I prefer stadiums with natural grass.
Big colourful logos at center, and bright white yard line / numbers take away from the drill...not that this matters anymore with all the crap corps drag around these days.
Orlando was terrible is just about every way imaginable, but the audio and video of those years is superior to the years around them.
Camp Randall unfortunately has buses loading/unloading on the street directly behind the stands.

They stayed at our school and practiced my senior year when they performed in Murfreesboro. This show stuck with us all year, after hearing their opener "Heat of the Day" by Pat Metheney(sp), it was programmed into the show and it just so happened to be the 1st arrangement I ever got to write and hear live!

don't give them such a hard time because it's not the 82 or 83 Scouts. or 93 Devils. This arrangement was meant to be a little more serious and they put a hell of a lot more visuals into it. Devils & the Scouts was more or less "park & bark" . . . . a different day and time.

Damn..... these guys were GOOD, the complete package. Solid hornline, great guard, awesome visuals, very good drumline (I think, not a drum guy) and fantastic visuals. Frankly, for many corps, I think the quality of the shows has gone downhill since about 2010. Too many theatrics, too much electronics, less musicality.

I agree. There arent many WOW moments these days in drum corps. Drill is good now, dance and guards are great, wonderfully talented hornlines and drums. However the current music arrangements just dont entertain like they used to. At the end of a current DCI show ya just kind off sit there at the end of a show and say "ok, next".

I’m humbled to even be in the discussions with those Madison Hornline’s. We never compartmentalized that comparison. We worked hard to give you all something that We felt showed more sophistication and attempted to more closely resemble those cooler groovier tones that the chart brought.
We will never be Madison, or Blue Devils. We hope to have brought to you some of the best of the Crossmen. Confidence, aggression, personality, and sophistication that made you want listen to us.

Yeah, this is exactly why I stopped paying attention to drum corps years ago. Clean to the point of sanitary, no balls whatsoever. I didn't think a boring arrangement of Ellis' 'Strawberry Soup' was possible, but here it is. It's not the Crossmen's fault - that's just what DCI is now: bad music theater.

    • @Snavels

I'm actually glad I'm not the only one who just isn't feeling it with this arrangement.
The original genuinely brought me to tears the first time I listened to it, and I don't feel anything close to that feeling when listening to this version. It's very technically well done and performed, but that part they play at about 1:35 ish, Is supposed to be the payoff for around 11-12 minutes of deliberate build up, and I just dont think this arrangement "earns it".
