The fact that she was cheated on doesn't exclude the possibility that she did something beforehand which could be taken as betrayal by him, no matter how petty or wrong he would have to be. There's a possibility that both participants spun the events to fit their own narratives, hence the two perspectives. However, I didn't and still don't take this theory seriously, I just thought it'd be funny.

It even said in the song " I'll never forget this day" We also know it was one of his friends killed his dog because he said he was betrayed.
