  • A new, more stereophonic, 2024 remix. This one has stereo vocals and a remixed stereo backing. It is based on the single version, which had a lot of mono components in it. I've also added a cold ending to the mix.

    Used to shy away from any sort of ‘funky’ described music so never gave it a listen but vaguely familiar this one and interesting on headphones. Big hit in many, many countries selling 8 million copies. Their biggest selling record. Can imagine the 80s disco scene with this one belting out. A grower certainly Pat. Thanks for this.

      Another number one record from the 50s, 60s & 70s ticked off. I know it didn't reach number one until 1980, but it was recorded the year before !

    I dont mean to seem unappreciative, but why bother with tracks such as this that are already in excellent stereo mixes? Why not make better stereo mixes of those odd tracks by The Beatles , The Platters, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Sinatra (among others), that have poor stereo mixes with the vocal stuffed in the right or left channel? Producers at Mercury Records in particular did this with many artist's albums. Many of the recent stereo reissues of The Beatles early tracks (such as "Till there Was You") have the vocal annoyingly shoved to the far right of left. Nancy Sinatra's album "How Does That Grab You"? is another example of the vocal stuffed to the side.
    It would be great to have mono recordings artists like Sinatra or Julie London in stereo, or even albums by Les Baxter. Tell me, what software do you use to achieve such great results?

    • @radiowollaton8521
      @radiowollaton8521  Před 22 dny

      Funkytown is not the best stereo mix ever, so I decided I could make a better sounding stereo mix. All my mixes are aimed at headphone listeners, so if you listen that way and do an A to B comparison, you will hear a big difference.
      I suggest you do a search of the 1200 tracks that I've uploaded over the past four years. I've remixed songs by almost all the artists that you mention. I go out of my way to find tracks that are mono only, or poor stereo. If a song is already available in excellent stereo, then I have no desire to remix that song.
      I don't know if you are aware of the search facility on CZcams channels but just click on the icon to the right of Home, Videos, Community and type away. Here's the Nancy Sinatra song you mention: czcams.com/video/VABHaACrggk/video.html

    Speaking of 80's music Pat, before you say no, can you consider giving "Edge Of Heaven" by Wham a try. For being a Top 10 song in the 80's, it's got a horrible mono sound. Every vocal, guitar, drum, horn, etc. is dead center boring. Separation of panned horns and guitar would satisfy these 55 year old ears. Thanks for reading this. I'm sure my suggestion will get lots of criticism.

    • @radiowollaton8521
      @radiowollaton8521  Před měsícem

      Thanks Mark. I will look into that one. I've been looking at other 1980s recordings just recently and found more mono-ish songs. A lot of the Madness recordings, for example, could sound better.

    • @markcross169
      @markcross169 Před měsícem

      @radiowollaton8521 I appreciate that. Coincidentally, I just gave Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker" a new mix. I felt the drums needed to be more prominent with a better eq. I don't know if you've given that song a new stereo mix or not but give it a listen and let me know if you hear what I'm talking about.

      @@radiowollaton8521 it’s this recording for the most part. Tainted Love by Soft Cell has the same effect. I did once get sick from hearing that record over and over.

      @@toothbrush5190 I agree with you about Tainted Love. I never liked the Soft Cell version. And I'm a big Giorgio Moroder fan, so I'll have a look at his work later on. I had a go at making a headphone mix of I Feel Love, but couldn't make it work. That record has really unusual stereo.
