That's a Ferrari 355 spider
Neighbor lady is a ultra tiny, came over to see if she could borrow sugar. Just got done training and a shower, came out in a towel. 5 mins later she was getting stuffed on the couch. Lmfao.
Fun fact: the writer of Boiler Room worked at a boiler room ran by a former Stratton Oakmont broker. It all comes full circle.
Greatest Crossover
That makes sense, I worked in a boiler room once as well and I felt this movie was a documentary lol
Did he then go on to invent Bitcoin, lol. That would the fullest full circle
*run
@@sb_dunk I did that job for a few months, than I did run. When you work places like this if you look closely you can see the holes in the facade.
Boiler Room was the best movie at steering me away from investing in individual stocks or penny stocks watching it as a teen. Seeing the man lose $50K when he had a family and it was supposed to go to his mortgage was heart wrenching.
Lmao noob statement. Buy the top, sell the bottom lol
Are you lamb or are you a wolf 😂🙃
Beta move my child, sell your house and yolo all your life saving into a moonshot, goal is always to buy high and sell low, that's the way, the only way, see you on r/WSB my fellow regarded comrade.
3:11 Ferrari
There is an alternative ending on the dvd. As Seth leaves you see a broken Harry in the parking lot, going into the offices with a gun in hand
@@libertariancapitalist I think he said DVD?
Ferrari F355. Still one of my favorite cars after all these years. I will have one some day.
I started getting these kind of calls a long time ago... at one point I said "have you seen Boiler Room?" and just like that, I never heard from them again! Mission accomplished...
I am a Research Analyst with 13 years financial services, this movie is the most realistic finance movie I have seen. I actually worked a similar job in which had a lot of similarities to this movie.
@@whannabi because it was a terrible job with terrible pay and conditions. I walked out once they moved like 7 of us in to a tiny room with no windows.
@@EatMyShortsAU😂 sure and you are niggа right?
was super confused, and thought you were talking about Boiler Room music!
I absolutely love this movie. I have seen it so many times. And the choice of soundtrack music just gave the whole thing a flavor than neither Wall Stret nor The Wolf of Wall Street had.
Richard, you are the only bagel I love more than the one I'm currently eating.
Alternativ derivation of the Piker term: English infantry men (using pikes) were known to not usually go all out with daily deaths between pikers in the english civil war being in the single digits. Only when officers or mounted troops joined the fight it would become a decisive battle.
Waving sticks at one another, trying to stay out of striking distance. Nice.
It wasnt exclusive to English Civil Wars or early modern era. Medieval battles (that also was dominated by polearms) ussualy 'only' had 10-20 percent casualties on both sides of the engagement.
The (in)famous use of greatswords were invented during the late middle ages with breaking up spear/pike formations in order to inflict more casualties in shorter amount of time. Thus achieving decisive victory in an otherwise prolionged war.
The Landskneckht under Emperor Maximilian were amongst the fiercest of these men.
Boiler Room was a great movie. I appreciate the plot wasn’t too complicated for average viewers
I always liked Boiler Room!!!!! I think it is an underrated movie! Cool review/ explanation! :D
It's better than The Wolf of Wall Street.
Good video, but Greg drives up to Seth's house in a _Ferrari_ (not a Lamborghini) and they have the movie-night at _Jim's_ house (character played by Ben Affleck), not Greg's.
Yes, I am a fan of this movie 🙂
its a running gag that he doesn't know the difference between a lambo and a ferrari, its like a Flex on all those financial advisors that do. Plain bagel to busy managing money than picking out cars lol
@@StinkPickle4000mentioning it’s a Ferrari is literally part of the dialogue between Seth and Greg a couple times. Also, to anyone who knows anything about cars they are vastly different looking.
@@Davidsworldtravels it's also a minor point in the movie that all the senior traders at the firm drive the exact same car and that Jim has a giant house that he barely lives in. If you freeze it when Seth walks into Jim's house you see three Ferraris parked out front.
Hats off to you for breaking down the movie Boiler Room in such an engaging way! 🧐
It's awesome how you dove into the plot, highlighted the parallels with other films, and emphasized the importance of humanizing the scam victims.
The finance concepts were explained in a clear and relatable manner, making it easy for viewers to follow along. Your insights shed light on the unethical practices in the brokerage industry, and it's great to see someone addressing these issues.
Keep up the fantastic work, and looking forward to more intriguing content from you!
Another great video on some of my favorite movies. It's my understanding that "Boiler Room" and "Wolf of Wall Street" overlap and were based on "Stratton Oakmont" and "Jordon Belfort." Cheers from Silicon Valley, CA!:)
I’d love to see your coverage of Rogue Trader. It’s one of my favorite stock market movies of all time, but it’s also quite old so I understand if the audience isn’t there for it.
