    Hey guys! I recently found your channel thanks to your collab with All You Can Board and I have to say I have fallen in love with your channel!!! Your content has been great and I'm excited to join the discord. You guys have reignited my love for gaming to the point where my family has bought six new games just in the past few days.
    I definitely agree that Call to Adventure is a great game. We have both the original version and the Stormlight Archive version. I have yet to read the Stormlight Archive books because of how big they are, but my sister says they are amazing so I will probably end up reading them someday. Even without reading the books, the game is gorgeous so I can only imagine what it would be like for a fan of the books to play.
    Wishing you guys all the best

    Great list and reasoning for all of them. The only one here I've played is Innovation which is sooooo good. Most of the other ones are games I've wanted to play for a while, although a couple of them admittedly weren't on my radar. I'll add these to my "to play" list. Oh and Seasons surprised me too, I tried it on BGA a while ago... if you go up against an experienced player you can get absolutely destroyed but I've still had fun with it. Love the draft aspect. - Carlo

    • @FostertheMeeple
      @FostertheMeeple  Před 2 lety

      Yea I’ve played an average amount of Seasons and I’ve been crushed on BGA. It reminds me a bit of Res insofar you need to build an engine that will produce points near endgame. I definitely prefer seasons in person, could be a good game option whenever we all run into each other!!

    • @Kajuber
      @Kajuber Před 2 lety +1

      @@FostertheMeeple I think you actually mentioned the main reasons Innovation is not popular, when you said it was “swingy” and “mean”. I’m amazed at how many people do not like any “take that” at all in their games. Doesn’t bother me and I know how competitive you guys are as well as Carlo, so know you guys just eat that up, lol. As well I don’t mind a game being a bit swingy either, I don’t have to win all the time, I just enjoy playing the game. As well the only thing that prevents me picking up Vast is the player count. Need 2 and 3 player count for me to get the best value. Anyway guys great job on the video, your production quality simply put is excellent. You’ve grown immensely over the past year well done!

Players are the greedy mega corporations that run the city and have to work together just enough to keep it all from falling into chaos, while still wheeling and dealing to out earn their secret rival. The hidden traitor mechanic comes in the form of a possible Federalist, who has struck a deal with the government to let the city go to hell, giving the government the excuse it needs to take back control from the mega-corps.

    I have tried getting vast to the table. But it is just intimidating to new players that it makes it almost impossible. Call to Adventure is one of my favorite games of all time. As a DM I use Call to Adventure to help new players create their D&D characters

    • @FostertheMeeple
      @FostertheMeeple  Před 2 lety +1

      Yea it’s a fair criticism. We all picked a player up front, and learned them ahead of time - and it helped massively. (For Crystal caverns).

    I disagree with Call to Adventure. I hated the whole good/evil choices. But Seasons is wonderful and yes, underrated! The only surprise was the size of the game once we opened the box. It was so much smaller than we expected. Looking at the pictures on BGG was misleading 😆 Thanks for the list!

      @@FostertheMeeple Obsession is our Sunday Afternoon relaxation game. My wife, daughter, and I all appreciate Jane Austen settings, though, so we're pre-disposed. Rather than give a "review," here are the kinds of things we find ourselves saying:
      * "I'm not sure if I should hire an Underbutler or just make do with another Footman for my estate."
      * "Should I build a Monument? Or save up for the Cabinet of Curiosities?"
      * "If I send the men off hunting, it will give me more income, but if I have the ladies play cards, it will be better for our family's reputation in society."
      * "When the next courtship comes along, I will have Mr. Fairchild introduced to my daughter. I WILL HAVE HIM! You can just back off!"
      * "Drat. One of those boorish Americans showed up. I'll just have a word with Mumsy and she'll invite him to leave." (We're American...!)
      I may have misremembered a couple of details, but it shows the sort of excellent fun (Fun Count +1!] that is sparked by this charming Victorian Era game.
