The bear who comes to close is starving, see how thin and mangy it is? A starving bear will try to kill anything, including bear cubs. Mother was protecting her cub from being lunch.

@nordhorny wow.. you have seen larger(Kodiak or Polars) than Bart?? omg.. though i find it hard to believe that polar bears are larger they just don't seem like it. wow..this is really interesting... it would be wonderful to see a Kodiak just as large as Bart in the wild..but also scary, often, when these big huge Kodiaks are spotted so Ive read and have seen on numerous documentaries, someone(man) ALWAYS wants to take him down as a trophy..so VERY sad.. i hate it...
