ther's nothing like kraan live, if you ever have the chance to see them live don't miss it they are more than amazing and always interact with their fans
That was flow, funky, tight, world, long before those terms were applied to describe a good quality of lively musical expression. A Kraan concert with this line-up was an unforgettable magic experience from the very first song on even by today's standards and especially after the first ten minutes when Hellmut Hattler thanked the audience for enthusiasm, because it was only a warm-up improvisation for the soundcheck.
Great! Thanks, Helmut & Co. I'm glad I could see all these fatastic Krautrock bands (Kraan, Grobschnitt, Jane, Guru Guru, Eloy, etc) live on stage during the 70ths/80ths!
Intense w. serious musicianship. This band had/has it going on! I always look for SONG as well as atmosphere. There was something special about this era in music.
@keltyk I was making a joke about having to settle for hash. I never got the red Lebanese here in the states, but had a friend who got bricks of blonde for awhile, and can vouch that it was stronger than the cannabis we got at the time. I agree that it takes more than it gives after awhile. Krautrock gives me what I used to try to get out of psychedelics and find the music works better.
Cool, Kraan !
Leider ohne Gesang! Der Text is natürlich der Ober Hammer, "Go sarah flieg nach Haus rauch ein Joint komm zu uns... wenns dann törnt dreh nicht um tu etwas sonst steigst du um."
The guitarist pluck the strings at the "wrong" side of the bridge. To the right of the bridge. It creates harmonics vibration in the strings. Cool effect!
no it was't "a luxury". It was well available, but nobody wanted it. And Red Libanese came in very varying qualities. Yellow Libanese was much better, and quite rare, usually. And was preferred to Maroc at that time. Some preferred black stuff instead, when available.
Ibanez became a huge guitar company by making guitars that were actually better than the ones they copied. Gibson, was overpriced and, at that time, fragile. Pete Townshend of the Who raved about Ibanez guitars as far back as the mid-1970's; Robert Fripp and Gabriel Byrne used Roland guitar synths because they loved the guitars (made by Ibanez), not the synths. Ibanez is one of the three top manufacturers today....AND KRAAN is EXTRAORDINARY. Helmut Hattler is one of the best bassists playing.
@Peskygee1 Weed was cheaper and rarer- didn't stretch as far- We were used to hash and preferred it- Weed wasn't as strong as it later became- Lebanese was highly desired- more than weed- more than morroccan- but less than black- There were 2 common grades of Leb- Blonde or Red- Red was rarer and better- But I grew out of all that- waste of time and money- unless you're the type who gets clarity and focus from it- otherwise it sucks the years out of you leaving you nowhere and poor
Bullshit...they're just as good..just more vibrant..more like Embryo Gong Munju Missus Beastly Mahavisnu...creative outside of the mainstream...this rocks off..but like Can/Gong meets early years Embryo...its great..who cares about categories 😆
Geile Musik, immer wieder. Turnt mich heute genauso an wie damals.
2021 für mich!

How did that guy learn to drum so well at 12 years old?? Sheesh......what a talent!
KRAAN so great.

Funky Schwarzwald Baby
tanktop drummer. that's what I'm talking about right there
each of them was a genius,in every lineup.

Lokalpatriotismus :D
Kraan are new to me - sounds Zappa-ish - but that's good!
Cláudio Cavalcante on the drums Fantastic
isn't him Jan Fride?
@@Nitrate900
The truth is that Claudio Cavalcante lives in our hearts.
The legend, the myth, the man.

Oberklasse !
Mas MOAR!
@1533Montaigne absolut.
:-)
1:44. That guitar texture and tone is awesome. Nice use of the trapeze to bridge part of the string.
I love the guitar tone at 1:47! What kind of effect is that?
The guitarist pluck the strings at the "wrong" side of the bridge. To the right of the bridge. It creates harmonics vibration in the strings. Cool effect!
@Nightwithe what if we'd just ignore this comment?
@ThomasHowellOrg not anymore :/
yow
Great music,
Fucking rickenbacker.
Yea, I guess weed was a luxury in Europe at the time. These poor fellows had to settle for stuff like Red Lebanese hash.
no it was't "a luxury". It was well available, but nobody wanted it. And Red Libanese came in very varying qualities. Yellow Libanese was much better, and quite rare, usually. And was preferred to Maroc at that time. Some preferred black stuff instead, when available.
Irre gut!

Nice rickenfaker
@Peskygee1 Weed was cheaper and rarer- didn't stretch as far- We were used to hash and preferred it- Weed wasn't as strong as it later became- Lebanese was highly desired- more than weed- more than morroccan- but less than black- There were 2 common grades of Leb- Blonde or Red- Red was rarer and better- But I grew out of all that- waste of time and money- unless you're the type who gets clarity and focus from it- otherwise it sucks the years out of you leaving you nowhere and poor
Not as interesting as Can,Neu! or DüüL.....too free jazzy.
Bullshit...they're just as good..just more vibrant..more like Embryo Gong Munju Missus Beastly Mahavisnu...creative outside of the mainstream...this rocks off..but like Can/Gong meets early years Embryo...its great..who cares about categories 😆
