What's going on at Blackpool Victoria Hospital?

- I take a drive around Blackpool Victoria Hospital which is close to Stanley Park and Blackpool Zoo in the town. There is a lot of work going on after the old mental health ward (Parkwood) was demolished, and it appears they are building a Nightingale section on the south side.

Wow Stephen the hospital got so big since i lived in Blackpool i would get lost it's massive, i remember the Shrine and there used to be alongside the Convent where the Nuns lived ....All the houses in that area were always expensive ....Thanks for that drive round .

Hi Steve, I left Blackpool in 1981, and watch your videos with great interest, and enjoyment. I used to play tennis at the indoor court, behind Stanley Park, and would catch the bus to the hospital, and back home again afterwards. I'm sure the bus stop where I caught the bus home was on Whinney Hays Rd, when the hospital was much smaller, I just couldn't recognize where the place used to be now. Thank you very much for all you do, for those of us who can't get back to Blackpool. I, like another person on here, now live in Canada. I also love the driven videos, keep doing what your doing! Out of curiosity, I don't suppose you could drive by 550 Lytham Rd, I used to go to school there, I was told by someone that they had changed it into flats. Cheers, Ruth.

Think you would need one of those segways to get from one side of that corridor to the other side, something with a bit of speed. I remember when I did my arm in and was put in the adult ward upstairs where the posh rooms are. Nice up there. Also the hospital food tasted really good lol

Anyone watch Haunted Hospitals on TV? The Vic certainly has at least one spook. My wife used to work there as a domestic around 20 years ago and one day she looked through the glass into a side ward to see a fully dressed man at the end of the bed, looking down at the patient. When she then went into the room, though, the patient was the only one there, in bed and in his hospital gown. Obviously she mentioned it to staff and all the nurses were aware of the existence of the ''apparition''. Don't think it was a sign that the patient was going to die, just something that happened from time to time. This was in the old part of the hospital, off that long main corridor. As they say, every nurse has a ghost story!

A couple of weeks ago I ended up taking a taxi home (from the bar) and the driver told me he was a medical student and was going to Blackpool to do his internship. He asked me about Blackpool and I told him to watch your videos!

When I was a kid my dad took me to the Vic at 4am .it was closed and we had to ring the doorbell the lady taped up my broken arm and said come back in the morning when x-ray are open.how things have changed

No Paul. I can't afford to lose this one. The CSI cap is the original and best. I don't think I could replace it.

As you know bonny Street Market is still getting a contract until end of the summer etc but......... There is a market that is part of the all new development, however, can you imagine what the rates would be to rent in the new place? Not as cheap as it is here now.