There's an alternative ending to this movie where at the end Harry shows up at JT Marlin building carrying a gun in his backpack. Before the Police arrives he collide with Seth by accident, who is leaving the building. Seth helps him pick up his stuff not knowing who the Harry was. Harry proceeds to the building killing everyone and police arrives too late. I suggest you look it up on youtube. It gives interesting perspective about the ending.
Took a big risk today. Clicked like before watching the video. Living on the edge
I think there is a legend from the '29 crash that a shoeshine boy named Colombo (I think) worked out front of the NY Stock Exchange. Over time he had gotten to know many of the important traders. When the crash started, he asked one of his regular customers what he should do. The advice the man gave was "don't start immediately selling just because other people are. That's for pikers." That was the first time I heard "pikers" used.
The second largest freight broker in America that I worked for during Covid. Before they fired I and 700 other people would openly compare themselves to this movie. I watched it a few months ago and I should have watched it then to see the red flags.
This is and has been one of my absolute favourite movies, ranking it just behind Rounders (which made me want to get into gambling, I thankfully did nor). I wanted to become a stock broker after watching this movie when I grew up, but thankfully never went that direction because it would have been concerning lol. But I'll forever really enjoy this movie. I don't know if anyone else knows the movie Bookies or Poolhall Junkies, but those are also two other great ones that are definitely different movies but also incredibly similar.
"If this movie inspired you to become a broker ... I hope it didn't." 😂
Richard I’d have imagined you’d correctly identify a Ferrari F355 since you drive a Mazdaerati
I love this series dude. Keep er up
How about a collection of reviews or just a rundown on finance documentaries? Netflix has some very good ones like The Monster of Wall Street, Savings Capitalism, Crypto King, Dirty Money, Gamestop Saga etc
I've never been in finance at any level but what surprised me in watching this movie was the number of parallels I was able to draw between the operation portrayed and the *actual* practice of selling Kirby cleaners, something that I *did* become involved in for about 6 months back when I was 21. Only 6 months, but I learned a lot of "what not to dos" in life that I like to think has stood me well in the years since.
OMG I've never seen anything so outrageous as Kirby. They called me everyday for over a year and wouldn't stop until I flipped out on them.
Funny this was the very first DVD I ever bought and it was the first year of my career as a financial advisor. Luckily, it wasn't J.T. Marlin! 😂
Do a review of "Trading Places".
YES YES YES! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS.
Boiler Room is what a movie about brokers should be like. Wall Street and Wolf of Wall St glamorize white collar criminality.
This film was "Fast and Furious" meets "Wall Street". Do you have any insigt as to why Ben Affleck's character told everyone at the table who had already earned their Series 7 to leave?
I think its because they want brokers that they've molded rather than anyone who might show up with pre-built ethics.
People who'd already passed the exam with a more scrupulous firm might spot how illegal what they were doing was.
Fun fact i was paid to watch boiler room and wall Street for a very popular trusted electronics company when i first worked for them because they wanted us to be " serious sellers" 😅🎉 boy what a fun time it was
It's a comedy but: Trading Places? I don't see too many people talk about the investing and stock parts of that as well as the whole scam thing in the film.
There's an alternate end to this movie on the DVD version. Harry shows up to the JT Marlins office with a gun and actually comes face to face with Seth in the parking lot although he doesnt know its him. The movie ends with Harry walking into the building as the FBI shows up
I haven't watched Boiler Room yet and I might want to, so I'll save this one for later.
A relative worked in a boiler room in Cyprus, then when they joined the EU moved to Dubai. They managed to get a decent call list from the Maersk shipping web site, where managers in expat locations had their phone numbers printed, anybody with a north Western European surname was then called, big success rate as well
Thank you richard
can you make a movie analyst about the big short
nice love the movie reviews
These thumbnails getting fancy. I like them
I love my Blinkist subscription! Thank you so much for teaching me about it!
do a video on succession
You should make discussion about prop firms.
Please create a playlist for similar videos
Good video
You should do Trading Places next.
Can you do trading places next?
3:15 - rich friend drives a Ferrari F355 Slider, not a Lamborghini.
Its a running gag. Plain bagels subtle flex that he doesn't know luxury car brands, too busy managing money than picking out cars lol
Second favourite movie, Danny DeVito's Other People's Money is my favourite
I wanted to know about Trading Places with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy.
On other note, any books you recommend for me to read? Someone told me to read Morgan housel’s “psychology of money” and "broke millennial." Already read Barber series.
