Don't get confused with the statline. Kobe's peak stats was 35ppg but his prime years is when he won MVP and 2 FMVP. Once Luka pair with a Superstar his statline will go down drastically.

Luka doesn’t do it nearly to the degree harden abused the rules. It was unwatchable to see harden play and then inevitably choke in the playoffs when he didn’t get to abuse the officiating. Harden wasn’t under appreciated his game had a LOT of gimmick to it and neither the players nor the media respect that shit

He averaged 30 against the Warriors in the playoffs. I think luka is better only because of his post game and size....this allows him to.impact the game in a completely different aspect that numbers can't identify...it slows the game and actually tires other stars out ..(ie cp3,booker,mitchell)....skill wise I think harden has him in terms if shooting ,dribbling but in terms of big time moments idk why but luka gives me that feeling that he's gonna do things that we don't think he should be able to do like a lebron in terms of willing his tram to wins ....

He hasn't had a single active all-star teammate and is also the only reason the mavs are even relevant in the first place. The rockets were up 3-2 and should have won that series...But if you watch basketball you would remember that james harden suddenly couldn't hit a 3 point shot to save his life. I think Luka Doncic may currently be one of the most overrated players in the league. Him being young shouldn’t factor into how good he is actually considered RIGHT NOW. Wade is better than Harden
Luka is great but man Harden is super legendary and has impacted the game just like Curry with the 3 ball. Not only Harden could shoot the 3, he can get in the paint often too and he’s a great passer. Nobody in history had such a unique game like Harden, he deserves more respect than he gets
And Harden's speed and balance when shooting a step back three or side step is way better and more dynamic and Harden has a better jumpshot because Luka's is clunky just like LeBron's and not to mention he shoots the same percentage at the Free Throw line as LeBron and has games where he goes 2/6 2/9 and 1/5 at the Free Throw line and Harden would never shoot 52% at the Free Throw line in a Playoff series like Luka did in his 2nd Playoff Appearance and that's what will forever make Harden better if Luka never wins a ring as a number 1 or an MVP.

It’s a shame people didn’t appreciate Harden in his prime. Harden is the pioneer of the new style where it’s 1 ball handler creating the whole offense on their own with a lot of P&Rs and a lot of players are taking his style & he doesn’t get the credit for it.
I wish Harden used the midrange more in his prime cause sometimes it got predictable & teams knew how to guard him at times just depending on the 3 and paint exclusively. But nonetheless this guy was great

Where Harden really separates himself and overtakes Luka (at least for now) is just in sheer volume. Peak harden (we’ll just say his MVP year) is taking fucking 13 3’s per game and getting to the line 11 times a night. Yeah their efficiency numbers are similar (except from the FT line; Harden is a significantly better FT shooter) but Harden did it taking 5 more 3’s per game. That’s just a crazy level of production.

Luka may not have struggled yet in the playoffs like Harden did, but teams can defend him the exact same way and I’ll bet Luka won’t see real team/playoff success until he moves away from his current style of play. Not to mention, Harden was leading teams that were serious contenders in the West and likely would have at least one finals appearance if not continually coming up against one of the greatest teams ever in the playoffs (Dynasty GSW). The Mavs have never been on that level as a team with Luca at the helm, at least not yet.

Luka is 23 and his prime is still like 3 years away and he’s already now better than Harden ever was. Last year he was averaging 35 10 and 10 in the playoffs and leading his team full of role players to the wcf. When was Harden ever delivering in the playoffs? Individual defensive ratings are not team stats. There is a loose connection because you can’t separate it completely.
Doncic is doing what he is doing on far better efficiency - which is the biggest difference. Won’t get into rebounding or anything else, where Doncic typically outperforms Harden too. Neither Harden or Doncic is a better scorer than Kobe or MJ… who is saying that?
Luka this season is arguably a better scorer than Kobe and he’s more efficient while doing so. It’s a strange comparison though because Luka is 6’7 and his duties, unlike Kobe’s, are to run the offense completely. Luka can shoot from mid range, 3, post fade, hook shot, floater, back down bigs in the paint, etc. He has a larger repertoire due to his size. If Luka could play more like a 2 guard and didn’t have to worry about facilitating he would probably average way more points. I think it’s weird to compare Kobe to Luka given their respective positions and duties while on the floor. That’s just my opinion. Can’t speak on MJ because I never watched him play.

THOUGHTS IN THE CLOUDS That’s not true. Harden is actually more efficient based on his TS% which has been 60% or more in most of his years in Houston. Luka has been below 60% TS in most of his years except this year which Luka’s TS is 62% this year.
You can’t just measure efficiency by field goal %. TS% accounts for 3s & free throws. Harden is a better 3 point shooter than Luka where Harden shot 36-37% from 3 consistently compared to Luka who has shot only at 35% and Harden attempts more free throws & makes more free throws by shooting a better % from the kind
Until Luka can face a team as great as the prime Warriors that went 73-9 then I don't think he can clear Harden bc that man gave the Warriors fits. There's a reason why everyone said whoever won the west was winning the chip bc Harden was just that damn good. Luka nearly got swept by this weak version of the Warriors, held him to below 40% shooting in game 4 and 5 and he had a +/- of -12 for the series
He doesn’t need to face a team as great as that to prove he’s better than Harden. Ultimately, Harden did not win. He did give the Warriors fits but CP3 was a huge part of that (he sealed game 5). Luka has never played with a player as great as CP3 yet

@@Notcleverenough he’s gotten to as many WCF as James Harden already LMFAO. And averages more assists. Has a deeper bag of tricks which means his numbers go UP in the playoffs while Harden’s go DOWN. He does complain but Harden is honestly the biggest foulbaiter of all time in NBA HISTORY so that is a useless point. Luka is just Harden with an elite mid range and post game. He’s very very slightly worse at 3’s than Harden that’s about it. And he’s an actual positive on the boards and not just a easy rebound merchant.

James Harden doesn’t guard anyone either and was/is a notorious cry baby. No one that actually knows ball, looks at both players and doesn’t think Luka at age 23-24 isn’t a better player than Harden was, and will continue to go on that trajectory. Hasn’t done anything? They both led teams to a WCF LOSS against GS. Luka has done it earlier, and raises his game in the playoffs more consistently. It’s indisputable and people need to hop off that weird shit.
