You will only get the lantern skin if you play it at nightmare and beat it
For chapter 1 book 2 you can get lantern skins if you beat it on normal and on nightmare
I would love to see you guys play book 2 at some point, it’s quite hard but I really recommend it!!! Great video as always :)

i know i'm kinda late but i was just rewatching y'alls 'the mimic' series and i wanted to say that you guys should play 'the witch trials'! it's another game mode like 'the christmas trials' but this one is actually connected to the lore ('the christmas trials' aren't lol). 'the witch trials' is a prequel to all the 4 books and it's really fun! (you will also find out about the mother of one of the monsters from book 1)
edit: there are also 'the halloween trials' and 'nightmare circus' but those aren't also connected to the storyline, they're both just halloween events
