Puff gives off the impression that he's a great psychiatrist. Even though he's not afraid to tell it how it is and acknowledges the negative parts of the world, he's still relatively optimistic and encouraging. Also, he even has a human side that shows during his depression of the sorry state of his land. Overall, he's a great character!

Destiny Sings showed this show to my 5 yr old! He loved it and wanted a Puff Stuffed animal, closest this I could find is Elliot from Pete’s Dragon @ Disney store. He loves that dragon 😢
I'm a 38yr old male. When I was 4yrs old this aired on our local tv station. I always enjoyed it with my brothers. I always loved the song. Puff just made me happy. Now that I'm older I still enjoy it but it brings up so much emotion. Still helps me put things in perspective in dealing with anciety. Just wanna say I think of Puff as Jesus always there with us when we face obstacles in our lives. Having faith helps us to see things clearly and makes us better equipped to deal with the anxiety. To all those suffering with anxiety like myself I love you all and wish you all could feel my telepathic hug.
Remember watching this as a young boy haha, this was an awesome nostalgia trip. Its a lot deeper then i remember but this film will always be in my heart. Always makes me smile seeing that green dragon.
Man, I thought I'd never find this video again. Watched it countless times during the 90s as a child, and it's always been in my memory as a comfort piece. Hearing all these lessons and words of wisdom again from a magical green dragon and little Jackie Paper sure hits hard.
I was 32 when this came out. I grow up with the song. Kids care less if the sound is off or the writing is not perfect. Too many kids have grown up entirely too fast. Look at this with a youngster by your side and see through their eyes. Cut the umbilical cord to your phones and electronics and go out and play football with family till the bird graces the table and then be thankful you have family no matter how big or small. Love each other and thank our Lord too. Love: If you have someone hold them tight. If you have kids, take time to tossle their hair and sneak in hugs.
Nice, I was 4 or 5 :) My mother took me to see this. I am pretty sure I "got something" from this....it may explain why I have been to many foreign lands and met many people :)
my dad showed me this as a kid. he is an alcoholic and narcissist who abused me my entire childhood. i remember the good parts of my dad and this cartoon brings it all back to me. my dad is creative and intelligent and funny. it hurts to remember the good pieces of my dad while knowing how much pain he’s caused me. i am now no contact with him and although i know it’s for the better it still hurts remembering how much of a wonderful dad he could be. i used to look up to him like god. now i find myself wishing for him to be different. it hurts. watching this hurts. i miss who i thought was my dad all those years ago.
I'm in my mid-20's and I still get emotional when Puff had to leave Jackie. At this rate, I'll be an old fart still getting emotional when Puff has to leave Jackie. Lol!
This taught me to imagine anything and started a life long love of dragons. When I am at my worst I sing the song and it always makes me feel better. Now I can share it with my kids. this is so awesome.
I remember when this was new and broadcast on TV. I was sorta obsessed with it, but it completely disappeared and I've never seen it since, until today.
What I loved about these movies is the simple yet important messages they have when it comes to growing up. This one is about confronting your fears and self-confidence. Many fairytales have been used to teach life lessons. This one just made an extra effort. 👍👍
Does this take me back to when I was young, I am pushing 60 and still enjoy watching this one. Kids today would not even take a look at this. First time I saw Puff I was I guess I was 10 years old, that is going back almost 50 years.
I was born in 1971 and am 52 now. I remember seeing this cartoon when it was brand new on TV. The chicken soup part and the closing music stayed on my mind more than anything else. All else put aside, Puff the Magic Dragon was wonderful, when I first saw it, and it still retains its wonder today. You can say it’s ‘chicken soup’ to cure and renew the senses! Some good things do stay the same, because those sames are the best sames. Thank you.
