It’s still dark of course, but it’s much easier to find a way out if you have a little light to guide you. 🖤
I´m a 58 year old man from Belgium with a lovely wife and great sons, but unfortunately I went through the deepest dark for two-three years due to a number of reasons. But since april last year I feel good again (what a feeling! - since I didn´t expect it any more) thanks to therapy, that I didn´t want /avoided way to long. But the real lifesavers/lifechangers in that period were... artists/video´s on You Tube. If Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) didn´t sing 'Hold on/Hang on' in Everybody Hurts, I doubt if I would still be here. If Nightbirde didn´t sing ´It´s okay´ on AGT and didn´t say ´You can´t wait until life isn´t hard anymore before you decide to be happy', maybe I´d still be depressed. Just to say: I saw THIS video (and 'Hi Ren' and the reactions on YT to it) and I know FOR SURE this changes the life/thoughts of many people, this indeed saves lives. Ren = hope. Because he´s real. Because he´s been there. Because he´s a (beautiful) human being...

I am 49 and have Very Severe ME/CFS and newly diagnosed autism. Six months ago I slipped into psychosis and no one knew. Everyone thought I was depressed from being in a tiny dark room with noise-canceling headphones. My 24 hours at the ER traumatized me so badly, that I know I can't seek medical care now.
I'm losing weight fast, having trouble chewing, and I have the cognition of a cucmber.
And I have about as much hope as a cat's whiskers, but part of me still wants to fight. Thank you your words. I am intimate with the darkness. Now it's time to go find how to wield the light.