Great review! Would love to see reviews of “The Wizard of Lies” or “Too Big To Fail” in the future!
can you do an updated big short movie review?
It's always a good sign when the broker doesn't know the meaning of the word "piker."
That’s a Ferrari not a Lamborghini.
I've heard the expression "pyking out", which means to quit when things get hard.
Even though things end up badly for all of the brokers in this story I remember this movie being aspirational for me and my buddies in high school. Same way they aspired to be like Gordon Gecko. 😂
We thought these guys were cool. I dunno I guess the rap soundtrack kinda hooked us in.
Shows how stupid and impressionable we were even though there’s a lesson being thrown right in our faces.
4:42 - So nothing to do with the term 'Pikey' which refers to tramps and vagrants from 18th Century England. Those who wandered up and down the 'turnpike' roads of that era. Also, would later become a derogatory term for Gypsies. See the 2000 film 'Snatch' for further details.
When FBI guy says to Seth to back up his C drive onto his floppy. What he should have said was to backup his client list or company's client list on his floppy. That sentence still annoys me.
That yellow car looks Ferrarish to me, otherwise great vid man! :)
Any chance of a review of Black Monday & Mr Robot series?
YES! Vin Diesel inspired me to become a predatory broker. Nuff said.
Seriously though, my 15 year old kid has gotten tremendous value out of 'The Big Short', watching it again and again, and giving me lots of opportunity to comment on what was going on. I think, although a bit nerdy, these movies about finance are compelling because they are really stories about people, their ways of thinking, their emotions. At the end of the day, isn't that what money really is?
@@ShannonWare What broker u work for?
Also; I AGREE 100% with you!! I will tell you stories about people their thinking and emotions for your cash, you right its the same thing!! DM me lets make this happen!!
Another good one this time about shorts would be James Bond Casino Royale.
The crazy thing is that in the wake of the 2008 crash and subsequent events, the guys in the "boiler room" were...wait for it...pikers. I mean, 2008 made Enron look like honest brokers.
3:15 That’s a Ferrari
I loved this film
Please review "Margin Call"
I'm pretty sure Jordan Belfort's partner Danny Paresh? (Jonah Hills character) inspired/consulted on Boiler Room.
Never heard of this movie but it’s easy to see how it influenced later trading films. Great breakdown!
this has been going on since the dawn of man
I always thought that "chop shop" originally refers to butchery - where carcass of an animal is chopped into pieces and sold with profit...
"Because I'm Jewish with the mind of a champion" is one of my all time favorite lines from this movie.
I love this movie
I don't understand why they set up everything next door, in case they have to jump ship... wouldn't the police pretty easily be able to find them since it's right next door...? Would it normally be farther away, but for plot convenience it's just next door, or is that real that simply a different building protects them legally, and/or the cops won't find them there....? That would be really funny if the cops yelled recko! So they came running towards them, then oh sorry I meant youre under arrest
I always liked the last line Seth gives - I gotta find a job.
I would trust you with all my money!! I wish all "financial advisors" didn't know the difference between a ferrari and a lambo!
thats a F355 Ferrari not a Lambo
3:14 Ferrari 355 Spider btw
Both boiler room and the wolf of wall street were based on Jordan Belfort's operation
Please explain Rough Trader in detail Please 🙏 😢
Love the movie The Boiler Room...
next do wall street : money never sleeps
best movie
_Coffee is for closers only._
I expect al the movies Plain Bagel reviewed to be rebooted, remade or homaged with cryptobros in the not-too distant future
Hello sir, can you please review the game called: "The Invisible Hand The Family Office"? Thank you!
3:14 Ferrari F355 Spyder Giallo Modena
Not the same thing as this movie, but anyway I take my Series 6 exam Saturday!
So, basically Boiler Room evolve to Tik Tok and CZcams stocks pickers and alt coins sellers?
In... the... year ........... two thousannnnnddd!!!!!
DRIVES A LAMBORGHINI?!! A LAMBORGHINI??!!
The car is a Ferrari 355, not a lambo.
Lamborghini? Come on man! 🤦♂️
It kills me that the media calls these guys "Wall Street"
I can't believe ppl buy stock from a stranger over the phone....
OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY would be a movie to dissect
PUT THAT COFFEE DOWN
He drives a Ferrari
REEEECCCCCOOOO!!!!!!
that’s a ferrari
I'm really stupid, I still don't totally understand what's going on. That's why I'm a civil servant.
Seth! What did you say!
When are you going to cover "Fun with Dick and Jane"?
2nd Dick and Jane
