    Its great that Daniel Thomas gives fantastic tips to help other Euph players, I look forward to trying these exercises, I was taught to play many years ago, apparently quite incorrectly, Dans help is helping to correct my errors, resulting in me becoming a much better player,

    Excellent video, Dan! Margie and I are currently traveling in Italy for 3 weeks with only our mouthpieces and have a heavy schedule when we return to the states. This really helped me progress. All the best to you.

    We are! Our journeys at home will take us to Colorado (at 9000 feet above sea level!) for both of us to play an all John Williams program with a concert band, followed by a week of a jazz big band for me.

    I love this!!!! Can you do a video on high range? Or a video on switching clefs, specifically from bass to treble and vice versa?

    • @danielthomas7629
      @danielthomas7629  Před 2 měsíci

      I'm certainly looking into a high note video! As for clef switching, my best advice is to learn the clef from the ground up rather than transpose at sight. I tried to transpose down a fifth, but it's impossible to do for quicker music. Get a hold of bass clef parts for treble clef pieces you know, or the opposite depending on what your mother clef is! All the best,

      @@danielthomas7629 I started on bass clef euphonium. I’m a bit slower when it comes to switching clefs. By the way, I love your sound!!!! I’ve also been attracted to the British style of euphonium playing. There’s just something about it. It’s so lush and gorgeous!😍😍😍 I’ve tried so hard to get that sound, but it just not that same.

    Hi Daniel, are you able to post the melody of the name of life from spirited away. I think you would play it incredibly

    Do you have any experience with involuntary shaking in face muscles? I have been playing for many years and last few years I have started to get the these involuntary shakes in my jaw and trying your exercise seems to exagurate it (Buzzing without any support)
    Before it havent been a real problem when playing but it is starting to be and this spring I really struggled because of it.

      @MrDavidoneo Hi! I would hesitate to give any advice as it sounds like you need to see a medical professional. I'd get that checked out as soon as you can to make sure there's nothing underlying that's causing it! If there doesn't appear to be a medical cause for the issue, it could be simple muscle fatigue or some other aspect of your playing that you're doing counter to what your embouchure actually needs. Without seeing you play it's very hard to suggest things! Still, make sure you get that checked out with a Doctor; there might be something underneath that's causing it which is easily treatable! All the best,

      @@danielthomas7629 Hi! Thank you I will do that. I tried this summer to have a break from playing to see if it might be something i have built up and start up again from scratch. But its still the same as when I was in "good shape" and having played for over 20years now its just nothing I have dealt with before.

      @@danielthomas7629 The slightly lighter instruments seem to be a big thing now! You prefer it to the Prestige?

    • @danielthomas7629
      @danielthomas7629  Před 2 měsíci

      @adammcg7115 The Prestiges are great, but I prefer the more compact sound. There is a new Besson euphonium developed by David Childs which has a slightly smaller bell, and I'm eager to give it a go!
