- Is the DJI Osmo Mobile ( OM6) Gimbal Compatible with the Android running Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra? All of the release day videos on this gimbal were using the latest iphone, so I ordered this not fully knowing what to expect for compatibility. Quit fear mongering. Do you even know why they were put on the list? It has nothing to do with spying on foreigners or anything like that. But because DJI allegedly helped the Chinese military with surveillance. Specifically against the Uighurs in Xinjiang. It was a precautionary measure. If DJI does anything else, the US doesn't approve it will be much easier to sanction or ban em completely. I'm not saying don't be cautious, I'm just saying do some actual research before making statements like that.
@Ceddy30 im not fear mongering, only saying there is reason to take caution. You say it isnt because of spying on foreigners and the next line say its for spying on their own. Its not far off to think it would expand. If DJI is caught spying on US citizens, will the average person get the memo and know to uninstall it? When it doesn't come from the play store, I dont think it can be pulled off devices automatically. There is a $25 one time fee to have a free app on the Google app store last I checked. The only reason I can think of is if their warranty upsell on new devices would count and require paying google.
@Mainely Hobbies by making a generic claim that can be misconstrued because of leaving out crucial info is fear mongering. Intentional or not. You're sketched out at a Chinese company that had a military contract with their own country/military. You act as tho the USA doesn't do the same lol. Hi, 2 days ago i had an update for dji mimo trough the samsung store and now zoom with all cameras and 4k60 video it's seems to work. Can't use the traking on 4k60. S23 ultra and dji om 5 here.

on this day of june the 19th, I want to buy the DJI OM6 but since I have a Samsung S23, I guess I will be disapointed. Since that demo video, is there any effective update to fix the issues with Android ?

I can probably test that out but today is pouring rain all day. Basically, put the S22 Ultra on the OM6, use the built in camera on the 10x lens and see how hard it is to follow a bird or something? I have pretty good luck with the 10x being stable when I hold it.

I had Djiom5 and djimimo app actually burnt the processor in s21ultra. They told me in support that app is upgrated now and should work smooth. Did you experience any more than average overheating with s22?

Uhhh I would probably go for a gopro with media mod and a mic with a handle grip and no gimbal over using the S22 ultra. I dont think there is a good gimbal option for the s22u yet.
S22 ultra video is over sharpened, the only real advantage it has over a gopro is zoom lenses

That is why the osmo 4 SE from dji is still the best one on the price range
I think the reason why it wasn't able to detect the "Peace Sign" on your first few attempts was because your sign was side ways.
But never the less your video is informative and was able to help me decide on my purchase decision with this gimbal.

Yes native app works 4k60fps you just lose the gimbals smart features
All other reviewers I watched showed that OM6 didn't support 3x on S22 Ultra, but here in your video, I see the opposite. Is that a new update? Do you have any idea about that?

Hi! I recently got this Dji Osmo Mobile 6 for my dad who has this Samsung phone. For some reason his phone doesn’t want to connect the Gimbal device. It can easily connect to mine (iphone) though. Is there a way I can fix this? It shows up as an option to connect to though… thanks :)
Phone has to be on the supported device list. Bluetooth must be on and phone has to be paired with Osmo.

The features that it lacks for Android are based in the Mimo app. Dji is more focused on ios despite Samsung having better tech. I would love manual mode in mimo for my S22 Ultra, but it is what it is. If I want to do hdr shots, ill just shoot in Samsung cameras pro mode at different EVs then stitch in Lightroom Classic.
Also the dji apps not being in play store has been around for a while.
Yeah I ran into the DJI thing on my ronin-sc years ago. Think my dji drones were the same too.
It is annoying how companies cater to the iphone when they are a global company and globally android has more marketshare. They should at minimum pick the 5 latest popular android phones and fully support those since there are several different iphones with different camera setups as well.
In china where this company is, apple only has 22% market share.
@@mainelyhobbies Apple is all marketing. The Samsung Galaxy series is the number one selling phone worldwide. Apple also doesn't have the most current tech, it's about 2-3 generations behind Samsung... but Apple lovers don't care lol.
I don't mind the app not being in Play Store, I've given my S22U permission to install 3rd party so whenever there's an Update for my DJI Mini 2, it's download and go.
My main peeve is the fact that it's targeted against Google and Samsung phones. Other Chinese wireless companies (Xiamai, Huawei, OnePlus, vivo...) they pretty much have the Native cam features so it's not just a basic gimbal while using native camera apps. Also the fact that the s22 ultra isn't listed, yet the s22 is AND the iPhone 14 Max which is like a month old.
Dji needs to cater to the market, not just Apple users. Gotta blame influencers lol
I do have to laugh that the new iPhone didnt get wifi 6e lolol. Thats going to put it years behind samsung as usual and wireless 6e routers are starting to get all over the market now. Even my $600 laptop from last year has a 6E card in it.
Actually if you look at the phone compatibility list with all the features available, the Huawei phone has more features and capabilities than Apple.
Hi, to get more angle you need to extend the pole a little bit and then you can adjust the circular section that the top of the extended section.
With my s22 ultra and Mimo I can switch lenses while zooming (and no more one lens digital zoom) and use focus with wheel. I think it's updated.
In my video it switches from 1x to 3x. Are you seeing 10x and or .6x?
I just tested and mine is upto date and still doesnt use anything but the 3x and 1x camera and doesnt go past 8x or down to .6x.

its ok now with S22 Ultra... but its little bit heavy for OM 6. and, not compatible with S22 U's power button.

