- For this video I am going to be taking you around my latest 4K Blu-ray Collector's Edition of Jaws 2 and I will also be sharing my thoughts on the 4K transfer.

Jaws 2 does have one of the best death scenes that was effectively shot. The Eddie & Tina sequence was rather believable. There was a Great White Shark death very similar to this in the early 1980s off the North coast of Australia. Eddie gets launched by the shark with significant thrust and force. The sound effect of hearing him smacking into the side of the boat is pretty nasty. One of the redeeming features for me is John Williams effective second score. Williams vertually re-builds the score from the bottom up, creating new cues and different themes with the familiar. This score was one of the selling points of the film, seeing that John Williams came back after a favour was carried out for the producer of the film. I'm not struck with the steelbook for this release. The original quad artwork has always been the draw for me, plus Universal being crafty gits by using the box set image again from the early 00 DVD release of Jaws 2. Jaws certainly has paid dividends for Universal's [UK] marketing dept. 😀 Cheers....
I actually forgot to mention John Williams score in this movie and as you mentioned it's probably the saving grace of the sequel. It would have been so easy for him to recreate what he done with the Spielberg movie but that's not John Williams and that's the reason why he's The Greatest composer who ever lived. I'm starting to think that maybe this movie got me on the wrong night and I might have to check it out again. You're absolutely correct it would have been nice to get the original artwork on the Steelbook but unfortunately it's so rarely happens today. I wish they at least put it on the outer box and give us the Steelbook that we got which I think is actually beautiful. But that's just my opinion. @millerman9991 I'm not a great fan of 1978s Jaws 2. I have the film on standard Blu-Ray. I think the direction is somewhat choppy by Jeannot Szwarc's. It's highly difficult when Spielberg delivers shots in the first film that feel almost like a European director had directed Jaws. I do think Spielberg emulated semi-European style in his early works, Keith. Spielberg was a big admirer of the French director François Truffaut, who starred in Close Encounters. Even when I watch Sugarland Express, Spielberg gives the film a semi- documentary style and uses shots similar to what François Truffaut would do. Obviously, Spielberg has his own signature mixed in. Jaws 2 is a mixed bag film, and it always has been. But there are a few moments that do stand out, but it's still an average movie. Cheers.

Great video as always! I also picked this up from Amazon Italy and just like yourself was confused with the “limited” numbers!! Missed out on this (Warner Bros shop uk cancelled it) and Jaws The Vault set in the uk so ordered both from Italy. I’ve been buying internationally a lot more now as you can often find more choice and better prices. You always offer great honest advice and are one of the reasons I look further afield.
That's the one great thing when it comes to Amazon Italy if you can't find it anywhere else chances are you will find it there. It is a bit strange when it comes to the numbers but let's face it in the end all we wanted was the release itself. Just like the deluxe edition that's coming out for the Exorcist this year I guarantee you give it a bit of time it will appear on Amazon Italy

Waiting for my UK copy now. Can’t wait to get it in. From the get go, I never made the mistake of comparing this one to the absolute masterpiece that the original Jaws is. That was one of those movies where they just “caught lightning in a bottle”. I’m such a huge fan of it that I was just happy to be brought back into the same universe, even if it is a little watered down like u said. I know I said I was underwhelmed by the movie but taking nothing away from it it is still a fun sequel and it's easily my favorite sequel in the jaws franchise. I just remember enjoying it a lot more back in the day. Maybe it got me on the wrong night and I will revisit it again very soon and see how it stacks up on the day. Hi Keith, I have the UK edition, I preordered it when it was first announced as I love Jaws 2!! It was the first Jaws film I ever watched when I was young and it was the one I used to watch more than the original. It's only as i got older that I appreciated how much of a great film the original was!!

