This may be answered later in the tutorials but I do wonder... why do you *want* to flatten everything out (where you think the player may aim to land)? wouldn't that make it fairly easy? I would have thought you'd want some slopes and hills for them to navigate. Like if they wanna aim here, better watch out for some slopes kinda thing.
you flatten first, then you add in the slopes. i do this because when you place a fairway on an area of ground that hasnt been first flattened, it causes the edges to act really odd by causing sharp drop offs. honestly i might make a video about this question.