I grew up watching this in the early 90s haven't watched it in over 20 years and decided to search for it on CZcams to start my 32nd birthday and show it to my partner. I could still sing along to it even after all these years
When I was a kid, I was terrified of this movie solely because of the layout design for Hona Lee after it was ruined by the Sneezes. However, as I grew older, it started having a special place in my heart and manages to bring a tear to my eye every now and then. Also, if there are any of you watching this who are fans of Wander Over Yonder, tell me you can't find at least some comparisons between Wander and Puff
I haven't seen this since the 95 ' granted it was made in 78 my mom and grandma had the tape and I would watch it over and over.. might explain why I dont entirely trust doctors and why I love the idea of living on an island or at least a Peninsula.. best kid cartoon EVER so glad it's on CZcams now my 8 and 3 yr old can enjoy it as well as myself... thanks for adding Signed one happy mom

I remember first watching this cartoon on my childhood playmate neighbor's Sony Betamax player when i was around 9 years old (1988) and this is one of those cartoons that had hit me a lot in an emotional sense, that i nearly tear up, especially on the final part of the scene when Puff has started to part ways with Jackie Draper and 34 years later after first seeing this cartoon just as i thought that me being a 43 year old fully grown adult man has absolutely thought that i have fully outgrown childhood stuff like this then i turned up to be terribly wrong, upon stumbling here on CZcams watching this cartoon again since 1988, the cartoon still hits me emotionally and the thing is that i had discerned and ponder the significant theme conveyed by this cartoon as an adult more than ever, the same childhood experience and impact that i had felt upon stumbling and seeing cartoon and fantasy stuff like "The Last Unicorn", "The Land Before Time"(especially the part when Littlefoot's mother has been killed by the T-Rex villain Sharptooth dramatically turning Littlefoot into an orphan), "Neverending Story", "Kimba the White Lion" anime and "The Iron Giant" (although that movie came out and had watched it during my late teenage / adolescent year), it has somewhat shows that no matter how refined and matured we are as we age there will always be a portion (even a small or minimal portion) of our innocent, joyful, loving and optimistic childhood that will remain intact, things that even than when we progress and grow / mature by age parts of our childhood will remain in tact in our hearts and memories like a precious treasure trove, cartoons like this are the ones that constantly reminding us of such.

Destiny Sings showed this show to my 5 yr old! He loved it and wanted a Puff Stuffed animal, closest this I could find is Elliot from Pete’s Dragon @ Disney store. He loves that dragon 😢
I watched it in 1978 when I was 8. Cried. Cried. Cried.
I’m 48 and I still love this movie and cry.
I have the song on my mp3 on repeat.
"Ill never forget you, Puff."
"Well see..."
That part made me cry
Just found this video by chance, haven't seen it in 25 years and still remembered a few quotes!
Man, I thought I'd never find this video again. Watched it countless times during the 90s as a child, and it's always been in my memory as a comfort piece. Hearing all these lessons and words of wisdom again from a magical green dragon and little Jackie Paper sure hits hard.
Same ❤
I was 32 when this came out.
I am pretty sure I "got something" from this....it may explain why I have been to many foreign lands and met many people :)
my dad showed me this as a kid. he is an alcoholic and narcissist who abused me my entire childhood. i remember the good parts of my dad and this cartoon brings it all back to me. my dad is creative and intelligent and funny. it hurts to remember the good pieces of my dad while knowing how much pain he’s caused me. i am now no contact with him and although i know it’s for the better it still hurts remembering how much of a wonderful dad he could be. i used to look up to him like god. now i find myself wishing for him to be different. it hurts. watching this hurts. i miss who i thought was my dad all those years ago.
damn 15 years later and it still gets me every time
You're not alone..
41yrs later and it got me too!,
: )
I remember it very well after 7 years even though I have a bad memory
I'm in my mid-20's and I still get emotional when Puff had to leave Jackie. At this rate, I'll be an old fart still getting emotional when Puff has to leave Jackie. Lol!
40 years later........
It's great!!
Yep
This taught me to imagine anything and started a life long love of dragons. When I am at my worst I sing the song and it always makes me feel better. Now I can share it with my kids. this is so awesome.
I remember when this was new and broadcast on TV. I was sorta obsessed with it, but it completely disappeared and I've never seen it since, until today.
What I loved about these movies is the simple yet important messages they have when it comes to growing up. This one is about confronting your fears and self-confidence. Many fairytales have been used to teach life lessons. This one just made an extra effort. 👍👍
ive seen this when i was young...i sure do miss the old days :")
me too!!!
Thank you.
