  • Yeti makes a variety of products, but it’s best known for its line of coolers that run from $200 to $1,300. Founded in 2006, the Austin, Texas company builds products that are part cult status symbol, part functional tool for those who appreciate the outdoors. Yeti enthusiasts include celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Jimmy Kimmel, and hunting enthusiast Joe Rogan, who praised the coolers on his podcast in April 2018.

      People here use them, because they are durable and because of the company's efforts at sustainability and protection of nature. Now the rest of the world just seems them as a logo, a status symbol, and buy knock offs just so that they can get the logo cheaply, not caring what the company actually stands for.

So for that I bought a yeti cooler, they do work great and for someone who works out in the sun all day its made a huge difference in cooling me down compared to drinking room temp drinks in other melted coolers. Only problem I have with the yeti is it actually will freeze drinks and makes them like slushees I dont like that do much.

Do some people not really need to keep ice for 5 days? Sure. Are some people maybe a little too obsessed with their brand? Sure. But overall, they make a durable and long-lasting product that made many outdoorsman’s lives much easier. Can't speak to their other stuff but a lot of campershell boondockers love the basic white cooler chests, they'll last you 4 days on a bag of ice really easy. Tough, solid, simple. Worth it for someone who knows why they need one. Someone with a vanlife config probably has solar and run a dometic-type cooler off DC battery, but for 1/2 the cost of the dometic you can go a long ways and stop and pick up ice every few days and be on the road a good while pretty cheap. Workmen out in the open, good solid choice as well.

    Buying our Tundra 45 was not easy, we knew it was gonna be the last cooler we ever bought, but spending that much was hard. BUT we are glad we bit the bullet...it lives in our car as "the car fridge" and add ice about every 4th day. Perfect for the type of work we do and always having cold drinks no matter where we go. Its an investment forsure.

    As an outdoorsman I realize i can get by with most regular products, no i dont need a yeti to do what i do. The reason i get them is because I know i am putting money into something of quality. It does preform better than most products. And I know this cooler is going to last a really long time. Even if I manage to break it they have replacement parts i can buy and fix it. I like serviceable product. Those igloo coolers are junk, i have broken a dozen of them. You just throw it in the landfill when it breaks. But a yeti either wont break or is repairable. I respect that and its valuable to me . Its not for everyone but its for me. And I didn’t even mention the money saving i get out of it. I run construction sites and we have coolers with water bottles at all times. We mainly use the igloo coolers but i use my yeti. The igloo ones have to be replenished with ice every single day. At $5 a bag and 2 bags per cooler thats $10 a day each cooler. But my yeti will hold ice for 4 or 5 days. That saves so much money if you are like me and always use a cooler. It doesn’t take long to pay for itself. The reason she didn’t see those results is because she put ice in a warm cooler so it takes a long time to cool off the inside of that cooler. If you always keep it cold and keep ice in it it will last a very long time. If you want the results you gotta pre chill it. But even if you dont 3 days is still impressive when the igloo wont make it through a 8 hr day.

    PC gamers love RGB and sometimes pay extra for better lighting or colorful accessories.
    Tech people love slick edges, glass and mental sometimes pay extra for a better looking phone or notebook.
    Yeti products have way better design and people are willing to pay more for the design lifestyle.
    We're living in a moment that good looking and funcional products sell more.

    After beating the crap out of two no name brand coolers I found on Amazon, I decided to grab a Yeti soft-cooler 24 can capacity. It holds up a lot better than I thought it would as I waited to feel that feeling of buyers remorse from over hyped consumer reviews. I use it for my young family with ice from my home ice maker and then with three hot thermoses and kids’ Omie lunch boxes without ice of course. I leave the Yeti in a hot or cold car while my family goes out on an extended bike ride or hike. You don’t have to keep zipping it up on hot days as the ice keeps with the top resting unzipped, which is helpful if you’re doing a lot of grilling and going in and out of the Yeti. Their drink ware also is some of the best I’ve seen on the market. I think if you’re thinking about a Yeti, it’s probably because your current gear keeps breaking down. It was expensive, but I live in a bad part of town and frequent not so busy camp grounds. Not many people around me know what the Yeti brand is, so I don’t get the hate:)

    Best cooler I bought was a canyon cooler. Major flaw with yeti coolers is they aren’t bear rated. And I know folks that have issues with the rubber latches if used for months on end for your “fridge” in a boat situation

  • @swicheroo1
    @swicheroo1 Před 3 lety

    I was an avid camper (not much any more). But for me, the big rule was to not carry something that was so nice it ran the risk of getting stolen. So I've been gun shy. I mostly carry a very incognito backpack cooler from a brand that has long been discontinued. I like it because only people trained to spot backpack coolers--like guards at tourist destinations--can spot it for what it is. So, it's pretty easy to carry in my 'contraband' and look like I'm just into skateboarding...

    Because some people will pay a ridiculous amount of money for a perceived benefit. Instead of getting a Yetti, I just bought two coolers for around $70 each. One large size cooler (like the Yetti shown), and 1 Medium size cooler. I store the medium size cooler inside the larger cooler and then add ice to both coolers. I store beverages in the ice in both coolers (and food in insultated food bags with ice packs in the innner cooler). The who setup cost me $180 using the two coolers, insulated food bags and ice packs. The ice lasts for a number of days in very warm weather (over 80 Degrees farenheit), just like the Yetti (which costs $600 to $1200).
