Story 2: This guy just took his sister's word that his GF was cheating, had no evidence and broke off a 4 year relationship based on feelings. He doesn't want to tell people about her "affair" because he knows if he is proven wrong that he will look like an AH. He knows he messed up and doesn't want to admit it.
She rejected his proposal with a terrible excuse. Doesn't matter what he thinks she rejected the proposal and that is enough for the break up alone. Her excuse and reaction speaks volumes. Dude is probably mentally destroyed and trying to rationalize what happened. You all act like dudes can't have mental break downs and it's quite honestly disgusting. @@jaycehoward2771 These are two separate issues, basically saying I will think about it to a proposal is considered a no in my book, so if he kept his story to this point it would have been more than reasonable to break off the relationship not to ignore that she definitely crushed him and broke his heart so till this point I was on his side, but jumping to conclusions and believing in somebody's words with no proof and threatening to tarnish somebody's reputation over suspicions yeah that is an AH right there

He is saying he is hurt, and that is valid, but to say it's because she cheated and not because she turned down his proposal is disingenuous at best. Wanting time to figure out your life and to think about whether the person you are dating is the right one to spend the rest of your life with before accepting a proposal is not 'girl code' for cheating. OP's sister sounds like she's a snake that wants to cause as much drama as possible... and this drama caused her brother to lose big time.
OP's ex partner dodged a huge bullet... big time. He should have listened to his brother when he said that sometimes people get cold feet when they are proposed to and to just give the girlfriend the space she needed to think things over.

Story 2; sounds like this guy is not ready for marriage. Instead of communicating with the woman he wants to marry, he talked to his siblings and then listened to one of them and made a huge decision solely based on assumptions. Communication people, he even blocked her after kicking her out removing all ways to communicate, he didn't even confirm she cheated he assumed and made up mind. I think the gf avoided a massive red flag by rejecting the proposal judge by this situation alone.
Story 2: If OP wants to separate because she turned down his proposal, that in and of itself is fine. She made her decision that she's not ready and OP could reasonably assume that she's not convinced of having a future together. However, if you're gonna play mental gymnastics in your mind to justify ending things and not actually use sound logic, then you're the asshole. He threw away a 4 year relationship because his sister got in his ear about some 'girl code' nonsense. Makes me wonder if the sister knew more than what she was willing to share with OP or if she wanted to break them up. OP though, he's an idiot. Story 3: I try not to call OOPs "doormats", but I'm so tired of "to avoid drama" they essentially let their parents and family bully them into shit that makes them uncomfortable or ruins their day. Sounds like OOP's parents have forever been toxic and her mom is a narcissist, no denials, the fact that she wanted herself to be the victim, was proof enough. OOP needs to cut them out, full stop. If this is about the second story, OP said that his ex was also working so no, she wasn't living with him on his dime, and from the sounds of things, she was actually making more money than he was. I turned down my ex proposal two times because we both were not finically ready for the next step, was he sad yes but did he understand yes did he think I cheated on him because I said no, No instead he waiting for two yrs when him and I had a career and were finically ready to ask me again and I said yes. There is “zero” reason to say that you love someone and talk getting married/kids and then say after a well thought out and planned expensive proposal “I can’t accept right now, but we’re basically engaged-so give me a few months and then we will be engaged. Story 2: So, this is what most likely happened: The guy was hurt and didn't want to go ahead with the relationship anymore. The sister, either just hated his gf or just understood what her brother wanted and gave him a reason to break up. And the guy just went with the given reason. Breaking up with her is completely justified, but he shouldn't be dishonest to himself about it.

@@southernflight5078 a few months is not enough time to settle debt( if the debt can be settled in a few months its not worth to be considered is a proposal) but enough time to clean up affair(affairs few month is too long for one affair). She is cheating and did not expect the proposal and might miss the hints because her mind is on the other guy(s).

She is busy with new job or career issue
She has financial debt
Her parents are not fully in support
Her house and job location are far
She wants to study more