I grew up listening to the song Puff the Magic Dragon... The nostalgia is too real, thank god I found Peter, Paul and Mary in concert *cries*
Cool hey guy's watch my vids their cool
I grew up watching this in the early 90s haven't watched it in over 20 years and decided to search for it on CZcams to start my 32nd birthday and show it to my partner. I could still sing along to it even after all these years
Is the Dragon voiced by Burgess Meredith? The more I listen the more I see Mr. Meredith's face
@@richardstarky1435 Have you ever seen Jim Henson’s Animal Jam?
First movie I ever remember watching as a child with my mother. Instant fave and still our fave and I'll be 36 this year and my mom 71
I cried this brought back so much memories
Same here!
I watched it this morning and brought back memories of my late dad and us watching it together when i was little. Was an emotional cartoon.
I cried thinking of my innocent childhood rather than this contractor worls
The living sneezes☺️
When I was a kid, I was terrified of this movie solely because of the layout design for Hona Lee after it was ruined by the Sneezes. However, as I grew older, it started having a special place in my heart and manages to bring a tear to my eye every now and then.
Also, if there are any of you watching this who are fans of Wander Over Yonder, tell me you can't find at least some comparisons between Wander and Puff
You're welcome! I always looked for it, but could never find it. Once I was able to, I knew I had to upload it for everyone!
My favorite childhood cartoons of all time always brings me back 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I haven't seen this since the 95 ' granted it was made in 78 my mom and grandma had the tape and I would watch it over and over.. might explain why I dont entirely trust doctors and why I love the idea of living on an island or at least a Peninsula.. best kid cartoon EVER so glad it's on CZcams now my 8 and 3 yr old can enjoy it as well as myself... thanks for adding
Signed one happy mom
90's**
This was the first VHS I owned. I was born in '86 and got the film from Burger King, lol.
We're at the same age and I watched this on VHS too. Far across the sea in Hong Kong, we share the same childhood memory~
+bellmsky 😃 hooray for memories shared!!!
Which Burger King did YOU go to?
Somewhere in Michigan 😊
this sucks
I had lung problems as a child and I would sit in front of our little television hooked up to an air pump watching this over and over again. Thankyou for distracting me and making my world so much more colorful. God bless.
Dude, i used to sit and watch this and do my nebulizer treatments when i was a kid. I remember the sound, the smoke and the taste still, and here we are 20+ years later....
I heard the song in kindergarten years before my mother found the DVD, and both have stuck with me my entire life 😊
Have you ever seen this show called Jim Henson’s Animal Jam?
This has aged so well. I probably saw this for the first time circa 1980 as a 5 year old and I still remember it. What a classic gem that I will show to my son when he's old enough.
WOW, don't know how I stumbled on this in 2022 at the age of 57 but glad I did, don't remember the show too much but the theme tune words came back to me instantly :)
This right here. I’m 52 and have always loved Puff. Now I know why
Was always one of my favorite songs 54 and I also read the shorter version to the children at school this is the first time I saw this And it’s very interesting very interesting.

Just watched this. It came out in 1978 when I was 14 years old. My parents actually bought me the vinyl record album… The 33 rpm one. It was great seeing the show again
I haven't seen this in years, at 33, its still good!!
this cartoon changed my life
Still watching in 2019.. Reminds me so much of my childhood.. Now my kids love puff
I cried s0 much watching this as a child...... Great memories
I feel a mixture of Emotions whenever I hear Puff The Magic Dragon as it makes Me wish I had Friends like Puff and Jackie Paper. Puff The Magic Dragon is an Inspiration to Me :D
I caught a Staryu in Pokemon, so it's kinda like that little star thingy. :D
My mom would play this for me whenever I was sad or sick and somehow it always made me better. Just today I was suddenly singing one of the songs to this and asked my friend if she remembered it she did and we ended up watching this and singing along to all the songs. Neither of us remember it being so short and meaningful as it was.
I wanna be a kid again...
You and me both, but I wanna be a kid growing up in the late 70's & 80s again.
Oh! Me, too, you guys! 🌈
We are, just believe in that Magic Puff!!
Me too. I'm 46 soon.
I can not even express how Fing happy this makes me to see. I use to watch this everyday as a kid. No way it was only 24 mins, seemed like an hour at least. Omg omg 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
I'm so happy to hear that. It really did seem longer when we were young, didn't it?
