  • We flew out to The Ridge Motorsport Park to partner up with one of PhD's newest customers, Bear and his Turbulence Gray GR Supra. With just tires, wheels, and brake upgrades, we were feeling underprepped, but the little Supra showed everyone its potential and raised more than a few eyebrows.

    Nice work! That's one of the 2 tracks I go to. Sad I wasn't there for GTA. 50s is super impressive for a relatively stock car.

    I assume the sway bars are stock here. Is the car faster on track with the same sway bar ratio F:R or by just getting a bigger front to settle the loose rear end.

  • @j0hnnytsunami
    @j0hnnytsunami Před 2 lety

    So is this with stock suspension as well? What’s the specs of the wheels? You definitely put in work with a stock a90!

  • @MattGreenland
    @MattGreenland Před 4 lety +1

    Put the supra on the lift and lets have a look at this bumpsteer. An equally unsupported view of rear bumpsteer doesn't disprove it.

  • @edwint1780
    @edwint1780 Před 4 lety

    nice job catching the car and not spinning out. IMO, you kept going into some of those corners way too hot which caused the car to understeer. Then you tried to correct the understeer with the throttle which induced drifting. If you are so determined to never use the brake pedal, you then need to add more camber to the front wheels to negate the understeer.

    Almost like a Redemption Time Attack using another Gray Supra Similar to First Supra that you accidentally damage from that other previous Time Attack and you sold that Supra to Albon. You finally get Redeem on this Time Attack

    That "sketchy" moment at top of t10 seems exactly like what Robert Mitchell is talking about of "bump steer". Not really bump steer but some instability when you lift for braking for the thumb.

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety +2

      If you look at it careful, the rear started slipping while I'm still full throttle. It's just from the soft factory dampers not being able to control the body too too well at high speeds that the car got a little loose. As soon as I hit the brakes it stablizes, whereas under Robert's impression the car would toe out and actually spin into a full 360.

    When you go into a new track that you're unfamiliar with, do you do a track walk or just do installation laps to get a feel for the car and the track?

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety +3

      Couldn’t do a track walk, so I studied lots of different videos beforehand and then during the first session try to find my marks and experiment with different lines. It’s always a work up to pace kinda deal

  • @TripSkyWalker
    @TripSkyWalker Před 4 lety

    So you said the wind buffering is back? Did you manege to get rid of it & lesson it in your supra? ...Also that one part of the track reminds me of the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety +1

      On our car we have the AMS anti-wind buffeting plate, helps a lot!

  • @JaceGGD
    @JaceGGD Před 4 lety +1

    Do you really think bump steer doesn't affect most stock Supras? I never noticed it on mine.

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety +4

      As long as you get an alignment done, it's good.
      Bumpsteer would only come into effect on these Supra's when they have been excessively lowered on stock suspension arms.

    • @JaceGGD
      @JaceGGD Před 4 lety

      @@JackieDing86 For what it's worth, mine is dropped decently low on HKS Hipermax springs, but they come with revised bump stops. Never had an issue with it after modification either.

    Hi Jackie, do you miss the stock turbo quick response punchy low end torque? I am planning to move to Pure800, does the high end power worth the shift?

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety

      On a shorter and tighter track like this, the quick response is definitely helpful. I think the Pure 800 is super helpful for top end power but you will have to sacrifice a little bit of low end torque and, more importantly, transient response

      It was cool meeting you and seeing what the Supra could do. I've got a 21 in that same color slated for August so I loved seeing it up close.

    do u think the supra chassis is better than s2000s one

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety +2

      Very very subjective question. The Supra needs a lot less modifications to go as fast as the S2000, that’s for sure
