- My classmates and teachers from Copenhagen Technical School went to Rostock in (at that time) East-Germany to visit a few companies and experience the 1. May celebration. I filmed on my old Eumig camera. It resulted in this retrospect back in time - (without sound!)
I was born in Rostock in 1963. This is a very interesting trip in the past ;)
Wow this is great footage! I'm surprised you could get it I thought I heard East German authorities didn't allow footage or photos to be taken of their cars and other things. I might be wrong but I thought I heard that.

Thank you very much for this video that I immediately downloaded. I was born in Rostock and lived there until 1997. In some sequences you have filmed the tribune of the demonstration due to 1st of May. It was located on the Thälmann-Platz. It was normal procedure to have a chorus on the tribune, calling political slogans. In this year I was a member of the chorus. We did a good job and received official recognition with one additional holiday. You are right, atmosphere during the demonstration was always relaxed.
yes I was there also - we had great time that time - I was arrestet in Rostock filming but released after 2 hours ..

Thanks! I didn't have any problems. As I remember we did not have any contact with the authorities what so ever. But of course: it was the 1.st of May and there was a kind of relaxed celebration atmosphere (!)

OcramRDG, The original material is old worn 8mm film, which is made digital by a Danish lab. called Video Pro. I have a copy in DVD that is only slightly better than what you see on CZcams. I can send you a copy if you like. vincenhenri

Wenn diese Filme ein paar Jahre liegen ohne gekühlt zu werden, lässt die Qualität erheblich nach. Da kann man wenig machen . Habe ich auch bei meinen eigenen Super 8 Filmen gesehen.
