This video is infinitely better than the youtube bros with no mechanical experience who just talk about what options they ordered as if it's some big revelation. Very nice job sir, thank you.
Thanks for watching Eric. I can personally attest that only about 25% of the facts in this video were made up on the spot while our director was twirling his hands trying to get me to fill more time.. Maybe even less :)
This is the first video I've seen that talks about the underside treatment and also the way the suspension works. Excellent!!
Glad you liked the video!
I like the nice information regarding the redesign of the suspension and how it function
Excellent review of c8. You touched on designs and functions of the car that nobody has done! As a c8 owner I can really connect with this video! Thanks!
Thanks John! Glad you enjoyed it.
JG, I always enjoy your articles in the mag, and this one is just as good! While it took me a year to find it, I can't explain! Do know that I'm hoping to buy my own '24 C8 and want to track it, so this is great info!
I'm waiting for my C8 HTC Corvette.
I'm waiting to find out my Build Week Date.
@@robbiemccrory9697 I guess I should circle back around to this one: In late February we ended buying a '20 pretty close to what we wanted: Z51, MSRC, front lift, Elkhart Lake Blue. We originally didn't want black interior, but it's fine now. Only options it had that I wasn't wanting was carbon flash trim and carbon flash wheels, but I've got to say, it's grown on me. Good luck on your '24!
Thanks for the in depth look at the corvette, very informative
I am so glad I ordered my corvette convertible. I have seen everyone like this car but you really went into detail for a layman to understand.
Thanks
Awesome video, very informative! Learning every day something new, while waiting for Active Aero wing from Victor racing to arrive.
Really enjoyed the video! For me, it got a bit technical with the wheel camber and toe but I think I learned a little at least. Looking forward to watching more of your vids so I hope will make me even more informed as I drive my own 2021 Z51! Liked and subscibed!!
I enjoyed this video very much. Thanks. Loved the tech talk. I learned a lot. I'm still waiting for my C8. Please do more on the C8 maybe a Z51 next time.
Really hoping we get a Z51 in our regional press fleet soon. We've put in a request with GM. Fingers crossed.
Dude !! you are good, so love you talking about the C8 going that deep !!!!
Thanks Willie. This car surprised us when it showed up somewhat ahead of schedule in the press fleet, so I didn't get as much prep in as a usually like, but I think we did a nice job explaining to people what's going on under the car that the dealer wants 30% more than sticker for for some reason. Really hope that calms down soon.
Great suspension insight! Thx
Great job! I learned more from you than in my mechanical engineering classes!
Thank you! (Although maybe you should see about getting a partial refund for those classes)
Great video, can’t wait to see Underneath the C8 ZO6
Great review! I really enjoyed showing off the undercarriage. I have a C8 pre-ordered at MSRP. I am only 18 months away from delivery😁
Magnificent video for a magnificent car.
Great review!
Terrific video!
Great video, can you do a DIY on a front brake pad replacement?
FYI, the reason the wheels seem to be stopping and then going backward at 2:01 is due to where the spokes are in relation to the frames-per-second of the camera. This phenomena was also seen many decades earlier with stagecoach wheels in westerns.
Amazing detail to your analysis. Thank you. Also, you have the coolest last name ever.
It's cool until you're having to spell it to the guy at Starbucks. Thanks, though!
Good video!
Very informative!
JD great video. Near the same level as Savagegeese.
Awesome video! She is even better with Victor racing Stat wing!🥺
Wonder how the rear susp performs compared to porsches multilink
I know nothing about cars but this is one hell of a vid 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Well hopefully now you know a little bit more :)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I appreciate your knowledge and explanations. Thanks for the video.
Awesome, love the deep dive into the suspension design, looking to get the track align done for next season on my Z51. Caster change seems pretty important as well.