Hey Keith, jaws is my absolute favorite movie of all time. my dad actually took me to see that in 1975. I was 9 years old scared the living shit right out of me. We were lucky we had a built-in pool. Been swimming in that since I was five when you’re in the deep end pretty much all you do is tread water just like Christy in the opening scene. I asked my dad some years later why he took me to see that he said I thought you could handle it. Pretty much scarred for life but I guess in a good way.
So, of course when jaws 2 came out me and my friends went and saw it and I thought it was awesome.later on I totally agree with you I thought it was so cheap compared to the original. Watching the 4K now it’s almost unbelievable how bad the shark looks. I mean it should be every bit as good, if not better than the one in the original had the shark looked proper I think the movie would’ve been much much better by far.
I was able to pick up the steel book and I think it looks great. The transfer is good like you said you can’t compare to the original. My fault with it is the opening night scene. Is annoyingly dim but everything else is pretty darn good I’m happy with it. I’m glad I got it and this is by far much better than either of the other sequels. I’ve never actually seen jaws 3 it just looks so bad I couldn’t bring myself to see it but funny enough when the fourth one came out, I thought that they would have to redeem themselves for the third one but alas, that was horrible as well. Anyways, have a great one as always talk to you later.
I Can't Help But relate to this comment because my father showed me this movie when I was younger as well and he said the exact same thing. He thought I could handle it. He was so wrong.
I remember seeing Jaws two back in the day and I remember enjoying it a hell of a lot more than I did when I watched it's a couple of nights ago but taking nothing away from the movie I still find it to be a good sequel and it's easily the best sequel in the franchise. I don't know maybe it got me on the wrong night. I thought the transfer look great and I honestly don't know why people were complaining about it. We are talking about Jaws two after all. I got the ordainary bluray from eBay for £7 last week and watched it last night, I didn't see anything wrong with the picture or sound , I enjoyed it I haven't seen it in ages .I saw a couple of reviews on CZcams that said the ordainary bluray said it wasn't a great picture or sound, but I'm more than happy with it.
To be honest Laura I had no issues with the Blu-ray myself. The 4K transfer does look so much better but take nothing away from the Blu-ray. I think sometimes people can go a little bit overboard especially when you do get a great looking 4K transfer like this one. The first Response always seems to be to s*** all over the Blu-ray release. If you're happy with it that's the most important thing

Hey Keith I think that steelbook alone would have been worth the asking price, its definitely the star of the show. I felt bad you didn't get a better lenticular, it could have been great. I also never like to hear poor sound transfers, I'll have to see how it sounds on my system after sound mapping.
The lenticular cover is a minor nitpick to what is a very nice release. As you said Steve the Steelbook is the star of The Show and the movie itself looks fantastic. It's such a shame about the audio. Thanks for checking it out
I'll probably buy the standard release of this at some point, Speaking of worldwide limited editions the Exorcist sold out before I saw it.

Ordered it the day after this vid was posted, and it arrived today. I missed the UK release. Pre-ordered in the US really early, but Amazon US apparently filled domestic orders first. So now I got it for less than half of the US price. Thanks !!!

Yeah I was very disappointed with the audio particularly when you consider how well the movie looks on 4k. It's the one downside to a fantastic release
Fantastic release, Its a disgrace when they advertise a release as limited but you can still get the same one in another Country. Sure you have done other video's were you have picked up other steelbooks like that. I will be picking this 4K up but as i wasn't expecting it to be as good as the first, i was waiting for a price drop, might change my mind on that. Great review as always Mate.
It's not the first time it's happened. As a matter of fact it's happened numerous times and I'm sort of used to it by now. The most important thing is to get the release itself and thankfully the 4K picture does look quite amazing. The movie is nothing near as good as the original but it was never going to be and I definitely recommend checking it out for yourself and see what you think. Hi, Keith. I agree with everything you said about this film. I was lucky to preorder the UK version before it sold out, but can't compare it to the original Jaws yet (I have pre-ordered the 4k film vault version & can't wait to see the quality). I have fond memories of my Parents taking my brother and myself to see this at the cinema as a kid as it was one of the first films I saw at the cinema after Star Wars. Now looking forward to Hell raiser Quartet of Torment boxset in 4k when that arrives soon. Can't wait to see what the transfer is like on the original.

