God DEFINITELY can&will keep His ppl celibate until marriage; however...i guess i just feel like, if God has ordained 2 ppl to wed, why wld it take 10,15,25yrs of dating 4them to finally join 2gether as 1 in holy matrimony? there's just too much temptation in doing it that way, & we see that sexual sin is 1 of the major problems in the church. our God will keep us, if we wanna be kept (& allow him to). we shld abstain from every appearance of evil, & not willingly place ourselves in uncompromising/tempting situations.👍🏾💯

I have listened to some of the negative comments regarding the union of Bishop Winans and his new wife. It is really sad when Christians can't celebrate the covenant of marriage. To say Bishop Winans couldn't remain celebrate for 15 years until he married this woman is an indictment against the God we serve. If Jesus can die for the sins of the world, surely he can keep people celibate. Congratulations Bishop Winans and your new wife. I pray for your happiness.

No one is being negative. Why is a legitimate question concerning a 15 year relationship considered negative? I am happy that they are married but the question is valid. Why date her that long?

She put her life on hold for this man and I have little doubt that they were having sex. Both people are adults with children and are use to being intimate. If they weren't haven't sex, they would have rushed to the altar sooner. No real need to get married if they are getting the benefits of marriage.

sorry, i just can't be under a pastor's leadership if they've been in a relationship w/someone for 15yrs, & now decided 2marry them. idk if i can believe that they've just been pure & chaste & practicing celibacy until their wedding night. it is possible, but i really dnt believe that's the case. too much temptation. just like Noel Jones finally proposing after 25yrs. these "men of God" are almost worse than the world!
It is best not to follow someone you don't trust. HOWEVER, none of us are omnipresent. So just because sooooo many aren't living Holy it doesn't mean Bishop Winans has not been. And even IF he did fall according to 1 John 2:2 we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous! Personally, I believe we all have greater things to be concerned about (look at our nation) than someone else's soul. Like I said never follow someone you don't trust. Also, never judge someone you don't know. Only God the omniscient one knows everything.

I Corinthians 7:8-9 says, To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Now I am very happy that Bishop Winans found love but I thought that they'd just met not that he was in a 15 year relationship. I find it extremely hard to believe that 1) he didn't know that she was the one after a few months to a year, 2) that for 15 years that he wasn't sexually tempted and didn't sin. It wasn't fair to her to put her life on hold or to have her go through the scrutiny of people thinking as I am thinking; that they were having sex while he was still preaching. Romans 14:16, says don't let your good be evil spoken of. He even waited longer to marry her after he announced it in church. He and Noel Jones should be ashamed.

@@alicewhashintong555 you are right that she shouldn't have stayed for 15 years as a girlfriend. I didn't hear what Noel said but I remember seeing his hesitation on "the Preachers of LA". He talked about not wanted to get married yet...One of the preachers told him that he was wrong for stringing her along but he didn't care and she defended him because she didn't want waste the years that she put in. Marvin did the same to his girlfriend. Maybe she gave him an ultimatum and he finally gave in at the thoughts of losing her. Vicki Winans said that he wasn't the image that he portrayed and was angry with him for years but ask for his forgiveness publicly for holding a grudge. You are right that she is also to blame but he is the "bishop" he is to be more accountable because of his position as leader. How can he tell the congregation to honor marriage, covenant and shun the appearance of evil when he has a girlfriend on call.

I am blown away at how hypocritical and judgment the "good ole save Christian Church Folk" are. They could have been just friend and it developed into something else down the road. The best relationship comes from people who decided not to become intimately involved because it would destroy the friendship. Just because some can't do it, don't judge the rest.
