      Oh that's a nice idea! There are so many shiny glittery fabrics for that holiday shimmer. This might make a nice short jacket over a dress, too.

    I have been looking for exactly this pattern for a blouse for a year. About 1.5 years ago I found a great piece of linen material in a second hand shop and I wanted to make something nice out of it. And so he waited. Until he lived to see this pattern! thank you!

    Loved the style of the top! looks amazing on you! Idk if this can help anyone but when i make puffy sleeves i usually only sew the shoulder of the top piece together so i have an open arm hole, then i sew around the curved edge of the sleeve and before gathering it i pin the edges of the sleeves to the open arm hole so the i know exactly how much i have to gather, and it works perfectly, and then once you sewed the sleeve to the arm hole you close the side of the top and of the sleeves together and you have a straight line across. I hope i explained it well hahaha xx

    So so good! I just got a big flowy thrift store skirt or strapless dress that I've been waiting for the right project for, and I think this is it! It's quite a bit of fabric and a beautiful cotton linen larger print gingham in natural and white. Can't wait to finish the dress I'm working on and make this!

    I have a sweater I rarely wear, a cotton cardigan, because it is too boxy. I bet I can trim off the bottom, take in the sides, and use the trimmed piece to make a peplum ruffle. I cropped a similar cardigan and wear it more because I updated the style of it.

    Finally got my own sewing machine at 19 years old! I have been sewing quilts and small projects with my grandma since I was 4 but never on my own! I am making my own wardrobe for 2022 and recycling/reusing all of my old clothes I do not wear anymore to reduce my carbon footprint!!! I was wondering where you get your gingham fabric??

    Just so you know, your videos are very quiet. I have to have them at full volume, and then I usually get blasted by ads. I don't know if this is something you can work on in your editing. Doesn't deter me from watching all your vids thought--love every informative moment of them! Thank you for the tutorials

    • @TheEssentialsClub
      @TheEssentialsClub  Před 2 lety +3

      Thanks for this feedback! I always boost the volume to max when editing but maybe I need to change the settings on my camera as I do find the original footage yo be quite low.

    I have one question: when you finish the seams with a zigzag stitch, what are the stitch settings on your machine? (width, lenght)

    • @TheEssentialsClub
      @TheEssentialsClub  Před 2 lety

      Thanks so much!! I set my zig zag stitch to the widest setting and then closest distance stitch. So therefore it covers a nice amount of width and is tight together.
      I hope that makes sense.

    How do you figure out how to draft your garments?

    • @TheEssentialsClub
      @TheEssentialsClub  Před 2 lety +3

      I sketch out the final garment I have in mind then figure out the varying panels I’ll need to construct it. From there I see if anything in my wardrobe is a similar silhouette that I can base some measurements off then just calculate the rest of the panels from there as I got.
      Eg. In this vid I use the existing top to determine the bodice section then measure the frill and sleeves according to the panels I already cut out. Hope that helps ☺️
