It worked great for the GM buses it was called for, it won the war powering tanks...but for a 105 ton railcar, two sets was pretty loaded. Officially, the RDC was only to work with others, and not tow regular cars. In practice, the reserve strength between two RDCs could pull a lightweight (sub 50 ton) car on low grades.
2:29 Percy's cross face is just wrong-looking and stupid, especially Toby's at 0:52. Plus, what was Percy even DOING there at 2:29 in the first place? It's also IMPOSSIBLE for engines to have two faces! (Except for the Mountain Engines, which, though, is still messed up, wrong, and confusing.)
Awdry is really good at making unlikable characters likable. Kudos.

British DMUs didn't take well to towing other cars. In the US, the Budd RDC would get hurt by pulling cars.
