  • I show you how to turn the Emergency SOS (Safety & Emergency) on and off on the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G smartphone (same for Galaxy A53). With it enabled and clicking the power button (side button) 5 times consecutively will call emergency line. In the USA that would be 911! Hope this helps.

That function is disabled with the current update (June 2023)... it drives me crazy and so does the 911 service.. i selected a different number to avoid keep pocket dialing 911. There seemed to be no other option other than to use a non Samsung phone...

My phone doesn't have the option to turn of SOS.
But a solution is to turn off the ability to unlock the phone by double tapping the screen, which will help to alleviate pocket dialing

It may not be a solution for all but it certainly fixed the problem for me. No more pocket dialing.

I tried on my A 54, it doesn't allow it. I read that the new updates on this phone don't allow it.

Fun fact with the new Verizon update on the a54 there is no option to toggle it on or off there is only an option on whether you want a countdown or not

In the custom number just put phone number for some one who dont care if you accidentally call them

Same. I hit this all the time and it's infuriating. The volume buttons are next to the power/screen buttons and I accidentally hit it trying to adjust volume and I also just butt dial it sometimes.
Not being able to turn this off is absolutely infuriating.

Turned this off when I almost accidentally called the police. Months later, it enables itself again, it can't be disabled and I actually end up calling 999 by mistake while trying to turn on my phone screen when it was glitching. FML.
