I lost my dad in 2008, and mom in 2014. I miss them both. But at the same Time, I rejoice that they are both reunited together in the Presence of Jesus.
He is talking about God our Father in Heaven. He is telling God he missed him and he is happy to be home to see him. He is telling him about the man he became in the way he lived his life as a Christian on Earth and asking him he hope he pleased him the way he lived. He wants God our Heavenly father to know how much he loved him.
I must interject. He is not talking about our Father at first. He is talking about his biological father. God already knows about his life on earth as a Christian. His father would have no way of knowing because he wasnt here to witness it and would have no way of doing so because he could not retain in any way earthly thoughts in God's Heaven.
This song just about makes me cry when I hear it. My dad passed away suddenly in December, two weeks before I got engaged. I am so sad that I won't get to have him there at my wedding, but I'm so glad that I will rejoin him in heaven when I finally make it home. God is so great, and I am sure that I will be speechless when I meet my heavenly Father in person for the first time. I am so overwhelmed by His amazing love for me.
My father went home to see Jesus this week and this song was dedicated to my daddy at the funeral. He lost his dad when he was just 5 years old in 1930 and now they are reunited in Heaven. Thank you Lord God for the gift of eternal life through your son. God feel free to rapture us at anytime! I can't wait to be Finally Home with you and my daddy.

he could have a double meaning. since he is on the road constantly he might miss his biological father and just want to make him happy to see him. and it just happens to sound praiseful to the lord too. a lot of bands do miss out on time with family and thats why a lot of tem get depressed. they just happen to have the lord on their side.

My Dad lost his battle with cancer a month ago at the age of 59. This song and "The Hurt and the Healer" sure do say it all for me.
