- By doing air tests and field tests ive seen a pattern of how different metals show themselves on the 2D screen. Tests are commencing showing the relation of ground balancing and different soil conditions have on targets on the 2 d screen. My hypothesis of this will be on a future video. Hi, Im Liam , a Metal Detectorist ( not a treasure hunter) , and a tester of Metal Detecting machines, with a utube channel.
The channel delves into how to detect with hints and tips , settings plus the obvious, SEARCHING FOR HISTORY.

And this is why we turn 360 degrees while constantly swinging on a target
In engineering terms, a metal detector operates by generating an electromagnetic field and sensing disruptions (feedback) in that field caused by metallic objects. When small iron objects are shaped as balls or rings, they provide a more coherent and concentrated mass, leading to a stronger and more consistent signal disturbance. This is due to their more uniform interaction with the detector's electromagnetic field. On the contrary, irregularly shaped iron (horseshoes etc) objects may scatter the electromagnetic field, resulting in a less predictable and weaker signal, making them less prone to mimic good solid formed targets (2d traces). So it’s not the ground, it’s the uniformity of the conductivity in the object that mimics non ferrous. Ever noticed stainless steel washers. Banging signals; whereas iron plates etc are horrendous 👍🍺
yeah the induced emf moves more freely on a ring shape item , but clash on say a solid item such as a coin, horse shoes give off a great signal come up non ferrous more than iron.
@@HistoryRevisitedukYup, horseshoe maybe not the best example; but I can spot them now unless they are super deep. We Get the classic S shape moving from bottom limits to top.. Plus if I think iron, I always lift the coil up 6 inches and more, and if signal is still banging but messy, is 99% of the time iron. However if the signal disappears or fades is more likely to be a good target just on limit of detection. Of course you never know, and on nice soft ground will dig some to keep confident 👍😍🍺
@@neilsbluesky8027 yeah great method coil raising to find out the size of a target 👌🏻🧑🦯
Very well explained video mate 👌🏻
Great information helpful as I’m still on learning curve
Spot on lad stick with it.
Valuable information! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great channel, Liam, and helpful as ever.
Of late, I have seriously been considering becoming a detectorist, and this week I was about to buy my first detector and all the peripheries that go with it, when, after checking around, I discovered that there is almost nowhere in the Manchester/Greater Manchester area where detecting is not frowned-upon. So for now I will have to hold-off purchasing the necessary items.
Check out ministry of detect on Facebook bud. They a good bunch and have plenty of digs on
@@HistoryRevisiteduk Thanks, Mate.
Thanks for vid.
Your very welcome
Aye up Rocky!
Thanks
No problem
Is there a video of how you setup the ferrous limits ?
I will be doing a ferrous upper lower limits setup video soon
So can you cut out the iron all together watched another vid about the new 900 and it cut out all the coke and iron ..?
Yes to coke no too iron
Some iron but if your pushing a detectors iron filter’s capabilities you got to be prepared to dig iron , with any detector with an iron bias iron filter it goes . You can run if really high and a higher iron tone break and not dig much iron apart from large deep iron. It all depends how much you are prepared to sacrifice digging some iron to get the goodies amongst iron. On some of my quite permissions I turn iron filter totally off , as a filter hinders the full performance of a detector , especially depth.
It there a video on lower and upper
not just yet but will be covering every function of the manticore in up coming videos
Much prefer to hear the iron
Same here , run open screen most of the time . I am finding out that not much performance difference between horse shoe on or off 👍🏻
Halo??
Hmmm.
I’ll reserve comment.
Bye
Be nice to see you experimenting with this and seeing what you think tn
I have an idea to show this maybe. Or not show.
Personally I think the halo effect is bunch of bs.
Stay tuned. I discussed what I am going to do with a friend to try and make a scenario to simulate possible halo effects,