I think you are going to be absolutely blown away when you see Jaws on 4k. It's definitely up there as one of the best 4K transfers you can see for a movie of this age. I have also pre-ordered the hellraiser collection myself and even though I'm very excited to see what they looked like on 4k I didn't think the set looked near as good as the Scarlet box set they brought out all those years ago.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get the Scarlet box, that's why I jumped on it like a fly to poo as soon as it was announced.
I wouldn't blame you because the Scarlet edition sold out so quickly

Great review, Keith liked your overall polished criticism/praise of this disc/ collector's Ed....l ain't purchased much 4k discs of late,but with The Exorcist 4k coming out soon I am hoping l can grab myself a collector's Edition been searching on Amazon US for and it's seemingly being released in the US this Friday but can't find a Anniversary Edition????
Hey James. The Exorcist is a huge release for myself and thankfully I was able to pre-order the deluxe edition before it sold out. I have been told by so many people they're going on eBay for over 200 euro. It absolutely sickens me and I hope they don't get what they're asking for. It's always the fans that lose out

Also got it from Italy too. Ii like it that they don't translated the booklet. And that they put the little white translated Italian mini booklet in it. Great way to keep the extras original. Did you get that one also?
Have the same feeling about the movie. Especially the kids were quite annoying. And about the shark.. Absolutely true... It felt like they were attacked by a rubber monster with the quick edits.
Hey Robert. I have to give Amazon Italy credit because they do that quite a bit with their releases. I remember buying a collection of movies from a company called midnight classics who were an Italian company and inside each release was a media book and half the book would be in English and the other half in Italian. I think it's great that they go through all that effort.
Great vid Keith. I may pick up this one down the line as its a good sequel. But the original casts a long shadow over it.

Hey David. Whenever myself and my partner come into this room to watch a couple of movies I always have to have it planned out on what I want to watch. There's nothing worse than getting through one movie and then trying to find another right after it. It takes far to Long especially in a room like this

I just went on to Amazon Italy myself to have a look and I find it strange that there is no evidence of it being there. Normally you would see it and it would be down as sold out but I can't seem to find it at all. Keep an eye out because it might appear back on

JAWS, you know someone is likely going to be eaten, great actors, it's bloody big, and you're on the edge of your seat in the hunt!

There was no following up Jaws. Probably one of the greatest movies in the world and the sequel was always going to be somewhat of a disappointment even though it's definitely one of the better sequels I've seen out there.
I would say the first 3 films were good..as for the last one...awful!...I remember seeing this at the cinema back in the day!..if you want a good laugh keith watch cruel jaws which they tried to pass off as jaws 5

@@millerman9991 it's because Paramount have got the rights back to Curse Of Michael Myers H20 and Resurrection so are gunna release their own 4K versions guess this means the Scream Factory boxset of those films will go oop soon
Personally like Jaws 3 over 2 and thats not saying much. Jaws 4 might be one of the worst films ever made, though. lol

@@millerman9991 3 wasnt that bad- not great mind you. It was in super 3D and starred Dennis Quaid. A little biased cause I saw it in the theatre. 4 is atrocious from story to effects culminating in impaling the shark with a broken ship mast as it jumped out of the water. lol. Micheal Caine who starred commented, "I have never seen it (Jaws 4) but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built and it is terrific."
It's a shame you felt under whelmed by this movie Keith, I absolutely love this sequel, I think I told you I watched this the other week. I do agree with you, it did miss Richard Dreyfuss but he didn't want to do it. For me it's one of the better sequels. Keith Gordon was good in this, he reminded me of Elvis Presley for some reason. "Now I know what a shark looks like because I've seen one up close so you'd better do something about this one because I don't intend to go through that hell again," Great scene in the movie. I like this set Keith, I think it will sit very nice in your collection.

Just bought the walking dead series on Blu-ray the legacy collection I mean yes it came with a lovely book 124 pages and the book does have its own slipcover on the outside, but the only thing I was disappointed about Keith the discs were all stacked together I’m not sure about you, but I don’t like that not a fan at all, but unfortunately my friend is the only way of getting the whole series 1 to 11 of the walking dead on Blu-ray, Keith