I k ow right. Was my favorite. I always thought it was a movie. This seems short as an older man
I also thought it was more like an hour
Because it came on tv, it probably did have an hour time slot. I remember it as an hour long movie also. I thought it only came on once a year though
@@rickindurham I never knew it from tv, we had a tape and I would literally watch it, rewind and watch again 😂🤣🤣😂 then some jackass broke in and stole our vcr while it was still inside 😒😒😒 bastards
I love this when I was a toddler I have memories of my mom making me lunch with pb&j and fruits which she would make pictures of like boats and houses. Me and my 3 siblings would watch this over and over. Thank you for posting this. Haven’t watched this fully in 8 years
Tee hee let’s go back even though we’re grown we can wear diapers and run around the table like we used to! “Puff the magic draaaaagon!” Well sing as we run around while our mothers make our food.
@@honestone4306 Have you ever seen a Jim Henson show called Jim Henson’s Animal Jam?
Anybody watching this is in 2019 ??? Last 5 mins of it always gets my heart 💔 😭😭
Yes, this brings back a lot of memories!
2022 ❤️
That intro made my heart ache with nostalgia EVEN THOUGH I NEVER SAW THIS AS A CHILD.
I used to watch this practically every day. Wow.
Same tho
Did they intend for this to be about autism? Because speaking as someone on the spectrum, this hits the nail on the head.
+rabid rabbitshuggers Seems so.
As a fellow autistic man, I couldn't agree more. ;)
Wow, spot on observation. :D
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't see how it relates to autism.
Yeah, I know right! I've never been officially diagnosed but several online tests place me there and I had a therapist tell me I showed signs of autism. I'm often completely unable to understand peoples emotions, I don't understand subtlety, and sometimes accidentally offend without even knowing how.
The last time me or any of my siblings are cousins saw this little movie was when we were kids with her grandparents back in the late '90s! That's brought back so many memories of when we used to hang out with them a lot and had nothing but happy memories! Just like many other young kids during the good old days, watching this helped me go from being very scared and shy to now very outgoing and courageous!
Haven’t seen this since I was a little kid, but it still resonates. Especially now.
Thanks for the upload.
Thank you so much for putting this on here man I remember watching this as a kid! This was great to able to watch it again!🙌🏾
Born late 80's and grew up in the 90's,, while nija turtles and power rangers were famous this was my go to, as a child, for a picker upper and believe in myself. The nostalgia is strong on this one lol
I couldn't get through ten seconds of this without crying.
This is a tale of conquering childhood anxiety...💗
this was my altime favorite thing to watch when i was little.
I could listen to Burgess Meredith’s voice all day long.
This gets me everytime 😢
I watched this for the first time and I cried my eyes out 😂

Thankyou so much for this upload. Im a kid of the 00s but my 78 born mother showed me this when i was very young. Holds an important place in my heart. Cartoons just arent the same anymore. Crazy nostalgia
Time is far stronger, then magic -PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON
+Dr Quak
That was such a powerful quote.
***** Much yes my friend.
Watching this as a kid was so magical. I’m looking back on this now and it’s the most amazing sense of nostalgia ever. I’m so glad my dad showed me this as a kid, even though it’s an old show. I’m a teenager now with so much life to go through still, but I’m so glad I have things like this to look back on and remember.
I remember watching this as a child I never thought if find it again my great granny loved to watch this with me ❤❤❤thank you for brining back beloved memories and for giving others the chance to enjoy an imagination film 😊
This whole video makes me cry. My mom used to sing the song with me when I was little and now she doesn't have any time to spend with us since she's gone back to school. I miss the time we used to spend together
It's been a year or so since you posted this, but your mom is very brave going off on her own journey. It's not an easy thing to do. I hope that whatever story you have had since you posted will have a happy ending
One of the brightest parts of my childhood. When things get dark and scary in my head, I relax myself with puff
It still holds such power. I'm glad I re-watched it again. Time to take the next step forward. Thanks Puff.