4k 30fps works with the s22 ultra on the OM6. I would look at the Insta360 flow instead though for better compatibility. Look in my recent videos for a comparison.

Yeah.. better compatibility meaning more camera lens support in the app. They both limit to 4k 30fps. You can use the phones built in camera app for 4k 60fps but you lose smart gimbal features.

If you have a s22 ultra I would get the flow instead of the OM6. The flow is a better design, smaller, easier to open up. The flow also supports active track on more than just the main 1x camera. The flow also supports active track on the .6x,3x and 10x cameras. The active track on the flow is also in another league better especially if the subject is temporarily lost. Insta360 also is known to update and add new features and support where DJI pretty much releases things and only does big fixes.

I have an S22 - Very disappointing that you can't use the 0.6x wide angle video with the gimbal. To be honest.. It does say so on DJI 's website compatibility list pdf. The S20 & S21 support 0.6x, 1x & 8x but the S22 is only 1x and 8x. Why?? I won't be buying this gimbal for that specific reason. Surely the wide angle feature is going to be the most used.
Will they update the software to allow thislater on... or will it be on the next model for S22.
If your goal is active tracking on the S22 while using .6x and 3x/10x, then check out the video I just posted today because I found a similar gimbal with a no-app needed active tracking device... so you can use your s22's built in camera to use the .6x-10x lenses while having active track on. My most common use for a phone gimbal is active track so it fits my needs.
If your main goal was the zoom wheel then there isn't anything I've seen out there.
In my experience after owning 4 DJI gimbals, they don't really update compatibility much.. it seems very rare. You are more likely to get it on the next product they sell, but even... if you don't have an iPhone it isn't guaranteed.
Can you use the Ronin S or SC with the S22 ultra?
Never tried, i dont have a phone to female tripod mount to test though.

What i noticed, if you use the DJI mimo app on S22 ultra you will get alot of shutter lag....its very limited for Samsung users but a completely different thing for IPhone
I just recorded 11 minutes in 4k in the mimo app and didnt see a single stutter. Maybe that issue isnt across the board for everyone.

There is probably some standard coding chunks they use to make their app thatis provided by google and that standard code doesnt include the feature. Snapchat can flip back and forth while recording so its not a "3rd party impossible to do" feature... its probably DJI wanting to keep it simple and use premade code for ease of updating down the road.
While I know I won't be able to use all the features, would this still work ok as a dumb gimbal, cause I'm not so comfortable downloading a chinese app. I know I'm an idiot for not checking before buying, but the gimbal itself seems pretty good
Yes but be aware what a dumb gimbal means - that means even the start stop buttons on the gimbal wont work - there is no connection between gimbal and phone. Its not a huge deal considering the price for size/gimbal performance is still good.
Gotta say I am getting fed up with Google and the manufacturers not opening up the camera2 API for gimbal manufacturers, Filmic, etc.. There's absolutely no excuse for it after so many generations of Android. Seems if you want active tracking to work in more apps, you have to go for the Hohem M6.

It is sketch the way it has to be installed on Android, but I suspect it has to do with cost more than anything. You got to remember Google takes about a 30% cut for charges. And it still costs the company fees even if the app is free and they don't charge. With Apple they don't have a choice. If they want it on iOS they HAVE to go thru Apple. With Android they have an alternative that saves them money. It's just good business.

Check out the insta360 flow, and if you can swing it, the dji pocket 3 blows everything away.

The app is a real issue for me. Had an old Mavic Pro that worked well for years until there was a update in the app store. Lost all communication and was grounded. DJI just left us hanging! With help eventually got the app off the DJI site and all went well until there, again, was an update. Grounded again. No help from DJI.
Seems to be way too much feature loss to make this viable for me for my s22 Ultra.
Think I am finished with DJI! Too bad, they make nice stuff!
The only thing causing your issues is the fact the app updates aren't in the app store so you don't know when an update is available, the new version of the apps have always worked for me including the GO4 one, but it's definitely annoying when you go to fly and the app crashes and you need to go find the new version on their site.
thanks for the great video.. I wonder, has DJI solve the problem that is with the DJI OM4.. the micro circulair movement..
i discovered that problem when taking night/ astro shots with the pixel 4A5G and used the om4 as a tripod to direct the phone to a area in the sky with stars.. the pictures had moving blur.. then i checked it inside my home and zoomed to the max to a point a bit away and saw live that the camera was moving around in tiny circles. It does that in the mimo app but also in the google camera it self.. you can try it easy.. put the DJI on the table and just zoom in to the max and watch the image on ur screen.. if it is motionless its solved, but when i do this with the om4 the phone is moving in little circles. so it must be a hardware problem DJI could or did not want to solve, i also saw on the forums that i am not the only one with that problem..
All of this and the lack of moving possibility when shooting a movie does make the DJI not something i would buy again..