Also a 50mm tire width stagger and a 2 inch wheel width stagger would help. 255/35r19 on 9's and 305/30r20 on 11's, 265/35r19 on 9.5's and 315/30r20 on 11.5's, 275/35r19 on 10's and 325/30r20 on 12's.
here is an idea-- I saw some scales, why not put the C8 on the scales and show us the corner weights and measure the actual CG height ?? then you could compare the CG height of the C8 with your MR2 ???
A bake pad replacement would help with the braking characteristics greatly.
Yep, Zora would be proud the bean counters finally lost out to the engineers!
With dealers tacking on $25000+ in "market adjustments" the bean counters are probably pretty pleased as well :)
Great review of the C8. See you guys at the Rolex next year.
The hinges on the C8 HTC work just like the back seat fold flat hinges on the 1958 Chevrolet station wagon. You all can tell the kids what that was!
Great video. I'd love to see a detailed engine analysis. Get the Z06 on the rack as soon as you can get your hands on one down the road.
Rename this video: "20 minute suspension analysis of the C8 Corvette" lol
Great vid JG. I have always loved Corvettes and I am definitely a mid-engined guy. The fuel range and the lack of a manual trans kind of make me worry though. The dash bits show 130-ish miles remaining and a bit over a 1/2 tank. Can you possibly hit that if you do a follow on vid? By no means am I disrespecting this awesome car. -preach
My guess there is that when we were doing track testing the trip computer was constantly refiguring range based on since-started fuel economy. As we were hammering on it after towing it to the track, it was probably in a fairly low-mpg recent history.
@@Grassrootsmotorsports You're correct computer for gas mileage and fuel range is reflected in how the car is being driven!
Would the GT1 seats be more comfortable for daily driving than the GT2 seats, assuming they are both in a 2LT?
I'm considering the LT3 but I can't choose GT1 seats and if they are more comfortable that's more important to me.
From what I understand they are almost identical in comfort. You getting slightly more bolstering with the GT2's. I went with the GT2's because I liked the looks and wanted 2-tone seats. They are very comfy.
So you need progressove springs then?
So so sweet chevy is so good at this shit I wish it was in the budget
What are those lifts you're using in your garage. Did you have to dig pits? Please let me know, thanks and great video.
The shop this was shot in has an Eagle two-post lift. They are bolted right to the concrete slab, and the manufacturer has good info on the thickness and composition of the concrete required to support the lift. Short answer: most modern construction slabs are usually enough. Older/thinner slabs may need to have a couple squares cut out and reinforced concrete poured in place for the lift pads.
@@Grassrootsmotorsports thanks for the quick reply. Keep the videos coming.
You forgot the transmission filters
Front mounted rack..double shear ball jlint
At 4:20 you can't steal the catalytic converter
C7 still is my preferred corvette.
I don’t understand why they can’t offer a manual transmission ?
You got the true example of the corvette backwards. The C8 is the true example of the corvette. it’s finally corvette what it’s founding father always designed it to be.
No he has it right, it was front engined for nearly 70 years don’t tell me because Zora envisioned and built a few mid engined concept cars that that’s the true example of a Corvette
@@jameswillard1 that’s exactly what I’m telling you. You obviously don’t know the history of the corvette
This car is "very busy" when it comes to lines.
these things are big cars, not that the C7 or C6 were small
What's ironic to many and really just flat out funny is that cars are so overpriced, that the C8 pricing makes us think it's such a wonderful car for the money...the reality is that most every other car is just ridiculously overpriced!
Say "proper" enough times?
I'm just going to blame it on the fact that I was raised by Canadians.
@@j.g.pasterjak1782 Hehe. Awesome. Great and informative vid too.
You could easily eliminate a lot of unneeded weight from that C8 by putting the pilot on keto.
Yeah but have you tried that Popeye's chicken sandwich?
I'm not so sure it's good recalls all the time
Ya no thanks I’ll keep my 130,000 Le us Lc 500 that will last ten years and never see the shop.
No one cares grandpa