I was obsessed with this movie as a child and had bought my kids watch it and always watch it when I’m down… I’m 36 years old it was my fav movie as a child now I have a five year old boy on the spectrum and a 15 year old girl not on the spectrum
To me this reminds me exactly of autism but also it reminds me of this journey of life I’ve been on perhaps it relates to Spiritual awakening and autism I have a feeling that anyone on the spectrum has a great deal of spiritual depth And my five-year-old son I see so much amazing gifts they are not explainable I think he acted activated some sort of awakening within myself but who knows I think it also has to do with perspective very much
I was born in the early 80’s and watched as a child. When my son was little i watched this with him. He’s now about to turn 19 and he said it was one of his favorites as a kid. I’m so glad that he loves things that I enjoyed as a child myself. Hopefully he’ll watch this with his children when he has some!
Thank you! My daughter passed away, and she loved this movie. I just showed it to her boys!! They love it, too! Thank you so very much!
when i was in 1st grade our music teacher let us sing the intro to this song of the book, eventually we watched this. good times and i’m happy i still remember this :)
To watch this movie now from when I was kid is amazing.I just recently bought a bearded dragon and it reminded me of this movie and a childhood before my Mom and Dad separated. I named my dragon Puff.
As a child I watched this over something like 1000 times. I can recite it by route to this day. Im 40 now.
I had just heard the PPM song and it brought back so many memories. Watched the whole video and I was correct in the way I remembered everything. Born in ‘79. This was right up my alley growing up. Still have the paperback I bought from book fair in like 84? In my memory box. Ended up learning guitar over the years. In back of the book is sheet music to play the songs. Can say I’ve done so from time to time and it never ceases to amaze me.
Born in 86.. idk how young I was wen seen this.. but man
I still 2023 loved it.. MAKING MY KIDS WATCH IT LOL.. THANKYOU.. AN THANKYOU HOLYSPIRIT I LOVE YOU
JUS WHAT I NEEDED
I used to watch this film on repeat when I was a wee lad. Damn, only a teenager and I wish I was younger again.
Time will always be far more stronger than magic.
Nostalgia is stronger than time
3am and I find this nostalgic gem. My sister and I watched this as kids. Such a great life lesson in this show.
What a beutiful warm Color tone, this can never be achieved with The digital animation technology of today.
Childhood memories at their best. I hated how none of the other kids my age enjoyed this.
Caitlin Halpin it wasn't meant for other kids only special folk feel glad.
I always thought I was more or less the only one who saw it, but after reading through these comments, It proves that wrong and proves what you just said right.
My God the memories this brings 💚 thank you 🥰
I remember first watching this cartoon on my childhood playmate neighbor's Sony Betamax player when i was around 9 years old (1988) and this is one of those cartoons that had hit me a lot in an emotional sense, that i nearly tear up, especially on the final part of the scene when Puff has started to part ways with Jackie Draper and 34 years later after first seeing this cartoon just as i thought that me being a 43 year old fully grown adult man has absolutely thought that i have fully outgrown childhood stuff like this then i turned up to be terribly wrong, upon stumbling here on CZcams watching this cartoon again since 1988, the cartoon still hits me emotionally and the thing is that i had discerned and ponder the significant theme conveyed by this cartoon as an adult more than ever, the same childhood experience and impact that i had felt upon stumbling and seeing cartoon and fantasy stuff like "The Last Unicorn", "The Land Before Time"(especially the part when Littlefoot's mother has been killed by the T-Rex villain Sharptooth dramatically turning Littlefoot into an orphan), "Neverending Story", "Kimba the White Lion" anime and "The Iron Giant" (although that movie came out and had watched it during my late teenage / adolescent year), it has somewhat shows that no matter how refined and matured we are as we age there will always be a portion (even a small or minimal portion) of our innocent, joyful, loving and optimistic childhood that will remain intact, things that even than when we progress and grow / mature by age parts of our childhood will remain in tact in our hearts and memories like a precious treasure trove, cartoons like this are the ones that constantly reminding us of such.
Many good memories, when I was 6 we used to watch this and then Sing about it in the car on long or short rides, its funny how time flies. and the special times with my mom, Today is her birthday Happy birthday Mom
I'm just a cartoon guy that loves old cartoons and music 🎶 this is a favorite song from Peter, Paul and Mary and Burgess Meredith was perfect for this iconic role
